Digital Job Platform: un'analisi semi-sistematica della letteratura

    No full text

When algorithms help cross-cultural management educators: a proposed supportive tool

    No full text
This study explores the conceptualization and design of a supportive tool aiming at assessing the student Cross- Cultural Competence (CCC) within the context of higher education. Employing Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and non-hierarchical Cluster Analysis (non-HCA), the research aims to discern patterns and similarities in student data to aid in the conceptualization of the supportive tool for cross-cultural management educators. It coherently to the relevant literature discourse examines the impact of several factors, including experiences in foreign countries and participation in academic courses with a cross-cultural emphasis. This algorithm is also designed to assist in creating tailored strategies for enhancing students’ CCC by exploiting identified cluster compositions. Data was gathered through a specifically designed survey based on literary research orientations and distributed to students across bachelor’ s and master’ s degree programs at the University of Salerno. The PCA identified three principal components exerting a significant influence on students’ capability to navigate diverse cultural environments. Subsequent non-HCA defined distinct student traits, thereby providing deeper insights into the assessment of CCC. The algorithm, based upon these statistical methodologies, can enhances the automation of future survey analyses across diverse contexts. This advancement provides cross-cultural management educators with a supportive tool for fostering CCC through the deployment of customized educational strategies, tailored to the unique attributes of the students

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Digital Job Searching and Recruitment Platforms: A Semi-systematic Literature Review

The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the new E-recruitment trend that is pervading the lives of job seekers, included students, and job offers. A semi-systematic literature review on digital job searching and recruiting platform in the last five years was conducted with the aim to develop a preliminary conceptual framework. Following a replicable research process, a final sample of 37 publications was located in five subdimensions - Web Application Framework, Use of Artificial Intelligence technologies, Use of Blockchain Technologies, Type of User, User Experience - grouped by two dimensions of analysis: “Technical implementation of the platform”, “Platform usability analysis”. From our findings it emerges that the first one received strong attention, specifically with regards to subdimensions Web Application Framework and Use of the Artificial Intelligence Technologies; the subdimension Use of the Blockchain Technologies started to attract scholarly attention only from 2020. The second dimension of analysis has received a fair amount of attention over the last five years, but it seems that in 2021 the sub-dimension Type of User is perceived as the most attractive from scholars from different field of studies. The contribution of this work is twofold. Firstly, it tries to shed lights on the main characteristics of the studies about the job searching and recruiting platforms as derived from the publications included in our review identifying appropriate dimensions and sub-dimensions of analysis that could be useful to analyze these platforms in the future. Secondly, for each sub-dimensions we identified the major challenges that authors have set out to address. This specific aspect will be helpful to identify the future research agenda for the topic investigated

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
