3D human hands rendering by a six degrees of freedom collaborative robot and a single 2D camera
Human hands are essential in everyday tasks, mainly manipulating and grasping objects. Thus, accurate and precise three-dimensional (3D) models of digitally reconstructed hands are valuable to the world of ergonomics. A 3D scan-to-render system called the “3D hands model rendering using a 6-degrees of freedom (DoF) collaborative robot” is proposed to ensure that a person receives the best possible outcome for their unique anatomy. The description implies this is using a 6-DoF robot with a two-dimensional (2D) camera sensor that will encompass all forms of the production line in a timely, low-cost, precise, and accurate manner so that an individual can go to and scan their hand and have an actual 3D reconstruction print within the same facility, the same day. It is expected to generate an accurate hand model using structure from motion (SFM) system techniques to create a dense point cloud using photogrammetry. The point cloud is used to develop the tetrahedral mesh of the surface of the hand. This mesh is then refined to filter out the noise of the point cloud. The mesh can produce a precise 3D model that can tailor products to the consumer's needs. The results show the effectiveness of the 3D model of the hand
Community Care Network: Health Coach Program
The Community Care Network is a unique program at The College of Wooster in which students interested in pursuing medical school are paired with patients in the local community through a partnership with Wooster Community Hospital. This initiative helps to develop practical approaches for improving the health of patients by reducing the frequency of re-hospitalization through preventative measures. The students begin with a one-semester training seminar followed by an internship in which the student, under the supervision of hospital staff, provides weekly visits to patients in their homes, checking on their physical and emotional well-being, and discussing lifestyle choices that impact their health. In the academic year 2012-2013, the Community Care Network was launched. A total of 25 students are selected every semester to complete a one-semester seminar taught by health care professionals from WCH on a weekly basis. For 14 weeks, students learn about diseases, illnesses, specialty areas such as pulmonary and cardiology, and about the health care system. During this time, they also learn how to take blood pressure and other vital signs as well as develop an understanding of frequently prescribed medications for diseases like diabetes and congestive heart failure. Upon successful completion, student health coaches are trained by home health care nurses who pair them with patients accepted in the program. Students then meet weekly with their assigned patient and develop a relationship with the focus of guiding the patient to meet their health care plan goals. From the beginning, this program has been mutually beneficial to both the college and hospital. Now in its fourth year, more than 250 students have successfully completed the seminar and have become active health coaches. Each health coach meets with a team of health care professionals on a weekly basis to discuss his or her patient, a requirement of the program. They are considered an equal member of the health care team. The outcomes for students and patients alike have been astounding. The Community Care Network key players, Robyn Laditka, pre-health advisor at The College of Wooster, and AlexSandra Davis, RN director of the Community Care Network at WCH, report several sets of outcomes since the inception of the Community Care Network. Students gain valuable direct service experiences now required to enter most health care professions, but that is only the starting point. They gain insight that doctors can't possibly know about by going into the patients' homes. They learn about the issues of poverty, hoarding, and multiple prescriptions to keep track of on a daily basis. They learn to build relationships to gain the trust of the patients. The hospital experiences fewer hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the emergency room.AUTHOR AFFILIATION: Robyn Laditka, Pre-Health Advisor, the College of Wooster, [email protected] (Corresponding Author); Alexsandra Davis, RN Director, Community Health Network, Wooster Community Hospital. The Community Care Network is an unique program at The College of Wooster in which students interested in pursuing medical school are paired with patients in the local community through a partnership with Wooster Community Hospital.
The present research project had the objective of identifying the factors that can lead the rural female workers of the Municipality of Mairi-BA to develop a picture of mental disorder. The interest of this research was based on the clinical / empirical work of the author at the Center for Psychosocial Care (CAPS), where a relevant index of cases was verified in women living in the rural area, and who returned mental disorder, Depression and anxiety. Considering a subject of relevance to Psychology, as well as Public Management, the author proposed to study the possible factors present in the emergence of such disorders, evaluating their impact on the daily lives of rural women. To understand the uniqueness of the thematic, mental health of rural workers, a descriptive study was adopted through a qualitative approach. The method used was the case study, because it allows a better understanding of the social and psychological reality of the object in question, in a detailed way. Regarding the collection of information, a documentary survey was carried out on the medical records of the women attending the CAPS. A total population cut of 10 women was selected, 6 were diagnosed with depression and 4 were diagnosed with anxiety. The primary data were performed through field research, and the data collection procedures were performed semi-structured interviews, associated with an AutoReport questionnaire (SRQ). The results of this research demonstrated that several factors may influence the emergence of mental disorders in life Of these rural women, and in this study more latent marital problems, another relevant aspect of research that was not focused in this research was the result of 80% presenting a history of mental disorders in the family, that is, investigating the hereditary and interactional aspects between The family members would be another alternative for the development of mental disorders. The proposal of this research aims to propose new strategies of Public Policies tied to programs of psychosocial care to this population.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo identificar os fatores que podem levar as mulheres trabalhadoras rurais do Município de Mairi- BA a desenvolver um quadro de transtorno mental.
EMERGENCE OF THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ON PHYSICAL EDUCATION"
Since ancient times, the issues and problems of upbringing and education have always been one of the most important positions among other state objectives. Each era makes its own conceptual innovations in the notion of education, that is, the contents and methods of chronological change, but the goal is always the same: to cultivate comprehensively developed person in the framework of progress, which could exist in a particular historical setting. In the article special attention is paid to the development of philosophical and pedagogical ideas of the ancient Greek physical education, reflected in the works of scientists of that time, as well as other representatives of the scientific thought. The author focuses on the sayings of ancient philosophers and scientists, and their opinions and valuable ideas about physical education as an integral part of General education.</jats:p
Graphical language in the mathematics textbook: an analysis from the dialectical mediation
External evaluations show that Brazilian students present difficulties for mathematical learning and indicate that teaching performance is one of the variables that potentiate school failure. In this context, we conducted this theoretical-bibliographic and documentary research, which aimed to study the "Theory of Methodology of Dialectical Mediation (M.M.D.)" (ARNONI, 2018), in which contradiction is inherent to mediation, in which, through language, conveys the educational concept taught between teacher and student, dialecting it via methodological stages of the M.M.D., promoting the conceptual learning of the student. Hence the questioning: does the language of the Mathematics textbook, which officially determines the lesson model in school education, promote the establishment of dialectical mediation between teacher and students? We opted for the analysis of the graphic language, whose function is to facilitate the student's understanding of the concept, being used to complement the verbal text. With respect to the results of the research, became evident the limitations faced by the author: on the one hand, the fact that he does not know the mathematical knowledge of its users – teachers and students – which makes it difficult or impossible to understand what is proposed; and, on the other hand, the fact that he does not present the mathematical concept in the teacher's manual, especially in the first years of elementary education, whose initial formation is by Pedagogy, which does not have the obligation to teach the scientific concepts of the areas of knowledge that make up the curriculum grid of elementary education. It is evident, also, the difficulty of adequately illustrating the scientific language of the mathematical concept, limiting the possibilities of exploring concepts. In the perspective of dialectical mediation, the textbook officially removes from the teacher the possibility of him consciously planning, developing and evaluating his educational activity
In this dissertation we present a creative critical research developed by the author and named Habitado, which aims to test the reach of photography in contemporary times. When we live in a world of 7 billion inhabitants and 5 billion smartphones, a world where we are all photographers, we perceive photography ubiquitously and the extent of the photographer's role in this context. For this, we appropriated the Inhabited project, as a research field and experimental laboratory. Discussing concepts such as: work networks; representation of reality; incorporation of daily life in art; experience as a form of knowledge creation, affective memory, imagetic literacy and the methodology of academic research in the arts. Importantly, the format of this research is also content. Many pages with images without text show us visual narrative forms that can be included not only in our everyday Instagram, but also in academic research. In order to experience this scope procedurally, this dissertation is divided into three themes that relate respectively: ART, the photographic making; CULTURE, communication with image and EDUCATION, use of photography in teaching methodologies. Finally, we realize a need to synthesize the structure of reasoning created by the vast extension of the imaginary world, which we call “photographic logic” and with it we experience the possibility of expansion to the production of knowledge in other languages of intersemiotic translations. That is, we use a set of signs acquired by the continuous production and consumption of photographs in our daily lives, to allow us to expand and transpose ideas, concepts, thoughts to any other form of communication and representation. Photography as the contemporary Bic pen. With the complexity of the contemporary world. That not only allows us to produce content, but also changes our structure and, most of all, the way we relate to other beings and the world
Exploring trauma-informed care with the Acquired Brain Injury and Concussion Services program
This report focuses on what I learned about trauma and acquired brain injuries during my Master of Social Work (MSW) practicum at Acquired Brain Injury and Concussion Services with Fraser Health Authority (FHA) located in Langley, British Columbia. This in-depth and unique practicum allowed me to practice independently as a MSW student and utilize my clinical practice skills. In addition to highlighting the role of social workers within interdisciplinary teams and delivering services within the healthcare system. The practicum provided the opportunity to explore the experiences of practicing social work within community health settings and compare my experiences to acute social work
Exploring Students' Engagement With and Construction of Community
abstract: Sense of Community is related to numerous positive outcomes for university students. The purpose of this study was to explore sense of community amongst low income students who received a last dollar scholarship. This study also sought to understand how students define community and how they interact with communities from their past (before university), present (since they started college), and how they envision their future community involvement after graduation. Through purposive sampling, six low income Arizona State University students were selected based on similar characteristics. The scholarship that they belong to selects them based on financial need, integrity, and prolonged commitment to community service. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry, I interviewed participants about their understanding and experiences with communities. Interviews were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim for analysis. Based on the analysis, I identified three major themes: community as construction, community as nonlinear, and community as intersectional. Drawing from participants' definitions and experiences of community, I argue that community is a construction. In other words, individuals create their own constructions of community, and their actions vary based on that construction. Participants also experience their communities intersectionally, that is individual's experience their communities as coexisting and through multiple community perspectives, rather than as a single stand-alone entity. Finally, community does not exist as part of a linear time paradigm. Instead community is experienced in terms of relevance to the individual in creating meaning from that community. In addition to the above themes, I also examined participant perspectives of ASU as a community. Based on this research, I recommend that a platform be provided for students to engage in a dialogue about their understanding of community and interactions with communities. Moreover, I suggest researchers utilize intersectionality, constructionism, and non-linear time to frame future research on sense of community. This research is significant because it helps us understand student engagement, and offers a framework through which universities can provide students an opportunity to better understand their own sense of community
