The premise of this study is that in a consumer purchase decision process, there must be some phenomena that trigger the consumer‟s mind about their future consumption experience. In other words, consumers tend to develop perception and expectation towards their consumption experience. However, the consumer‟s perception and expectation will only develop if they are activated by certain events. Customer-based brand equity and eWOM communication are constructs that explain possible key factors towards the development of consumer‟s perception and expectation, and subsequently their consumption experience. By applying Experience Economy concept, supported by functional experience and emotional experience concepts as well as recommendations from the literatures, this study sets out to investigate the determinants of guest experience in the Malaysian resort settings. A survey approach using questionnaire was applied to collect responses from 500 tourists staying for at least one night at the beach and island resorts in Malaysia. A structural equation modeling (Partial Least Square or PLS-SEM) approach was subsequently applied to examine the direct effects of guest experience. Findings from this study revealed that the hypothesized relationships between brand awareness and guest experience (service environment, service employee, esthetic experience and escapism experience) were not supported. However, brand association and perceived service quality were found interrelated with guest experience (service environment, service employee, esthetic experience and escapism experience). In relation to the eWOM, the findings indicated that the hypothesized relationship between eWOM and four dimensions of guest experience (service environment, service employee and esthetic experience escapism experience) was supported. Findings also confirmed that guest experience is related with guest loyalty. This study makes several theoretical contributions. Towards the end managerial contributions and several potential opportunities for future research are delineated

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

This is an endeavor to grasp how the theories can be applied to a practical situation. As a student in UiTM Perlis, it is a part of a study for everyone to undergo a case study project. So, for this purpose, I got the chance to research a corporate entity that manufactures a product that deeply interests us, which is Decathlon Group, a sports retailer. First of all, the general information regarding the corporate has been collected. Information is gathered through the primary and secondary source. In the second part of the report contains the specialized subject studies. The objective of the project is to figure on the background, organizational structure, products and services that Decathlon provides. In this case study, I have analyzed the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of this company in the real business world by using SWOT analysis. Next, I studied regarding the product manufactured by Decathlon, which is primarily a standard technology utilized by the company for its selected product that we have chosen which is their running shoes. Here, I will be explaining the problems of the shoes that have grab my attention. The problem of the shoes that I discovered is the shoes are instable which makes difficulties for runners. Next, is the shoe has a high arch which is not suitable for runners. And lastly, the narrowed shoes developed by Decathlon has made it difficult for those who have wide feet to wear it. In this study, I will be explaining deeper regarding the problems and I would also be discussing the alternatives solutions towards the problems

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Oral cancer is recorded as the sixth highest malignancy globally. In Malaysia, oral cancer deaths have been reached 1,060 or 0.83% of total deaths in 2018. Current cases reported that oral cancer can be treated when detected at an early stage of the disease. However, so many cases are still detected at a late stage of disease, thus increasing the mortality rate of the patients. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) is a group of small non-coding RNAs, which plays a role in post-transcriptionally regulating gene expression, and miR-129-3p was reported affecting the cell proliferation, apoptosis, and even chemotherapy resistance in different types of cancer. Research has shown that deregulation of miRNAs in almost every type of human cancer, and the signature of miRNA expression in tumour can be potentially applied in cancer detection and prognosis. Epigenetic drugs, 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC) function as a methylation inhibitor, also is implemented in treating cancer which possibly reverses aberrant gene expression profiles associated with different diseases. The aim of this study is to measure the inhibitory effect 5-aza-dC towards proliferation of the oral cancer cell line, ORL-48T and normal human gingival fibroblast, hGF using an in vitro model. In addition, the evaluation of miRNA-129-3p expression of treated ORL-48T and hGF with 5-aza-dC using quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) was also carried out in this study. Inhibitory effects of 5-aza-dC on ORL-48T and hGF proliferation was studied using 3-4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl-2,5 -diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT)-based assay. Statistical analysis revealed that treatment with 40 μM of 5-aza-dC for 72 h, and 20 μM of 5-aza-dC for 144 h had significantly decreased the viability of oral cancer cells (p=0.03). The expression of miR-129-3p was also found to be significant between the treated and untreated ORL-48T (p=0.02). However, there was no significant difference between treated and untreated hGF. Overall studies indicate that miR-129-3p was upregulated in an oral cancer cell which showed a signal of oncogenesis and potential target to detect oral cancer. These findings also suggested the inhibitive effect of 5-aza-dC towards the proliferation of ORL-48T cells. Therefore, the findings from this study would be useful for detection, prognostic, diagnostic or therapeutic targets of oral cancer and improve the survival rate of oral cancer patients in the future. Moreover, it could help in the development of effective cancer treatment by applying miR-129-3p as potential biomarker in detecting oral cancer

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    No full text
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
