SHIVAM YOGA E PROMOÇÃO DA SAÚDE

Percepções acerca da prática de Shivam Yoga durante o climatério.

Esta redução leva a diversos sinais e sintomas como a cefaleia, os fogachos, a insônia, os problemas cardiovasculares e a osteoporose, entre outros. Os manejos sintomáticos se baseiam em intervenções terapêuticas biomédicas ou integrativas e complementares. Entre as terapêuticas biomédicas há os medicamentos alopáticos e os fitoterápicos. Entre as intervenções integrativas e complementares o Yoga vem sendo associado a benefícios fisiológicos em estudos quantitativos, contudo há poucos estudos na perspectiva qualitativa. O Shivam Yoga é uma modalidade composta por técnicas de concentração, respiração, exercícios psicofísicos, relaxamento e meditação e foi utilizado no Projeto de Extensão “Yoga para Mulheres no Climatério” da PROEX/UFOP. A fim de conhecer as percepções acerca da prática do Shivam Yoga no climatério das praticantes foram utilizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas face a face, com duas perguntas disparadoras: como você percebe o yoga em sua vida? Como você percebe o yoga no climatério/menopausa? O critério de saturação foi utilizado para delimitação do grupo de participantes. A saturação ocorreu com 7 participantes, entre 45 a 65 anos de idade e que praticavam Shivam Yoga há 40 meses, com duas aulas semanais de 60 minutos, em diferentes turmas e com diferentes instrutores. Avaliou-se as entrevistas a partir dos preceitos da análise de conteúdo (Bardin,1977). Emergiram da análise temática cinco categorias com suas diversas significações: Climatério e isolamento social, Shivam Yoga na sintomatologia, Shivam Yoga e interação social, Shivam Yoga como instrumento de autoconhecimento e, finalmente, Shivam Yoga como uma prática diferente e espiritual. O Shivam Yoga foi percebido como benéfico no manejo sintomático, aumentou a interação social e a empatia, e proporcionou o autoconhecimento e domínio do corpo. A utilização do Shivam Yoga no climatério mostrouse promissora.The curbing of the synthesis of estrogens and progesterones that occurs between 45 to 65 years of age in women is known as climacteric. This reduction leads to several signs and symptoms such as headache, hot flushes, insomnia, cardiovascular problems, osteoporosis, among others. Symptomatic management is based on biomedical or alternative therapeutic interventions. Among biomedical therapies there are allopathic and herbal medicines. Among the alternative interventions, Yoga has been associated with physiological benefits in quantitative studies, however there are few studies with a qualitative perspective. Shivam Yoga is a modality composed of concentration, breathing, psychophysical exercises, relaxation and meditation techniques and was used in the PROEX / UFOP Extension Project “Yoga for Women in the Climacteric”. In order to know the perceptions about the practice of Shivam Yoga in the climacteric of the practitioners, semi-structured face-to-face interviews were used, with two trigger questions: how do you perceive yoga in your life? How do you perceive yoga in menopause / menopause? The saturation criterion was used to delimit the group of participants. Saturation occurred with 7 participants, between 45 and 65 years old, who had been practicing Shivam Yoga for 40 months, with two weekly classes of 1 hour, in different classes and with different instructors. The interviews were analyzed based on the precepts of content analysis (Bardin, 1977). Five categories emerged from the thematic analysis with their different meanings: Climacteric and social isolation, Shivam Yoga in symptomatology, Shivam Yoga and social interaction, Shivam Yoga as a tool for self-knowledge and, finally, Shivam Yoga as a different and spiritual practice. Shivam Yoga was perceived as beneficial in the symptomatic management, increased social interaction and empathy, and provided self-knowledge and mastery of the body. Effect of High-intensity interval training on performance of Olympic-style weightlifters: A Pilot Study
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) refers to “intermittent exercise that involves alternating short bursts of high-intensity activity with lower-intensity activity for recovery or rest”. The goal of HIIT is to constantly stress the physiological system of body that will be engaged during a certain endurance-type of exercises to a larger extent than compared to what is truly needed throughout the activity. With the help of this study, we are able to find out the changes on cardiorespiratory fitness and performance of weightlifters. Convenient sampling was used tr obtain 15 number of athletes with a age group of 12-20. This study concludes that HIIT helps the Olympic style weightlifters in increasing their aerobic capacity or maximum oxygen consumption capacity or VO2 Max with their specific training warm-up training and boosting their performance by increasing their cardiac output which is needed while lifting heavy weights i.e increased by improving their cardiovascular health

Although inspired by the brain, these network architectures are not biologically plausible. In contrast, the reservoir computing paradigm has a single sparsely and recurrently connected hidden layer, with the linear readout layer being the only learned parameter. We apply reservoir computing in a reinforcement learning context to actuate a soft, slender muscular arm. The arm must track a moving target in a partially observable environment. Soft robots present an especially challenging test bed for reinforcement learning due to their nonlinear, continuum dynamics. We propose learning strategies for two classes of reservoirs: Echo State Networks (ESNs) built using tanh neurons and Liquid State Machines (LSMs) built using Leaky Integrate and Fire (LIF) neurons. Unlike traditional activation functions, LIF neurons provide discrete spike trains with respect to time, and LSM-like structures are found in vivo. Crucially, we prohibit any additional feedforward layers, making the reservoir the sole neural computing unit. Our ESN policy significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithm Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and our LSM policy matches PPO. Finally, we deploy a LSM directly on neuromorphic hardware, opening up opportunities for energy efficient reinforcement learning and robotic control. End-to-end, our soft robot controlled with a spiking reservoir is a novel bio-inspired system
Associations of childhood head growth with health and human capital in adult life and in the next generation
Nature of the work undertaken: Most studies of the ‘developmental origins of health and disease hypothesis’ have related early weight and height measurements to later life outcomes, but few have considered head size. I study the association of early head size and growth with adult cognitive and cardiometabolic outcomes, and intergenerational outcomes, using the New Delhi Birth Cohort (NDBC). This was set up in 1969 in New Delhi, India and enrolled 20,755 married women in the reproductive age-group resulting in 9,169 pregnancies whose anthropometric data, including head circumference were collected from birth till early adulthood at defined time points. I develop and compare suitable statistical models and advise on the choice of method for analysis of such data. Contribution to subject knowledge in the area: Head size and disproportion of head size relative to other body measurements at birth, and childhood head growth were unrelated to either educational attainment or blood pressure, and therefore early head size is not an indicator of early life programing in this population. Improving childhood nutrition and promoting linear growth up to age 2 years may be important for higher adult cognitive development. Contrastingly, becoming a heavier adolescent is associated with an increased risk of adult hypertension. Similar associations of early life maternal and paternal head growth with next generation birth weight suggest that they result from genetic factors which are non-modifiable or persisting environment between generations. Understanding the environmental factors influencing brain growth might help increase next-generation birth weight. Conditional and spline approaches provide similar goodness of fit in my data, and associations of head growth with the different adult outcomes were similar. Conditional growth modelling is suitable for studies with a small number of body measurements per individual, while spline models might be better for datasets with a larger number of measurements.<br/

Composable inference metaprogramming using subproblems

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
