The War on Terrorism: Appropriation and Subversion by Moroccan Women
The author focuses on the war on terrorism in Morocco. The author reports that after a terrorist attack in the city of Casablanca in 2003, the Moroccan government took steps to approach terrorism in a similar fashion to the U.S. According to the author, the discourse of the war is connected to discourses of democratization and modernity, which has an impact on the relationship of Moroccan women to the war. The author discusses feminist and Islamist women's groups who appropriate the discourse of the war to advocate for women's rights and gender issues. The author addresses such topics as feminist studies on the war and international relations, resistance to the war, and rhetoric.Peer reviewe

Assessment of Patient Satisfaction after Counseling by a Health Care Provider before Emergency Cesarean Section in a Tertiary Care Hospital
ABSTRACT
Introduction
Patient satisfaction is one of the most frequently reported outcome measures for quality of health care. In recent years, effective counseling has become a very important tool to involve patient participation in decision-making. The objective of this study was to assess the patient satisfaction by the counseling of a health care provider before emergency cesarean section (C-section) in a tertiary care hospital.
Materials and methods
A descriptive cross-sectional questionnaire study of 53 women, who had their first babies by C-section or had C-section first time with previous normal deliveries, in Hamdard University hospital in 3 months.
Data analysis
Questionnaires were distributed among patients on their second postoperative day after emergency C-section. A good total response rate for patient satisfaction survey is in the 40 to 60% range. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20 was used to analyze the data, patient satisfaction was analyzed by using descriptive statistics (%, frequency), and independent sample t-test and analysis of variance were applied to assess the satisfaction level for demographic indicators.
Results
Out of 53 women, 38 (71.7%) were satisfied with the counseling while 15 (28.3%) were dissatisfied; 35 (66%) were primigravida while 17 (32%) were multigravida. The majority was in the age group of 25 to 30 (41%) years; 21 (39.6%) were undergraduate, out of them 12 (55.2%) were satisfied; 32 (60.3%) were graduate, out of them 26 (82%0) agreed; 46 (86%) participants know their counselor; and 44 (83%) reported good attitude. A safe atmosphere was created by the counselor in 38 (71.7%) cases, and 24 (45%) participants reported that the counselor used medical jargons. Privacy was not maintained in 39.6%, and 18 (33.9%) reported negative feelings like anxiety and depression after their counseling.
Conclusion
Patient satisfaction is an important quality outcome indicator to measure success of the health care services. Evaluation of patient care is vital to provide opportunity for improvement like strategic framing of health plans.

Reinforcing Demands for Gender Justice: The War Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh
Ferdousi was one of the first women who came forward to acknowledge being a victim of rape and sexual slavery during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Today she has become part of the youth movement in Bangladesh, known as the Shahbag movement, supporting the International Crimes Tribunal and demanding the maximum penalty for those who are found guilty. In 2010, the Bangladesh Government, led by Sheikh Hasina, set up the International Crimes Tribunal and charged as many as 12 individuals for participating and assisting in war crimes and crimes against humanity during Bangladesh’s war of independence from Pakistan. The tribunals not only address the worst rape concentration camps in history; they also reveal the inner struggles of a society as it faces demands for gender justice, along with secularism and social justice. Unnoticed by most of the world, there is a revolution happening here
Recognizing Perceived Interdependence in Face-to-Face Negotiations through Multimodal Analysis of Nonverbal Behavior
Enabling computer-based applications to display intelligent behavior in complex social settings requires them to relate to important aspects of how humans experience and understand such situations. One crucial driver of peoples' social behavior during an interaction is the interdependence they perceive, i.e., how the outcome of an interaction is determined by their own and others' actions. According to psychological studies, both the nonverbal behavior displayed by Motivated by this, we present a series of experiments to automatically recognize interdependence perceptions in dyadic face-to-face negotiations using these sources. Concretely, our approach draws on a combination of features describing individuals' Facial, Upper Body, and Vocal Behavior with state-of-the-art algorithms for multivariate time series classification. Our findings demonstrate that differences in some types of interdependence perceptions can be detected through the automatic analysis of nonverbal behaviors. We discuss implications for developing socially intelligent systems and opportunities for future research.</p
Diagnostic Accuracy of MRI and Clinical Examination in Estimating Tumor Size in Early-Stage Cervical Carcinoma
Background: Cervical cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women globally, particularly in developing countries. Accurate tumor size estimation is critical for staging and treatment planning in early-stage cervical carcinoma. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of MRI and clinical examination in estimating tumor size in early-stage cervical carcinoma.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Gynecological Oncology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, from January 2020 to December 2020. A total of 40 patients diagnosed with early-stage cervical carcinoma (FIGO stage Ib1–IIa1) were enrolled in the study. Tumor size was recorded by clinical examination, MRI, and histopathology post-radical hysterectomy. Pearson’s correlation and size estimation accuracy within ±0.5 cm was analyzed.
Results: MRI showed a stronger correlation with histopathology (r = 0.7567; p = 0.001) than with clinical examination (r = 0.5707; p = 0.001). MRI demonstrated higher accuracy in tumors ≥2.0 cm, particularly in the 2.0–3.9 cm group (22.5% vs. 7.5% for clinical). MRI also outperformed clinical examination in estimating tumors ≥4.0 cm (30.0% vs. 25.0% accuracy within ±0.5 cm).
Conclusion: MRI is more accurate than clinical examination in tumor size estimation and should be integrated into standard cervical cancer staging protocols.

Role of environmental and genetic factors in autism spectrum disorder
The aim of this study was to find out the environmental as well as genetic factors responsible for increasing the number of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) patients in Bangladesh. A questionnaire was developed based on 12 environmental factors and genetic aspects. Sixty six patients of ASD and 66 non-ASD control were selected randomly. Among the environmental factors, the age of the mother, premature birth, air pollution, age of the father, hypoxia during childbirth and oral contraceptive came out as significant (p<0.05) factors for ASD incidence compared to the control. Association of multiple factors on an individual was found to be crucial to enhance the risk and exposure to five and six factors was statistically significant (p<0.05) for ASD development. Prospective parents should try to keep the number of risk factors as low as possible before 1-2 months of pregnancy, during pregnancy and 1-2 years after the child birth (for child only)
THE INTERNATIONAL WAR CRIMES (TRIBUNAL) ACT, 1973 OF BANGLADESH
Bangladesh earned her independence from Pakistan in 1971 after a bloody war that continued for nine months. By December 16 of 1971, the day Bangladesh declared victory, an estimated 30 million people died and 200,000 women reported sexual violence by the Pakistani Army and their Bengali accomplices. Known as one of the worst genocide in history, the systematic killing of Bengalis included a chilling attempt to exterminate the intellectuals from within Bangladeshi society. A published report claims that by 19 April, 1975 individuals were arrested for war crimes and 752 were convicted. After the assassination of the country’s first Prime Minister and leader of the independence movement, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in August, 1975 the issue of war crimes against Pakistanis and their Bengali accomplices took a back seat. Military dictatorships tortured the soul of the nation and created a financial elite class whose only motivation was to reach for the riches. As people’s revolution toppled the worst of the lot, General Ershad in 1990, democracy flourished and so did the free will of the people. With the exception of 2006, the topic of war crimes Tribunal returned in the nation’s memory and preparation began to form such platform. By 2008, the War Crimes Fact Finding Committee published a list of 1,597 criminals which included names of influential ministers, parliamentarians and political figures from two major political parties. In 2009 the Government led by the Awami League, the same political party that led Bangladesh to independence, announced its plan to hold a war crimes Tribunal for the 1971 criminals under the International Was Crimes (Tribunal) Act, 1973. I plan to discuss and comment on the Act in the light of recent developments in international criminal law
