How to navigate the data jungle in emerging economies
Digital transformation and artificial intelligence are sold as engines of inclusive growth. But how data is collected, stored and used can mean the difference between success and failure. Tim Dobermann and Shahrukh Wani discuss what leads to success. They write that governments in developing countries often don’t lack data. They simply struggle to use it
Devolve more power to cities: they will need it more than ever
Cities with devolved powers can react more quickly to the pandemic. But many don’t have the control they need to respond to shocks. Astrid R.N. Haas and Shahrukh Wani (International Growth Centre) argue that a reluctance by central governments to devolve power is holding them back
Eclipse Plug-in to Manage User Centered Design
User-centered design (UCD) approach guides the design of user interface (UI) and its evaluation by integrating user experience as part of the software development process. Involving users during the development process by applying UCD techniques minimizes risks and increases the product quality. One of the challenges towards this is to automating the management of UCD activities during the development time thus to steer and control the UCD activities within the development environment of software projects. In this paper, we present a plug-in for Eclipse development platform to manage UCD activities at the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) level. We develop and evaluate the plug-in with teams that work according to the agile software development approach. Using this plug-in, the development teams can manage UCD activities at IDE level hence developing high quality software products with adequate level of usability

Economic globalization has increased the demand for businesses to become more competitive than ever before. Lean manufacturing is a management style that focuses on eliminating processes that add no value and are therefore regarded as waste. The focus on the shop floor and the involvement of the operators is one of the primary differences of lean from other management philosophies. As a result, training at all levels of the company is critical to the success of lean manufacturing. Universities should play a role in this process by strengthening student’s lean management abilities and encouraging better and faster integration of students into future enterprises, that’s why a Lean and Process Optimization training program is developed to train the students.
This thesis paper contains instructions for 2 days Lean Training Program and examples of the test run of this training, which was performed and created in the production lab of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. The Lego "Car Assembly Plant" game was created to educate and use many lean tools such as Ishikawa, 5S, VSM, line balance, JIT, and the Pull Principle in order to continuously improve and optimize the assembly process. Milling Machine is used to teach SMED in this Training Program
پاکستان کا ایک شوریدہ سر شاعر، ن م راشد – کچھ معروضات
This is a translation of an interview of Rashed by an Irani journalist, Shahrukh Irshad, published in 1968 in Tehran. Dr. Tahseen Firaqi has furnished his translations with his own notes as well. Persian translations of two of Rashed’s poems by the interviewer are also included. These are one of the earlier of modern Urdu poetry in Pakistan
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
