There are two types of language acquisition, Natural and formal. In natural type children usually got their second language through their interaction with their friends when they are playing. For adults, they got their second language through their interaction with their community. The community “force” them to learn or understand the laguage used by the most speaker at the place. So, the person can speak the language without learning from formal school. Indonesia formal type, a learner has to follow the lesson inside of classroom under guidance of teacher. It is not true the statemant said that formal type will have a better result Indonesia language learning. Behavioritic theory told us that language or second language can reach through practicing the language Indonesia speaking. Because of that, someone who wants to master a language has to receive stimulus and answer the stimulus given. But mentalistic theory told us that language is innate owned by human being as a gift inside of their mind. The theory tols us that language is not a habit. Because of that human doesn’t need learn their language. They will master language or second language through interacting with other people. There are 4 factors that influence the language acquisition. First is motivation from inside of the learner. Second is age of the learner. Third is taching and learning process and the last is first language which was masterd by the learner

In PP No 32 tahun 2013, it was found that four of eight national educational standards has significantly changed. The four standards are: 1) the graduation compentency standard has been revised and renewed in Permendikbud No 54 Tahun 2013; 2) the content standard is renewed in Permendikbud No 64 Tahun 2013; 3) the process standard is renewed in Permendikbud No 65 Tahun 2013; and 4) evaluation standard is renewed in Permendikbud No 66 Tahun 2013. One of the four standards that is very interesting to discsuss is the process standard which is focusing on how the ideal model of a teacher plans, implements, and evaluates teaching and learning process. This process standard is one of the curriculum anatomies which covers a model, approach, strategy, method, and technique of teaching implemented by a teacher in administering the content of learning to achieve the goals of teaching has been made. This paper tries to explore the characteristics of ideal teaching targeted by the national curriculum 2013 which is focusing on the principles of learning, characteristics, planning, and the implementation of curriculum 2013

EFL Students' Views of the Multicultural Education in an Indonesian Islamic Higher Education

Education cannot be separated from culture. It is possible to provide learning and be tolerant of other cultures. Multicultural education offers diverse cultures, ethnicity, and religion. The study aims to explore students' views of multicultural education in learning at an Indonesian Islamic higher education. It employs a descriptive study by applying a quantitative approach. By considering the ethnic and study program, respondents in this study were determined through the purposive sampling technique by involving 25 students from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UINSI Samarinda, each representing five different study programs in the faculty. They enrolled as Ma’had Al-Jami’ah students obligated to study English in their initial semester. They were chosen from various study programs because they came from different ethnic backgrounds. This study collects data with a questionnaire instrument distributed online through a Google Forms. Descriptive statistics were used to tabulate and present the quantitative data collected from the questionnaire. The findings in this study provide an overview of the different perspectives of students at Islamic higher education on multicultural education in their learning. This study groups students' views of multicultural education in learning at Islamic higher education into three categories, (1) Highly Supportive on Multicultural Education, (2) Moderately Supportive on Multicultural Education, and (3) Lowly Supportive on Multicultural Education. Most of them have understood the values of multicultural education and are very supportive of its implementation in every lecture and campus policy but there are still students who do not understand the values of this multicultural education. Continuous studies are necessary to support the application of this multicultural education from time to time according to the needs of each institution

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
