Mediating role of attitude, behavioral control, and stakeholders' support on the relationship between entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurial intentions of it employees in Pakistan
Pakistan being a developing country has a high rate of unemployment among young population. This present study examines the effects of entrepreneurial skills on developing entrepreneurial intentions of IT employee of Punjab, Pakistan. The study also examines the mediating role of attitude towards behavior, perceived behavioral control, and stakeholders’ support system in the relationship between entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurial intentions. The probing into the literature of concepts and conceptualizations of the theories permitted a theoretical framework that identified the research issues and the research gap. The data were collected from IT employees working with SECP registered companies in Punjab, Pakistan using a cross-sectional study design. The study used simple random sampling technique to the selected 398 employees working with Information Technology (IT) companies in Punjab, Pakistan. For the initial data screening SPSS 20 was used, and then the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the present study hypotheses. This study found the significant mediating effects of attitude towards behavior, perceived behavioral control, and stakeholders’ support system on the relationship between EPS, LS, MS, PMS, and TS and entrepreneurial intentions of IT employees in Punjab, Pakistan. The findings of this study further reveal that entrepreneurial intentions depend on the degree of EPS, LS, MS, PMS, and TS. The results of this study provide important insights to the policy making institutions, government, and the researchers to further understand the effects of entrepreneurial skills on developing entrepreneurial intentions and mediating role of attitude towards behavior, perceived behavioral control, and stakeholders’ support system. The findings of this research extended to the body of knowledge on entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurial intentions in Pakistani context
Exploring consumer behavioral intentions toward energy-efficient vehicles: an empirical study for advancing sustainable development goals
Purpose
This study aims to examine the key factors influencing consumer behavioral intentions toward energy-efficient vehicles (EEVs) in the context of promoting renewable energy and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it focuses on SDG 7 (“affordable and clean energy”) and SDG 13 (“climate action”). The research investigates how the theory of consumption values – functional, symbolic, emotional and conditional values – shapes consumers’ intentions, with attitudes toward EEVs as a mediating factor.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative research methodology was used, with data collected through structured surveys. The data was analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the relationships between consumption values and consumer behavioral intentions toward EEVs. The mediating effect of attitudes toward EEV adoption was also examined in this model.
Findings
The study found that consumer behavioral intentions toward EEVs are significantly influenced by consumption values, with functional value having the greatest impact. Attitudes toward EEV adoption played a crucial mediating role in the relationship between consumption values and behavioral intentions. Symbolic, emotional and conditional values also contributed positively, though to a lesser extent than functional value.
Originality/value
This research offers novel insights into the factors driving consumer interest in EEVs, providing a comprehensive understanding of how consumption values shape attitudes and intentions. The findings provide practical value for policymakers and researchers in crafting strategies to accelerate EEV adoption, contributing to the achievement of global sustainability goals. The use of PLS-SEM enhances the rigor of the analysis, making this study a valuable contribution to both academic and practical discussions on sustainable transportation
Exploring link between skills, attitudes, and intentions in information technology industry: a study on entrepreneurial mindset
The study seeks to determine the relationship among entrepreneurial skills, attitude towards behaviour (ATB), and the entrepreneurial goals of IT professionals. With implications for comprehending entrepreneurship in a service-oriented business, this study explores how ATB connects abilities and intents using the theory of planned behaviour. With an emphasis on technology-driven niches, the study develops theoretical models and improves theory on how attitudes and skills interact to impact entrepreneurial intentions by incorporating ATB as a moderating variable of interest. Simple random sampling was used to pick the sample from a cross-sectional survey of 376 IT professionals, and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to investigate the hypothesized association between the variables. According to the results, ATB moderates the link between skills and intentions, suggesting that fostering both skill and intention development will support the growth of entrepreneurial ability. This realization has significant ramifications for politicians, educators, and practitioners in terms of establishing favourable environments, developing logical skill-building exercises, and encouraging optimistic entrepreneurial attitudes. According to identified factors, stakeholders have the ability to improve the climate for entrepreneurship and support economic growth. This study advances the theoretical understanding of entrepreneurship, particularly as it relates to the creation of intent in the technology sector
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Examining Relation among Entrepreneurial Leadership, Innovative Work Behavior, & Innovation Support
Due to the increased competition in today’s business world and industrial revolution 4.0, many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) undergo swift and vigorous changes. For this reason, SMEs were expected to pay their attention to innovative work behaviors (IWB) to ensure survival in the competitive world. This research evaluates the effect of entrepreneurial leadership (EL) dimensions (including communicative, motivational, strategic, and personal) on innovative work behavior (IWB) of people employed in SMEs of Oman. Moreover, mediating role of innovation support (IS) is examined on the relationship of entrepreneurial leadership (EL) and innovative work behavior (IWB). Data were collected through personally administered survey questionnaires from the population of SME sector employees and managers in Oman. A total of 211 usable responses were collected and then further analyzed through SmartPLS 3.3.3 (PLS-SEM) software while a two-stage reflective-formative analysis of higher-order and lower-order constructs was conducted. The results exhibit that entrepreneurial leadership and innovation support have a significant positive impact on innovative work behavior (IWB). Additionally, a mediating role of innovation support was also confirmed on the relationship between EL and IWB. All four dimensions of entrepreneurial leadership (EL) were reported with a substantial direct and indicted effect on innovative work behavior (IWB) of people employed in SME sector in Oman. This is a pioneer study in Oman that examined the influence of entrepreneurial leadership (EL) dimensions on innovative work behavior (IWB) and mediating role of innovation support using a reflective-formative higher order analysis. Finally, practical and theoretical implications along with future research directions were suggested at the end of this research
