Generalizations of Weighted Trapezoidal Inequality for Mappings of Bounded Variation and their Applications

    No full text
In this paper, we establish some generalizations of weighted trapezoid inequality for mappings of bounded variation, and give several applications for r − moment, the expectation of a continuous random variable and the Beta mapping

Bilindi i üzere lkö retim programlar n n önemli konular ndan birini olu turan çevre e itiminin önemi giderek artmaktad r. Ara t rmada nicel ara t rma yöntemi kullan lm t r. Giresun Üniversitesi ve Ni de Üniversitesi E itim Fakültesi S n f Ö retmenli i Anabilim Dal nda ö renim gören 1 ve 2. s n f ö rencileri bu ara t rman n çal ma grubunu olu turmaktad r. Veri toplama arac olarak Yeni Çevresel Paradigma Ölçe i kullan lm t r. Ara t rma ile s n f ö retmeni adaylar n n; do a merkezli yakla m ve insan merkezli yakla m düzeyleri tespit edilmi ve do a merkezli yakla m düzeyleri daha yüksek bulunmu tur. Bunun yan nda ö retmen adaylar n n çevresel tutumlar n n; cinsiyet, s n f düzeyi, ö renim türü ve çevre e itimi dersini alma durumlar de i kenlerine göre farkl l k gösterip göstermedi i incelenmi ve bu çerçevede öneriler getirilmi tir.As it is known the importance of environmental education, one of the most important subjects of primary school educational programs, is increasing. The basic of this education is constructed by family and primary school teachers. As it is at all grades, in primary school it is aimed to build up individuals sensitive about and having positive attitudes to environment. This aim can be reached at with teachers having adequate implement and caring about environment. It should be useful to indicate the environmental attitudes of pre-service teachers to lecture about environment after several years. Thus, within this work it has been aimed to indicate the environmental attitudes of pre-service teachers on primary school teaching by examining in terms of various variables. Quantitative Research Model has been used. The 1st and 2nd grade students of Nigde University and Giresun University Education Faculty, Primary School Teaching Departments have composed the research group. New Environmental Paradigm Scale has been used as means. With this research the level of nature-centered and human-centered approach of preservice teachers has been designated and it has been found that their naturecentered approach level is higher. Beside, the significance of the environmental attitudes of pre-service teachers according to the gender, grade level, education style and attending to environmental education course has been examined and suggestions has been stated

A wall of despair: The interplay of the Turkish wall and foreign policy in Syria

    No full text
The wall constructed along the Turkish-Syrian border is one of the new wave of border barriers built in the twenty-first century and represents a radical shift in Turkey’s Middle East policy. The decision to erect the “Turkish Wall” was the result of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government’s desire to improve relations with the European Union, Russia, and the United States in the context of the Syrian Civil War. This article uses the concept of “fortified boundaries” as its framework to analyze the transformed border

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    No full text
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

In this study, we define the double sequence space Ces_r and examine some properties of this sequence space. Furthermore, we determine the β(r)-dual of the space Ces_r

"Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"

    No full text
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
