Security in insecurity : pastoral care of women with cancer - an empirical, theological study
Looking back over seventeen years spent working as Hospital Chaplain in the Gynaecological Department at the University Hospital Innsbruck, it becomes clear to the author that the pastoral care of the cancer patients presents a massive challenge, exposing feelings in the patients of immense trauma and bewilderment. Suffering, pain, angst for life and death confront the patients on a daily basis. The interviews show how they are filled with a deep sense of insecurity as they experience the rawness of human limitation. This leads to the question: what actually gives human existence a sense of security? Theology and Pastoral Care are both tasked with finding an answer. The question concerned provokes interest and creates an incentive to explore this theme which is dealt with in the first chapter.
The word "security" (both the experience of and the source of) is indeed found in pastoral vocabulary but is not present in the Lexicon for Theology and Church (Lexikon für Theologie und Kirche). Therefore, the author attempts through disciplinary discourse to present the term as theologically sound, i.e. as an ecclesiastical term of salvation in pastoral thinking and action. This attempt pervades the whole thesis, not in the form of a complete idea, but rather as a fragmentary, theologically-inspired hypothesis, which can expand and contribute to the understanding of hospital chaplaincy.
This empirical, theological study, "Security in Insecurity", opens the door to the internal world of the women diagnosed with breast cancer. It shows her "joys and sadness, fears and hopes" (GS1) which the author attempts to consider theologically in the light of the Gospels as "consolation in a state of fragility", "accompanying on the descent", "prayer in lamentation" and also as "a place of revelation". Decarbonising residential sector of Indonesia by strengthening energy efficiency and rooftop PV policies
Indonesia has ambitious targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 29 to 41% by 2030 and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. The residential sector in Indonesia consumes close to fifty percent of the country’s overall electricity demand. In the last decade, the residential demand for power has doubled, indicating a substantial rise. As a country with more than 17,000 islands, it is crucial to tackle the global warming implications including rising sea levels, significant drought risk, and rainfall fluctuations due to increased emissions arising from the surging energy consumption of Indonesia. Renewable energy installations, especially solar rooftop, and energy efficiency initiatives are some effective strategies to reduce Indonesia’s household emissions. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to study the decarbonisation potential of the residential sector’s supply and demand sides through energy-efficient appliances, efficient building envelope design, and rooftop PV deployment. This report majorly addresses the research gap in evaluating the impact of continuous revision to appliance performance standards and the impact of current efficiency standards fixed by the government. To answer the research problem, three scenarios from 2023 to 2030 are designed; business as usual, government policy, and ambitious. Using the bottom-up stock model method, the projected electricity consumption of four appliances (air conditioner, refrigerator, rice cooker, and LED lamps) was determined. For rooftop PV, the electricity production was forecasted using the PVwatts software, and scenarios were created based on government targets, and considering the high rooftop PV growth in Vietnam. Finally, the policy recommendations were proposed after analysing the electricity saved, mitigated emissions, and generating costs saved in these scenarios from the residential sector. The analysis of Indonesia’s residential demand sector revealed that efficient building envelope and appliance alone can cut the residential sector’s electricity use by 18% by 2030. In addition, it was observed that the energy consumption of appliances could stabilise by 2030 as a consequence of aggressive energy efficiency policy measures. Among the four appliances analysed, air conditioners provide the largest energy savings (about 60 percent) due to their higher energy use and greater household penetration in coming years as a result of urbanisation and higher living standards. Existing mandated efficiency standards for refrigerators are well below the average efficiency in the market, preventing energy savings and market transformation to- wards efficient appliances. Significant financial savings owing to the elimination of fossil fueled power generation due to demand-side interventions amount to two billion US dollars. While analysing the supply side of Indonesia’s residential sector, it was observed that in ambitious scenario for rooftop PV may reach 79 GW by 2030 which would lead to decarbonisation of the supply side of residential side by 50%. In the optimistic scenario, the rooftop PV penetration in households could reach 64% by 2030, considering 1 kWp per house and the total rooftop area required for rooftop PV could be around 250 million square metres. The savings on the supply side resulting from the elimination of fossil fuel generation are close to 6 billion dollars. Considering the demand and supply interventions, the net demand for energy from the grid in the residential sector of Indonesia could be 165 TWh, 130 TWh, and 57 TWh under the three different decarbonisation scenarios. These measures can cut the net electricity consumptionfrom grid in the residential sector by 65%. These demand and supply solutions would enable Indonesia to achieve at least 20 percent of its NDC target by 2030, which is crucial given that the current emission contribution of residential buildings in Indonesia is close to 16%. The results clearly demonstrate the enormous potential for decarbonising the residential sector in Indonesia, both on the supply and demand sides. This analysis resulted in some policy recommendations, one of which is that Indonesia could revise energy performance thresholds for appliances every two years as energy savings could double as compared to a scenario following the current revision cycle. The current efficiency standard for refrigerator is non impactful and may be ratcheted up soon. Like in the case of Vietnam, the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) could potentially increase the deployment of rooftop PV, so it is suggested to implement FiT for rooftop PV in Indonesia. For further research, it is suggested that financial constraints and economic impact of energy efficiency solutions from consumers’ perspective could be explored, energy savings from other widely used appliances like fans, CFL lamps could be investigated and the impact of setting minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for rooftop PV in Indonesia could be further analysed.Electrical Engineering | Sustainable Energy Technolog

Predicting pedestrian path using optical flow as context cue
A human driver can gauge the intention and signals given by other road users indicative of their future behaviour. The intentions and signals are identified by looking at the cues originating from vulnerable road users or their surroundings (hand signals, head orientation, posture, traffic signals, distance to curb, etc.). Taking all these cues into account by creating a separate detector for each is an extremely difficult task. Instead, this MSc Thesis will explore the possibility of using a generic contextual cue in optical flow originating from a pedestrian with deep learning methods to improve the path prediction in a naturalistic driving scenario. The contribution of this work is to examine multiple ways to extract relevant information from the optical flow and also explore the possibility of using the entire the high-dimensional optical flow using convolutions and soft-attention to help identify relevant pixels for the prediction task. This work elaborates on the extraction and processing of optical flow features. It proposes 2 Recurrent neural networks (RNN) based model: one to work with the histogram of optical flow features and the other one to take in the dense optical flow directly. Also, visualization of the soft-attention weights is done to add a step that helps in the interpretability of the RNN model incorporating dense optical flow. From the experimental results, optical flow features have shown significant improvements in terms of predicting probabilistic confidence for tracks with some changes in their motion mode. It was seen that the convolution-attention RNN model was able to work with dense optical flow features and position of pedestrians as input to obtain better results among all the combinations of features and models compared in this work
Tinjauan Yuridis Terhadap Perbuatan Zina Dalam Persfektif Hukum Islam Dan Hukum Positif Studi Kasus Putusan PN Jayapura Nomor 68/PID.B/2015/PNJAP Dan Putusan Nomor 2/JN/2021/MS.MBO
Islam is the majority religion adopted by the Indonesian people. Therefore, Islamic law is also considered important to be enforced in people's daily lives. The application of Islamic law has also been practiced since the Dutch colonial era, but at that time the application of Islamic law was only among the indigenous people of Islam. So with the brief discussion above, we can see the difference between adultery according to Indonesian criminal law and adultery according to Islamic law. Therefore, the author is interested in researching further and more deeply about this legal comparison. And to see the comparison so that it is even more significant the author will analyze two decisions in which the first decision is the author will examine the decision in terms of criminal law and the second is a decision based on qanun or Islamic law. To be more complete and clearer in this study the author raised the title, namely "comparative study of the concept of adultery according to positive law with Islamic law, case study of the verdict of the Jayapura District Court number 68/pid.b/2015/pnjap with the perspective of Islamic law decision number 2/jn/ 2021/ms.mbo” The problem is, first, how is the crime of adultery according to Islamic law and Indonesian criminal law and secondly, how is the comparison of the law of adultery in Islamic law and Indonesian criminal law? This research uses the method of normative legal research. This Normative Legal Research Is Conducted By Only Examining Library Materials Or Secondary Data Only (Soekanto, 2009:13). The results of the research are that the punishment given is of course considered very light and will not have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators and will also not provide a strong threat so that it does not have an impact on the prohibition of committing adultery. This is different from Islamic law which explicitly states that the punishments for adulterers are stoning to death, being flogged a hundred times, and also being exiled. So that with such a punishment, other humans will be afraid to commit adultery because they remember the threat of punishment given. In addition, Indonesian law should also be changed in order to protect teenagers from free sex
