Politik im Tagebuch von Rosa Mayreder in der Zwischenkriegszeit
No full textIn dieser Arbeit wird untersucht, auf welche Weise Politik im Tagebuch von Rosa Mayreder in der Zwischenkriegszeit erscheint. Das Tagebuch der österreichischen Schriftstellerin und Feministin Rosa Mayreder (1858-1938) liegt in zwei Versionen vor. Einer 1988 erschienenen Edition ausgewählter Einträge stehen Mayreders handschriftliche diaristische Aufzeichnungen gegenüber. Auszüge aus letzteren, die je zwei Monate aus den Jahren 1918, 1924, 1929 und 1934 umfassen, wurden für diese Arbeit transkribiert. Das Tagebuch wird in einen biografischen Kontext und in einen Kontext der historischen Entwicklungen in Österreich und der Frauenbewegung in der Zwischenkriegszeit gesetzt. Den methodischen Rahmen für die Analyse bildet das Instrumentarium der „Wiener Kritischen Diskursanalyse“, ergänzt um eine Unterscheidung zwischen Politik im gouvernementalen und Politik im emanzipatorischen Sinne. In der Diskursanalyse zeigt sich, dass in den transkribierten Tagebucheinträgen eine größere Vielfalt an Begriffsdimensionen von Politik herrscht als in der Tagebuchedition. Mayreders politische Ansichten wie ihr Streben nach Individualität und ihre kritische Haltung zur Sozialdemokratie sind in beiden Tagebuchversionen in ihrem Wandel über die Jahre zu beobachten. Aus der Analyse sind bestimmte methodische Probleme wie etwa jenes mit dem Kriterium der Öffentlichkeit eines Diskurses zu erkennen. Vor allem aber zeigt sich das Potential der „Wiener Kritischen Diskursanalyse“, das Tagebuch als Teil eines Diskurses über Politik analysieren zu können. Durch diese Arbeit können dem aus der Edition bekannten Tagebuch von Rosa Mayreder daher neue formale und inhaltliche Aspekte hinzugefügt werden.The main topic of this thesis is to analyse how politics appear in the diary of Rosa Mayreder in the Austrian interwar period. The diary of the feminist author Rosa Mayreder (1858-1938) is available in an edited version published in 1988, and in the original manuscript version. Four sections of the manuscript version were transcribed for this analysis, each of them covering two months of time. These sections were written in 1918, 1924, 1929 and 1934. The diary is set into a biographical context and a historic context of Austria in the interwar period, including the development of Austrian women’s movement. The analytical framework for this study is derived from the Discourse-Historical Approach (DHA) of Ruth Wodak et al. and from a differentiation of governmental versus emancipatory politics. The discourse analysis shows how the transcribed diary entries broaden the range of notions of “politics” compared to what can be found in the edited version. In both versions of the diary it can be observed how Rosa Mayreder’s political views change over the years, e.g. her longing for individuality and her critical attitude towards social democracy. Despite of certain methodological challenges mainly caused by the location of discourse in public space, examining the diary of Rosa Mayreder by means of the DHA shows the advantages of being able to analyse a diary as part of a discourse about politics. As a result, this thesis presents new insights into form and content of Rosa Mayreder's diary

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
