Conclusion : Convergence and divergence in Nordic societal securities
This chapter serves as a conclusion for the edited book on Nordic Societal Security: Convergence and Divergence, edited by Sebastian Larsson and Mark Rhinard. It draws together the book’s main findings and answers its main research question. The chapter outlines key similarities in Nordic security discourses and practices, then identifies areas of clear divergence. It then reflects upon the broader significant of both of these trends, outlining key points for consideration before setting out a three-point agenda for future research. NordSTEV

Trends in body mass index among individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders
Importance: Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are increasingly common. Individuals with NDDs have heightened obesity risks, but long-term data on body mass index (BMI) trends over time in this population are lacking. Objective: To assess secular BMI changes from 2004 to 2020 among children with NDDs compared with those without NDDs. Design, Setting, and Participants: This repeated cross-sectional study used data from the Child and Adolescent Twin Study in Sweden. Children born between January 1, 1992, and December 31, 2010, were screened for neurodevelopmental symptoms using the Autism-Tics, ADHD, and Other Comorbidities inventory between July 2004 and April 2020 when they were 9 or 12 years of age. Data analysis was conducted between September 27, 2023, and January 30, 2024. Main Outcomes and Measures: BMI percentiles (15th, 50th, and 85th) were modeled using quantile regression and compared between youths with and without NDDs. Secular changes in BMI percentiles over time spanning 2004 to 2020 were evaluated and stratified by NDD subtype. Results: The cohort included 24969 Swedish twins (12681 [51%] boys) born between 1992 and 2010, with mean (SD) age of 9 (0.6) years. Of these, 1103 (4%) screened positive for 1 or more NDDs, including ADHD, ASD, and/or learning disability. Results indicated that at the 85th BMI percentile, there was a greater increase in BMI from 2004 to 2020 among youths with NDDs compared with those without NDDs (β for interaction [βint] between NDD status and time, 1.67; 95% CI, 0.39-2.90). The greatest divergence was seen for ASD (βint, 2.12; 95% CI, 1.26-3.70) and learning disability (βint, 1.92; 95% CI, 0.65-3.82). Within the latest cohort (2016-2020), the 85th BMI percentile was 1.99 (95% CI, 1.08-2.89) points higher among children with NDDs compared with those without NDDs. Conclusions and Relevance: In this repeated cross-sectional study, at the higher end of the BMI distribution, children with NDDs had significantly greater increases in BMI compared with peers without NDDs over a 16-year period, highlighting an increasing risk of overweight over time in youths with NDDs compared with those without NDDs. Targeted obesity prevention efforts for this high-risk population are needed.</p

Polish Photographer Jan Malisz about Carl Larsson
In 1912 the Warsaw newspaper “The Illustrated Weekly” published an article about the Swedish painter Carl Larsson (1853–1919). The author of this text was a Polish Photographer, polyglot and art connoisseur Jan Malisz (1878–1928), who initiated the professional movement of photographers in Galicia. In 1908, he founded a branch of the Austrian Union of Photographers in Cracow, and in 1909, in Lviv. His artistic horizons also encompassed Scandinavian art, one of whose representatives was Carl Larsson. Malisz noticed in his paintings certain features which, after many years, have let Larsson and his wife Karin be recognised in Europe as the precursors of Swedish model manufacture and interior design. The phenomenon of the accuracy of Malisz’s remark results from the fact that he was Larsson’s friend for many years. The spiritual understanding between the Swede and the Pole was neither impeded by a significant age difference nor by their different political views, as Malisz was a socialist, whereas Larsson supported absolutism. The letters from Malisz to Larsson are kept in the University Library in Uppsala.W 1912 roku warszawski „Tygodnik Ilustrowany” zamieścił tekst o szwedzkim malarzu Carlu Larssonie (1853–1919). W roku 1908 założył on filię ogólnoaustriackiego Związku Fotografów w Krakowie, a w 1909 we Lwowie. Fenomen trafności spostrzeżeń J. Malisza wynikał z bliskiej i długoletniej przyjaźni z Carlem Larssonem. W porozumieniu duchowym Szweda z Polakiem nie przeszkodziła znaczna różnica wieku ani różne poglądy polityczne. Malisz był socjalistą, a Larsson zwolennikiem absolutyzmu. Listy J. Malisza do C. Larssona przechowywane są w Bibliotece Uniwersyteckiej w Uppsali
An analysis of the life, work, and social change created by author Stieg Larsson
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the life of Swedish author Stieg Larsson and how his career as a journalist and activist lead him to create the global phenomenon, The Millennium Trilogy. Through writing about international political themes, Larsson successfully tells a tale of a female heroine, Lisbeth Salander, who overcomes her tragic destiny. Originally written in Swedish, Larsson creates a cultural assimilation through writing about universal themes, such as computer hacking and crimes against humanity. The three novels, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest are together called the Millennium Trilogy, and after only 6 years of publication, sold more than 65 million copies in more than 44 different languages. The novels are additionally the first major block buster books about social networking. Unfortunately, Larsson never saw the success of his novels, having died before their publication. This thesis will search for the truth behind the fiction by using current events that reflect the issues he proposes. It will also explore the idea of writing as a medium for social change by enlightening readers through journalism and literature. Through discussing the international success of the novels, this thesis aims to show the power of universal themes in transcending cultural barriers to create awareness of global issues. The books have not only become a symbol of pop culture, but also a symbol for social justice. The Millennium Trilogy is a series of crime novels that are a delivery system for social activism in the 21st century that incorporates contemporary technology as well as traditional “who dun it” story lines
Nordic Societal Security
This book compares and contrasts publicly espoused security concepts in the Nordic region, and explores the notion of societal security. Outside observers often assume that Nordic countries take similar approaches to the security and safety of their citizens. This book challenges that assumption and traces the evolution of ‘societal security’, and its broadly equivalent concepts, in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The notion of societal security is deconstructed and analysed in terms of its different meanings and implications for each country, through both country- and issue-focused studies. Each chapter traces the evolution of key security concepts and related practices, allowing for a comparison of similarities and differences between these four countries. Using discourses and practices as evidence, this is the first book to explore how different Nordic nations have conceptualised domestic security over time. The findings will be valuable to scholars from across the geographical and theoretical spectrum, while highlighting how Nordic security discourses and practices may deviate from traditional assumptions about Nordic values. This book will be of much interest to students of security studies, Nordic politics and International Relations.
Title: The Future Project Manager, in a globalized and digitized construction industry. Author: Sebastian Larsson Supervisor: Radhlinah Aulin, Senior lecturer at the Department of Building and Environmental Technology, Division of Construction Management, Lund University. Examinator: Anne Landin, Professor at the Department of Building and Environmental Technology, Division of Construction Management, Lund University. Purpose:The purpose of this study is to examine what knowledge project managers possess today and if they are ready to tackle the current digital and global development that will affect the future of the construction industry. Further, requirements in knowledge and competence that future project managers need to possess to be successful in the future will be identified. Research questions: How has the role as a project manager changed through history? What knowledge and competences within digitalization and globalization does the project managers possess today? What requirements should future project managers face to be able to cope with the current development in digitalization and globalization? Method: This study is based on a thorough literature study which lays the foundation to a number of interviews with project managers active within the construction industry. The project managers have varied backgrounds and experiences and work in both consultant- and productioncompanies. In total has eight project managers been interviewed, working at four different companies. The interviews have contained questions considering a wide range of the work that is impacted by both digitalization and globalization. Conclusion: The study shows that the role as a project manager is constantly evolving. Since the concept was first used, the tasks expected from a project manager have gotten far more in numbers and has moved towards more soft skills considering leadership. The project manager of today shows limited knowledge when it comes to new technology within the construction sector and have little to no way of knowing how to get this knowledge. The project manager of today seem to possess soft skills considering leadership that will be important in the future but it is unlikely that a single project manager possesses all of them. Experience in working with different cultures is limited and routines when working in virtual project teams is lacking. The future project manager will know how to use digital tools effectively, both in communication and as a part of a business model. Further, the future project manager will have the knowledge to safely handle large quantities of digital information. In addition to the support that future project managers will require from their organizations, they still need to remain openminded towards new technology and continue to stay curious
