(131)I exhalation by patients undergoing therapy of thyroid diseases
No full textIn the departments of nuclear medicine, patients are treated with relatively large activities of (131)I for therapeutic purposes. The applied activities are in the range of 200-10 000 MBq. Consequently, individuals situated in the dwellings of the patients dismissed from the hospital are subjected to an external as well as an internal radioiodine exposition. Internal exposition is due to the inhalation of (131)I exhaled by the patients. In this article, the measurements of radioactivity exhaled by patients with various thyroid diseases, treated with (131)I in the department of Nuclear Medicine of the Radiological Centre in Goettingen and in the Hospital of Nuclear Medicine in Wuerzburg are presented. The measurements of activities exhaled by patients were repeated daily, up to 25 d after the treatment. In addition, the residual activities were monitored by measuring the external dose rates, and by measuring the (131)I activity in the urine of these patients. In some cases, the exhaled radioiodine was separated into three fractions: the elemental, the organically bound and the aerosol-bound iodine fraction. On the basis of the proposed measurements, the doses received by the family members of a discharged patient treated with (131)I were estimated by a model calculation
CAPRI versus AGLINK-COSIMO: Two partial equilibrium models - Two baseline approaches
Full text linkThe agricultural modelling world has generated several models aiming at the analysis of the response of the sector to certain changes in exogenous mainly policy variables. Among those, the CAPRI modelling system developed by a consortium centred on the University of Bonn and the AGLINK-COSIMO model, a joint product of the OECD and the FAO, are well known and accepted as comprehensive tools. This analysis focuses on a qualitative comparison of both models and particularly on the process of setting up the baseline. The baseline is a medium-term projection of agricultural markets reflecting current policies and those already decided upon. This projection in turn serves as the base for comparisons when analyzing scenarios. It is shown that CAPRI uses generic and automatic procedures whenever possible for conducting the database and the baseline, while AGLINK-COSIMO puts more emphasis on expert knowledge in this process. Both approaches are shown to have certain advantages while the conclusion that a combination of them would potentially improve both models will be drawn from this analysis.CAPRI, AGLINK-COSIMO, Baseline process, Agricultural and Food Policy,
Third-generation fiction on World War II and the Holocaust (with a Schulzian touch): The “Contrapuntal” Cases of Piotr Paziński and Erwin Mortier
Full text linkThe paper is a comparative analysis of the „schulzoid” and „contrapuntal” novels by Piotr Paziński (The Boarding House) and Erwin Mortier (Marcel). A comparison of the novels is, however, a pretext to approach a much more complex topic which is the representation of trauma by the third post-Holocaust generation, both from the point of view of the victims (Paziński), and that of the oppressors (Mortier). The author has identified characteristic Schulzian motifs which in The Boarding House and Marcel have different functions: the autobiographical setting, the child-narrator, the tension between harmony and discord of remembrance, fascination with trash, and interest in the myths of genesis. Schulz – both the style of his fiction and he himself as a Holocaust victim – has turned into a significant figure for a generation, connecting two seemingly diverse discourses of Paziński and Mortier

Hoffmann, Max Blecher, and – perhaps not surprisingly – Franz Kafka. Selecting from the world of Schulz three specific motifs: the city, the mannequin, and the metaphysical machine, he demonstrates that the writer from Drogobych joined, for the most part unawares, the mainstream of European modernism both in its literary and artistic varieties, including the self-reflexive art of Marcel Duchamp

Para isso, analisarei a tradução de Marcel Proust para o francês e seu paratexto e a tradução para o castelhano feita por Miguel Catalán e o respectivo paratexto.This study analises the translations of Sesame and Lilies, by John Ruskin, into French and Spanish in order to examine issues related to the essay as a literary genre, to the translation of essays and to authorship. This exam will be carried out by analising the translation into French by Marcel Proust and its paratext and the translation into Spanish by Miguel Catalán, accompanied by its paratext

C’est son aventure à la tête de l’OFCE que ce livre raconte, ou plutôt qu’il laisse l’auteur lui-même conter au travers d’articles écrits depuis le premier jour de son premier mandat de Président de notre institution. Ce recueil s’ouvre sur une introduction qui rappelle l'attachement du fondateur de l’OFCE au « libéralisme intellectuel», cette indépendance vis-à-vis des idées reçues qu’il jugeait indispensable à la conduite de politiques publiques raisonnables. Il est ensuite structuré en trois parties dont les titres font écho à une oe uvre marquante de Jean-Marcel Jeanneney : Vouloir le débat public en économie, Une mémoire au service de la prospective et Écoute le monde qui vient : intégration globale et unification européenne. Ce volume est un hommage à la mémoire de Jean-Marcel Jeanneney mais plus encore à sa présence. Les textes rassemblés ici par Jean-Paul Fitoussi et Éloi Laurent nous rappellent l’actualité des enseignements les plus précieux de Jean-Marcel Jeanneney : honnêteté, courage et espérance.
VERY MUCH: A Poppy Hyperfolk Extended Play
No full textMichael Schulz is a Brooklyn based songwriter, producer, and artist going by the name michael MARCEL michael. He draws from his background in live performance - particularly musical theatre, folk music, and storytelling - and mashes it with his more recent passion in electronic production to form his unique cohesive sound, which he has penned ‘poppy hyperfolk’. This unique cohesive sound is defined by thoughtful and intentional juxtaposition. It is minimal and heavy processing. It is vulnerability and hiding under the veneer of digital affectation. michael MARCEL michael uses this unique cohesive sound to craft this project which is the culmination of his experience at BerkleeNYC. The project took the shape of a five track extended play titled VERY MUCH, where he draws on experiences and blends them with fiction to create a world of his own in its tight, roughly 15 minute runtime. michael MARCEL michael sets out to focus on things felt so immensely that they must be written down in order to process, and he has created a soundscape entirely his own to accompany that.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1168/thumbnail.jp
