Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphorous insecticide whose main effect consists in the inhibition of
acetylcholinesterase enzyme. It is very toxic for fish, but little is still known about its consequences on organs
excluding the central nervous system. The goal of the present study was to evaluate the effects of CPF in gill,
kidney and liver of feminine sub-adult specimens of rainbow trout. Behavioural observations were also carried
out to confirm the absorption of the insecticide by the fish. The experiment lasted 96 h and was carried out in
semi-static conditions, involving 170 individuals. 70 specimens were exposed to LC50 of CPF dissolved in
ethanol, 50 to ethanol only and 50 weren't treated. Every 24 h, behavioural responses were detected, and then 15
fish were caught and subjected to anatomopathological exam. Samples of gills, liver and kidney were collected
for histological analyses. Specimens exposed to CPF showed longer time of response and a gradual loss of
movement control. The anatomopathological examination didn't highlight any gross lesion. The histological
analyses revealed that the ethanol interfered with the detection of CPF effects on gills and kidney, while a mild
turbid degeneration of the hepatocytes in liver was attributed to the sole insecticide

ZOONOTIC HELMINTHS IN LACUSTRINE FISH FROM NORTHERN ITALY
According to EFSA Scientific Opinion on risk assessment of parasites in fishery products issued in 2010, all wild fish
should be considered at risk of containing any viable zoonotic parasites if eaten raw or almost raw, pointing out the
need to carry out epidemiological surveys on presence/diffusion of zoonotic parasites in all fishery grounds. With this
regard, in the framework of a research project (RF-2010-2311360) financed by the Italian Ministry of Health, a
parasitological survey aimed at assessing qualitative and quantitative data on zoonotic helminths in commercially
important fish caught in lakes (Maggiore, Como, Iseo, Garda) from northern Italy has been carried out from March 2013
to December 2014. Concerning Diphyllobothriid plerocercoids, abdominal cavity and fillets of 2216 fish (1820 perch, 172
shad, 104 whitefish, 92 burbot and 28 pike) were examined by visual inspection. Diphyllobothrium latum plerocercoids
were found in perch (Maggiore 6.6%; Como 25.4%; Iseo 7.8%), pike (Maggiore 100%; Como 84.2%; Iseo 71.4%) and
burbot (Como 3.6%; Iseo 3.8%), while shad and whitefish were negative. All the fish from Garda Lake were negative.
Moreover, 239 cyprinids were analyzed for Opisthorchis felineus metacercariae by microscopical examination of
compressed/digested muscular tissue. All the cyprinids were negative for O. felineus, while metacercariae of the
Opisthorchiid Pseudamphistomum truncatum were detected in 2 tench and 1 rud from Como Lake. These data confirm
D. latum as the most important fish-borne zoonotic helminth in the areas under study and identify the consumption of
raw perch (“perch carpaccio”) as the main source of infection
Antioxidant biomarker survey ensuing long-term selenium withdrawal in Acipenser baeri fed Se-cysteine diets
Two selenium withdrawal periods, 30 and 90 days, were considered for sturgeon fed 90 days three Se-cysteine diets (1.25, 5, 20 mg kg(-1)). Subsequently Acipenser baeri was fed the previous control diet (0.32 mg Se kg(-1)) for 90 days. Levels of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidases, glutathione reductase, glyoxalase-II and malondialdehyde were determined in liver and kidney. Chemical analyses were carried out for the same tissues and for muscle. A reduction of Se levels in all tissues was recorded and the metalloid concentration decreased more quickly in liver than in kidney and muscle. At the end of the withdrawal Se concentration in muscle remained high in specimens previously fed 20 mg Se kg(-1) diet, and disturbance of key antioxidant enzymes was recorded in liver and kidney. Moreover, alterations in glutathione peroxidases, and glyoxalase-II activities persisted even after 90 withdrawal days and were indicative of oxidative stress induced by Se-cysteine concentrations. Mixed mycobacterial infection in an adult koi carp Cyprinus carpio L
Mycobacteriosis, caused by many different rapidlygrowingMycobacteriumspp, affects a variety ofwild and farmed fish. Affected fish usually shownodular gross lesions in internal organs, anorexia, melanosis and exophthalmia. Diagnosis is usually based on cultural, histopatho-logical and, more recently, molecular investiga-tions. Moreover, piscine mycobacteriosis is aminor zoonosis, causing cutaneous nodular andulcerative lesions in humans and currentlyrepresents a health risk for both fish hobbyists andprofessional fish farmers
APPLICAZIONE DELL’EPIDEMIOLOGIA NELLA SANITÀ DELLE POPOLAZIONI ITTICHE: UNA GRANDE OPPORTUNITÀ
Fino a tempi relativamente recenti, la ricerca epid
emiologica era focalizzata sulle patologie umane e
degli
animali terrestri, mentre pochi studi si occupavano
della sanità degli animali acquatici. Negli ultimi
i, crescenti pressioni antropiche, fonti idriche li

dalla crescita del settore dell'acquacoltura. Studi
frequenza. Essi si avvalgono dei metodi di indagine
campionaria basati sull’osservazione del fenomeno
(la
malattia) in una popolazione di interesse. Rarament
e è possibile esaminare ogni singolo individuo
dell'intera popolazione (indagine totale o censimen
e
disponibili (economiche, di personale, di laborator
i ecc.) o, in altri casi, poiché l'intera popolazio
l tutto nota. Il principale obiettivo di un campion

è raccogliere informazioni che consentiranno di gen
eralizzare all'intera popolazione i risultati otten

campione. Scopo del presente lavoro è illustrare le
modalità utilizzate per stabilire alcuni protocoll
i di
campionamento delle popolazioni ittiche selvatiche
dei bacini lacustri dell’Italia settentrionale e de
lle
specie ittiche che vengono allevate in sistemi conn
essi agli ambienti acquatici lacustri. Innanzitutto
occorre
ccessive saranno esposte alcune esperienze concrete
mpionamento. In particolare si fa riferimento alla
pianificazione delle attività svolte nell’ambito de
lla ricerca finalizzata “Indagine epidemiologica su
lle
zoonosi parassitarie trasmesse dai pesci d’acqua do
lce”.
ati
epidemiologici esaurienti sui parassiti zoonotici p
resenti nelle popolazioni ittiche di diversi ambien
ti
lacustri e d’allevamento in Italia settentrionale,
go, pescati da pescatori professionali in profondit
ufficientemente piccolo. 2) verificare l’esistenza
mo,
Iseo, Maggiore e Garda).
I dati presentati descrivono come
uno
studio epidemiologico per essere valido debba esser
e attentamente progettato; inoltre alcuni limiti in
trinseci
onario”. E’ quindi necessario ricorrere a tecniche
statistiche relativamente complesse mediante le qua

MICOBATTERIOSI ATIPICA DA MYCOBACTERIUM ABSCESSUS IN STORIONE RUSSO (ACIPENSER GUELDENSTAEDTII): PRIMA SEGNALAZIONE
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
