savin vige
saving ppl... all were eagerly going north on the chance of a "savin vige," as the season's work was called. The year before and for several years, the haul had been light; but the men were always buoyed up by hope in the great gamble of the Labrador, the gamble for their/very existencecod being practically their only means of livelihood.PRINTED ITEM DNE-cit DNE-citJH W. Γ-convergence for nonlocal phase transitions
We discuss the Γ-convergence, under the appropriate scaling, of the energy functional∥u∥ Hs(Ω) 2+∫ ΩW(u)dx, with s∈(0,1), where ∥u∥H s (Ω) denotes the total contribution from Ω in the H s norm of u, and W is a double-well potential. When s∈[1/2,1), we show that the energy Γ-converges to the classical minimal surface functional - while, when s∈(0,1/2), it is easy to see that the functional Γ-converges to the nonlocal minimal surface functional

Complementary or adverse? Comparing development results of official funding from China and traditional donors in Africa
While China has become an important source of aid and other official funding for Africa, its coordination with other development partners remains limited, and its contribution to development has been questioned. Despite different development models represented by China and traditional donors, recent studies demonstrated that funding from the two has similar determinants, but little was done to systematically compare their role for development. The paper evaluate their impacts on infrastructure, governance, external debt sustainability and dependence on natural resources. Furthermore, we explore whether there are (dis)advantages from the presence of both donors. Overall, we find that China has similar, beneficial, impact when compared with traditional donors on all the development dimensions but debt. The presence of both donors, in turn, has a positive effect on debt sustainability, but negative impacts on the other dimensions. We interpret these results based on effective development cooperation principles of ownership, alignment, harmonisation, and accountability
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Maximum Probability Domains in Crystals: The Rock-Salt Structure
The present paper studies MX crystals in rock-salt structure (M: Li, Na, K; X: F, Cl, Br, I). They are often described as being formed by ions. Pictures based on quantum mechanical calculations sustain and quantify it. The tools used are (i) the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules, (ii) the Electron Localization Function, and (iii) the maximization of the probability to find in a spatial domain a number of electrons equal to that of the ion under consideration. The present paper shows that the images provided by these three different tools to analyze the quantum mechanical calculations yield, for these systems, very similar results, in the sense that the spatial domains and probability distributions are close. While results for the first two methods are already present in the literature, the last of the methods is applied for the first time to these systems, and details about the method of calculation and program are also given
Genres of epistle and dedication in the art of Russian immigrant poets (S. S. Bekhteev, I. I. Savin)
The purpose of this article is to study the structural and subject-object features of the genre of the letter and dedication in the works of the poets of the first Russian emigration S. S. Bekhteev and I. I. Savin. Within subject-object classification, two types of interaction between the originator and the addressee in the poetry of S. S. Bekhteev and I. I. Savin (according to the classification of E.I. Dmitriev) are characterized, the dependence of this model on a specific genre is revealed. The forms of the letter and dedication are compared on the graphic, ideological, and imaginative levels
Genesis Cycles: Tradition, Theology and Politics:From Cotton Genesis to Saint-Savin-sur Gartempe
The archive of the abbey of Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe (famous for its wallpaintings) is known only from meagre remains. Thus the discovery of two further diplomas, granted to the monastery by Pepin I on 27 February 825 and by Louis II the Stammerer on 19 July 878, comes as a welcome surprise. Both are preserved in a late-fifteenth-century copy, based on an earlier copy from the thirteenth century. With the exception of a clause added after the corroboration in the second diploma, which could be at least partly interpolated, their authenticity appears to be beyondCélèbre par ses peintures murales, l’abbaye de Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe n’a conservé que de pauvres archives anciennes.
