Allelopathy is a naturally occurring ecological phenomenon in which the livingorganisms produce and release the biochemicals (allelochemicals) in the environmentthat affect the growth, development, reproduction, and survival of otherliving organisms in the surrounding environment. For field crops, the phenomenonof allelopathy can be exploited in the form of intercropping, use ofcover crops, mulching, crop rotations, and use of plant water extracts alone orin combination with reduced doses of herbicides to provide effective controlof the agricultural pests and diseases. For the control of insect pests (field andstorage insect pests), the use of allelopathic plant water extracts and the powderof allelopathic plants may be quite useful. The allelochemicals affect thegrowth of unwanted plants (e.g., weeds) through changes in the cell structure, inhibition of cell elongation/division, disruption of membrane structures, anddisruption of water and nutrient uptake and the process of photosynthesis. Thephenomenon of allelopathy is eco-friendly, and it may help significantly reducethe usage of pesticides. Thus, the phenomenon of allelopathy provides an attractiveecological alternative to pesticides for controlling the pests and diseases ofthe agricultural crops. In this chapter, we have discussed the mechanismof allelochemicals for growth inhibition in plants and the role of crop rotation, allelopathic mulches, allelopathic cover crops, intercrops, and allelopathic waterextracts (alone or with reduced doses of herbicides) in weed management. Therole of allopathic water extracts and allelopathic powders for managing the insectpests and diseases has also been described

The automobile industry is adopting various processes, including innovation and dynamic capabilities, to foster economic growth and survival without negatively affecting the environment. This study investigates the indirect role of green innovation and environmental performance in the relationships of corporate social responsibility and dynamic capabilities with business competitiveness. Additionally, this research explores government support as a boundary condition in strengthening (or vice versa) the impact of dynamic capabilities and corporate social responsibility on green innovation. We used a self-administered survey questionnaire to collect data from 344 respondents in Pakistan's automobile industry. The structural equation modeling results revealed that green innovation and environmental performance act as mediators and government support strengthens dynamic capabilities and corporate social responsibility connection with green innovation. The theoretical and practical implications for practicing managers are thoroughly discussed

“A healthy outside starts from the inside”: A matter of sustainable consumption behavior in Italy and Pakistan

The aim of this research is to determine people's motives when purchasing organic food and how these motives are moderated by price sensitivity and ethical concerns in a cross-cultural setting. A highly structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from 673 Italian and 594 Pakistani consumers, using the convenience sampling technique. Based on the etic research approach, the measurement invariance tests were performed, and data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that environmental concerns and health-consciousness are significant predictors of subjective norms and purchase attitudes among Italian consumers. Food safety concern proved the strongest predictor of purchase attitude and perceived behavioral control among Pakistani consumers. The results also confirm the moderating role of ethical concerns and price sensitivity in buying organic food in both cultures. In terms of originality, this study fills significant gaps in the literature, particularly regarding the roles of attitude, behavioral control, and subjective norms in consumer buying motives and purchasing intentions in cross-cultural studies but more importantly, the results validate that consumer concerns across the globe are related to the Sustainability Development Goals and the U.N. 2030 agenda, which aptly provides a blue print for the development and developmental goals and concerns across nations

This paper study the relationship between social protection expenditures, poverty, income inequality and economic growth in a marginalized country like Pakistan by using annual data available from 1983 to 2015. Three econometric time series models have been developed; the first model explored the impact of social protection expenditures on poverty; second model investigated the impact of social protection expenditures on income inequality and a third model shows the impact of poverty, income inequality and social protection expenditures on economic growth. Results of cointegration techniques suggested to increase social protection expenditures reduces poverty and inequality in case of Pakistan. Furthermore, increase the expenditures on social protection programs have positive impact on economy and boost economic growth

Including material and photographs not included in most of the 100 other books about the champion, Ishmael Reed's The Complete Muhammad Ali is more than just a biography-it is a fascinating portrait of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. An honest, balanced portrayal of Ali, the book includes voices that have been omitted from other books. It charts Ali's evolution from Black Nationalism to a universalism, but does not discount the Nation of Islam and Black Nationalism's important influence on his intellectual development. Filipino American author Emil Guillermo speaks about how "The Thrilla' In Manila" brought the Philippines into the 20th century. Fans of Muhammad Ali, boxing fans, and those interested in modern African American history and the Nation of Islam will be fascinated by this biography by an accomplished American author.Intro -- DEDICATION -- INTRODUCTION -- The Curious History of an Icon -- CHAPTER 1 -- CHAPTER 2 -- CHAPTER 3 -- CHAPTER 4 -- CHAPTER 5 -- CHAPTER 6 -- CHAPTER 7 -- Did the Secret Government Fear a U.S. Muslim/Overseas Muslim Alliance? -- CHAPTER 8 -- CHAPTER 9 -- The Break Between the Prophet and his Disciple -- CHAPTER 10 -- CHAPTER 11 -- CHAPTER 12 -- The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time): Ali or Louis? -- CHAPTER 13 -- The Nation of Islam, the Mob, Showdowns in Canada and Sonny Liston -- CHAPTER 14 -- CHAPTER 15 -- The Taunts: Marketing or Racism? -- CHAPTER 16 -- CHAPTER 17 -- CHAPTER 18 -- CHAPTER 19 -- Boxing and the Brain -- CHAPTER 20 -- Ali's Feet -- CHAPTER 21 -- Mr. Dick -- CHAPTER 22 -- CHAPTER 23 -- The Opening Ceremonies, November 2005 -- CHAPTER 24 -- December 2005, Las Vegas -- CHAPTER 25 -- CHAPTER 26 -- June 16, 2004 -- CHAPTER 27 -- CHAPTER 28 -- CHAPTER 29 -- Aix-en-Provence -- CHAPTER 30 -- Ali as a Black Nationalist -- San Francisco, January 2004 Black Liberation Book Fair -- CHAPTER 31 -- January 31, 2004 -- CHAPTER 32 -- October 2005, Chicago -- CHAPTER 33 -- Why Ali remained with Elijah instead of following Malcolm -- CHAPTER 34 -- CHAPTER 35 -- February 4, 2006, Oakland, California -- CHAPTER 36 -- Like Zeus Descending from Mount Olympus -- CHAPTER 37 -- CHAPTER 38 -- Tuesday, February 28, 2006, New York -- CHAPTER 39 -- Bigger Than Boxing -- CHAPTER 40 -- Tribes Gallery, New York, April 2006 -- CHAPTER 41 -- June 2006, Louisville, Kentucky -- CHAPTER 42 -- CHAPTER 43 -- CHAPTER 45 -- Bad Company -- CHAPTER 46 -- Coxson, A Very Charming Rogue -- CHAPTER 47 -- Ali and the largest embezzlement scheme in Wells Fargo history -- CHAPTER 48 -- CHAPTER 49 -- "Lonnie is a stabilizing force."-Harry Belafonte -- October 29, 2006 -- CHAPTER 50 -- Abdul Rahman -- CHAPTER 51 -- CHAPTER 52 -- CHAPTER 53How Will Ali Be Remembered?
