    No full text
The Cippus of the Forum is reviewed in a new light thanks to the results of laser scanning commissioned by the Soprintendenza di Roma. A synergistic approach to the inscription, with the use of autopsies of the original and reproductions and digital image analysis, has made it possible to discard some old hypotheses and suggest new heuristic paths. An Appendix on Latin inscriptions from the seventh and sixth centuries BCE completes the work

The Lapis satricanus as evidence of an italic writing context in the Latium vetus?

Sabine traditions in the Lapis Satricanus? We will propose a possible cultural “sabine” individualization of the Lapis Satricanus, that expresses itself on a level of language and handwriting. The Latin alphabet actually gives evidence of some peculiarities that recall possible extra-Latin parallels. But the “cultural” contents (including obviously the linguistic features) are even more meaningful: these seem to show a coexistence of traditions in Rome of “not Roman type”

The digital edition of the archaic latin inscriptions (7th-5th century B.C.)

    No full text
The ILA project consist in the digital edition of the archaic Latin inscriptions (7th -5th century B.C.) according to the EpiDoc guidelines. The edition is the result of an autoptical examination of the epigraphic documents and of the text-bearing objects, together with the analysis of previuos studies. In the particular case of the Forum inscription, this led to new discoveries and confirmed old hypotheses. Each text will be presented in an epigraphic chart, enriched by photos and illustrations

However, high-temperature water-vapor-rich combustion gases can induce severe surface recession phenomena in SiC/SiC leading to component failure. For this reason, it is necessary to design protective coatings, i.e., environmental barrier coatings (EBCs), able to protect the SiC/SiC surface in combustion environments. In the present work, ytterbium monosilicate (Yb2SiO5), stable when exposed to water vapor at high temperatures, and ytterbium disilicate (Yb2Si2O7), characterized by a thermal expansion coefficient closer to that of the substrate, were selected for a multilayer EBC system. EBCs were processed using the atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique. A set of deposition parameters were tested, varying the power of the torch, and the composition and microstructure of the deposited coatings were studied in terms of porosity, crack density, and post-deposition phase retention by performing SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis. The results allow for the definition of the influence of deposition parameters on the final properties of multilayer EBC coatings
