Reviving CerCAST: Digital Curation of the Ceramics Route of Castelli from Historical Archives Content to Meta Space
Ceramic craftsmanship represents a crucial role in the structure of European cultural and economic history. The use of traditional craftsmanship has played a crucial role in developing strong economic systems, which have consequently contributed to the growth of cultural and social assets in surrounding communities. Castelli is notable as a key component in the history of Italian maiolica, an artistic craftsmanship known for its delicate decorations and artistic significance, especially during the period from the 16th to the 18th century. The Ceramics Route of Castelli (CerCAST) initiative is specifically focused on safeguarding and promoting this great ceramic legacy. It offers a carefully chosen route to discover the historical charm of the city while providing an in-depth examination of the enduring Maiolica traditions and techniques. Accordingly, I am looking into the possibility of building a digital platform that will recognize and maintain this important historical legacy. The PhD project seeks to explore the process of digital curation, which involves archiving material content on
the Europeana platform. The content materials are related to the Ceramics Route of Castelli, and they have also been transformed into a virtual exhibition. As the virtual exhibition is developed, it will function as a platform for storytelling exhibitions, intertwining narratives from the historical legacy of ceramics, specifically focusing on Castelli ceramics production during the 16th to 18th centuries. By offering various forms of engagement with heritage material, it presents a unique opportunity to provide individuals with innovative and alternative ways to interact with cultural heritage assets. This not only promotes the extension of knowledge but also aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of heritage through digital applications
Digital presence and omnichannel approach for the promotion of the artistic and historical itineraries of Castelli ceramics.
The artistic tradition of ceramic handicrafts characterizes the local culture and economy of
a relevant part of European history, contributing to the reproduction and development of
highly competent production systems, which reflect themselves into a cultural and social
capital of great importance for local communities, such as that of Castelli, a centre that
plays a key role in the history of Italian maiolica production and is also regarded as one the highest
cultural and its ornament varieties that have distinctive aesthetic value especially in the
period from the 16th to the 18th century.
Intrigued by the idea of developing a digital channel for the heritage archive, through this
PhD project: the open-source digital approach to developing omnichannel experience in
small-medium management is conducted with a focus on Castelli Archive. The heritage
archive can take a digital form, ranging from clearly defined spaces at the virtual exhibition
or independent website to joint collaborations, including third-party portals such as Google
Art Culture. By providing different types of interaction with heritage material, it can be
intended as an exceptional opportunity to offer innovative and alternative approaches to
individuals to interact with cultural heritage assets, which can accomplish not only
entertaining but also hoped that digital applications promote an understanding of heritage,
as well as encouraging users to value and appreciate the heritage
Museopolis.EU: Virtual Museum and Exhibition for Promoting the Traditional Polish's Artistic Pottery of Boleslawiec
The paper presents the project of Museopolis.EU, a web-based virtual museum that showcases the most intriguing and significant archive from the Polish-Czech borderland.
The institutions digitized and cataloged a selection of exhibits from their and other museums' collections. Both traditional photographs and 360-degree visualizations of the exhibition's images are used to present essential information about the objects on display. On the portal,
One may find both the artifacts displayed in permanent exhibitions as well as the rarest and most precious pieces held in the museum's storerooms. Different forms of engagement with the archive are made possible through this platform. It might be viewed as a unique opportunity to provide audiences with creative and different ways to engage with cultural heritage assets. The objective of the virtual exhibition is to engage viewers to value and
appreciate the heritage in addition to providing amusement and boosting heritage understanding
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Digital Dynamics: Ceramics Route of Castelli (CerCAST)
The tradition of ceramic craftsmanship serves as a defining characteristic of the cultural and economic landscape in a substantial portion of European history. This tradition has facilitated the reproduction and evolution of highly efficient production systems, which have subsequently manifested as cultural and social capital of considerable importance to local communities, such as Castelli. Castelli is acknowledged as a pivotal center in the history of Italian maiolica production, celebrated for its exceptional cultural contributions and ornamental varieties that possess distinctive aesthetic value, particularly from the 16th to the 18th centuries. This research explores the development of digital practices to address the promotion and preservation requirements of Castelli ceramics, which is a significant yet vulnerable element of cultural heritage. The project analyzes the challenges and opportunities associated with employing digital strategies to advance and support the preservation of Castelli ceramics' cultural heritage in the digital age
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
