Programa de Pós-Graduação em História.Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o programa de Clubes 4-S, implantado pela ACARESC (Associação de Crédito e Extensão Rural de Santa Catarina), órgão responsável pela implantação e desenvolvimento da Extensão Rural no estado a partir de 1957, e sua preocupação com a constituição de um novo jovem rural em Santa Catarina. Procurando evitar o êxodo rural e romper, através da tecnologia, com as técnicas de produção tradicionais, uma série de discursos foi propagada pela ACARESC objetivando intervir na formação de um novo (e jovem) agricultor. Através dos Clubes 4-S, entre outros programas da Extensão Rural, procurou-se formar sujeitos que estivessem aptos para lidar com estas técnicas e tecnologias "modernas" implantadas pela Extensão Rural. Estes clubes de trabalho foram implantados pela ACARESC a partir de 1957 em Santa Catarina, e no início da década de 1970 ganham ênfase no oeste catarinense. Naquele momento, os olhares da Extensão Rural concentraram-se nesta região, procurando legitimá-la enquanto lugar da "agricultura moderna" no estado, enquanto o "Celeiro Catarinense". Assim, delimito o objeto a partir da efetivação de ações governamentais que resultariam na implantação dos Clubes 4-S em Chapecó (1970) e o processo de repensar sobre os trabalhos com juventude rural (1985)
