No full textIn an era in which cloud computing is redefining business paradigms, understanding the interplay between organizational culture and technology adoption becomes paramount. Conducted across various European countries from May to July 2023, this study, with a final dataset of 145 responses, ventures beyond traditional technology acceptance models. By integrating Hofstede's cultural dimensions with the perceived usefulness construct from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), we explore their collective impact on cloud service utilization in the workplace. Employing a robust survey methodology and ordinal logistic regression analysis, this research reveals nuanced insights into how individualism and uncertainty avoidance influence cloud adoption, with perceived usefulness acting as a pivotal moderator. The findings not only extend the theoretical discourse on technology acceptance by highlighting the intricate role of cultural factors but also offer practical guidance for crafting IT strategies that align with individual cultural values. Contributing to the scholarly conversation on digital transformation within organizational contexts, this paper provides a comprehensive understanding of the factors driving cloud service utilization among employees. Its implications resonate across the academic and practical realms, underscoring the significance of cultural awareness in the successful implementation of cloud technologies

Fashion merchandisers’ slash and burn dilemma: A consequence of over production and excessive waste?
No full textLuxury merchandisers are burning unsold merchandise valued over $600 million each year. Destroying clothing is a common practice amongst fashion merchandisers in order to keep the price of goods high and the availability of products low. We examine the improper disposal of deadstock when luxury and fast-fashion marketers slash and burn their unsold goods. First, we describe what fashion merchandisers are doing and why they are destroying goods. Second, we provide brief case studies of fashion firms. Third, we present a conceptualization of social irresponsibility and responsibility. Finally, we offer a set of recommendations for managers to i) better respond to stakeholder demands, ii) enhance forecasting through technology, iii) implement a circular economy model, and iv) improve reporting practices
From one to many: education, diversity, and international experience in habitual vs. one-time founders
Get PDFWhat sets apart entrepreneurs who continuously start new businesses from those who stick with their first venture? This paper delves into the characteristics that distinguish habitual founders from one-time founders. Analyzing a dataset of over 5000 individuals, we combine the concepts of cognitive entrenchment and human capital theory to uncover the general and specific traits that increase the likelihood of becoming a habitual founder. Our findings suggest that a higher level of education, diverse professional backgrounds, and international experience increase the chances of becoming a habitual founder. By exploring the backgrounds of habitual entrepreneurs, this study provides valuable insights for supporting and promoting an entrepreneurial career.What factors influence entrepreneurs to venture into multiple businesses, while some remain dedicated to a single enterprise? Our study, based on a sample of over 5000 entrepreneurs, reveals that those who repeatedly start new ventures-habitual founders-often have higher education levels, more diverse professional experiences, and greater international exposure than those who stick to a single enterprise-one-time founders. These diverse experiences help habitual entrepreneurs identify new opportunities and navigate the complexities of starting multiple businesses. Promoting educational diversity, varied career experiences, and international exposure can thus support the growth of habitual entrepreneurship. This has important implications for both research and practice, suggesting that fostering a broad-based education and encouraging diverse professional experiences can be key strategies in nurturing habitual entrepreneurs and understanding the factors that drive them
Founding entrepreneur's dilemma: Stay or exit the firm following an acquisition? An international comparison
No full textMany differences exist between founders that decide to maintain ownership of their firm and those that surrender ownership. Few studies have addressed what founders decide to do once their firm has been acquired, and even fewer have looked at this phenomenon from an international point of view. By utilizing Prospect Theory, we address this research question through a database of 6,271 founding entrepreneurs from North America, Europe, and Asia. We compare and contrast founders who choose to remain within the company with those that exit and move on to a different activity after their enterprise has been acquired. Our empirical analysis suggests that founders’ tenure, entrepreneurial experience, education level, international experience, and their world region of residence, together with the firm's stock exchange listing, act as significant antecedents of the founding entrepreneur's choice to exit the firm after acquisition
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Treatment of distal clavicle nonunion with and without bone grafting
No full textThe management of distal clavicle nonunion represents a challenging task for orthopaedic trauma surgeon. Both the choice of the implant and whether a bone graft is needed are controversial points which must be addressed. Particularly, in the case of a hypertrophic nonunion, grafting may not necessarily be needed, but given a poor underlying biological environment, a bone graft becomes necessary in order to enhance fracture healing. We report the case of a 62-year-old patient who came to us with a hypertrophic nonunion of the left distal clavicle. She was initially treated with a hook plate without bone grafting. After an early peri-implant fracture she was treated again with anatomical S-shaped locking plate associated with autologous cancellous bone graft
