Sublittoral and bathyal sea cucumbers (Echinodermata: Holothuroidea) from the Northern Mozambique Channel with description of six new species

    No full text
The 2009 expedition with the research vessel Miriky sampled the sublittoral and bathyal waters of the northern Mozambique Channel. This exploration campaign resulted in a small, but very diverse collection of holothuroids comprising 174 specimens representing 31 species, 18 genera, 10 families and 5 orders. Of these species, many were hitherto unknown for Madagascar or even for the Indian Ocean, and six, Bathyplotes aymeric sp. nov., Holothuria (Cystipus) yann sp. nov., Holothuria (Stauropora) bo sp. nov., Holothuria (Metriatyla) alex sp. nov., Holothuria (Theelothuria) cyrielle sp.nov., Molpadia thandari sp. nov., are new to science. Molpadia lenticulum (Cherbonnier & Féral, 1981) is a new combination. This contribution provides an illustrated and annotated overview of the poorly known, highly biodiverse, sublittoral and bathyal sea cucumber fauna of the northern Mozambique Channel. Our findings demonstrate how ignorant we are about the poorly explored habitats of our planet and therefore stress the urgent need for more explorations to such regions

The following essay focuses on Marcial Di Fonzo Bo’s staging entitled "Copi" (2017-2018), presented at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes and conceived as a posthumous tribute to the author mentioned in the title. The texts that composed it (two complete works, "Eva Perón" and "El homosexual o la dificultad de expresarse", together with other fragments of Copi’s varied creations as writer, perfomer and strip cartoonist) are studied here in order to reflect on this theatrical unit on the basis of a reading of images supported by conceptualizations of Georges Didi-Huberman. The article explores Copi’s links with the Creole archive, with the history of drag performances in the country, with the questioning of fixed identities and, also, with the history of Eva Perón, a textuality which was prohibited for many years in Argentina.

Impacts of 5d electron binding energy and electron-phonon coupling on luminescence of Ce 3+ in Li 6 Y(BO 3 ) 3

In this work, the crystal structure and electronic structure as well as the synchrotron radiation vacuum ultraviolet-ultraviolet-visible (VUV-UV-vis) luminescence properties of Li 6 Y(BO 3 ) 3 (LYBO):Ce 3+ phosphors were investigated in detail. The Rietveld refinement and DFT calculation reveal the P2 1 /c monoclinic crystal phase and the direct band gap of the LYBO compound, respectively. Only one kind of Ce 3+ 4f-5d transition is resolved in terms of the low temperature VUV-UV excitation, UV-vis emission spectra and luminescence decay curves. Furthermore, by constructing the vacuum referred binding energy (VRBE) scheme and applying the frequency-degenerate vibrational model, the impacts of 5d electron binding energy and electron-phonon coupling on luminescence of Ce 3+ in LYBO are analysed. The results show that the Ce 3+ emission in LYBO possesses a moderate intrinsic thermal stability. With the increase in concentration, the thermal stability of the emission gets worse due to the possible thermally-activated concentration quenching. In addition, the simulation of Ce 3+ emission profile at low temperature reveals that the 4f-5d electronic transitions of Ce 3+ ions can be treated to couple with one frequency-degenerate vibrational mode having the effective phonon energy of ∼257 cm −1 with the corresponding Huang-Rhys parameter of ∼6, which indicates a strong electron-phonon interaction of Ce 3+ luminescence in the Li 6 Y(BO 3 ) 3 host. Finally, the X-ray excited luminescence spectrum of the LYBO:5%Ce 3+ phosphor is measured to check the potential scintillator applications. RST/Luminescence Material

[EN] Historically, there has been a separation between public and private and, according to the anthropologist Teresa del Valle, 'by limiting spaces, most women are almost exclusively destined for domestic use', losing the ability to socialize and to participate in decision making, since these, in general, occur in the public space. Adolescent development of multiscale structural wiring and functional interactions in the human connectome

    No full text
Copyright © 2022 the Author(s).Adolescence is a time of profound changes in the physical wiring and function of the brain. Here, we analyzed structural and functional brain network development in an accelerated longitudinal cohort spanning 14 to 25 y (n = 199). Core to our work was an advanced in vivo model of cortical wiring incorporating MRI features of corticocortical proximity, microstructural similarity, and white matter tractography. Longitudinal analyses assessing age-related changes in cortical wiring identified a continued differentiation of multiple corticocortical structural networks in youth. We then assessed structure–function coupling using resting-state functional MRI measures in the same participants both via cross-sectional analysis at baseline and by studying longitudinal change between baseline and follow-up scans. At baseline, regions with more similar structural wiring were more likely to be functionally coupled. Moreover, correlating longitudinal structural wiring changes with longitudinal functional connectivity reconfigurations, we found that increased structural differentiation, particularly between sensory/unimodal and default mode networks, was reflected by reduced functional interactions. These findings provide insights into adolescent development of human brain structure and function, illustrating how structural wiring interacts with the maturation of macroscale functional hierarchies.11Nsciescopu

Función de los diarios en El zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo, de José María Arguedas

    No full text
This paper suggests that José María Arguedas (1911-1969) in El zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo, interweaves diary writing, which includes reflections on the socio-political condition, on the situation of Latin-American writers, and about his own state, in order to provide self-justification with respect to his negative reception. This deconstruction of his old self in the diaries provides space to accumulate strength and "audacity" for the story; and by eliminating himself as the author, he gives voice to the mythical indigenous foxes.
