The study of association between the market risk and the capital structure in the Finnish corporate sector
The main purpose of this research is to examine the dynamics of risk and financial leverage in the Finnish stock market. The researcher was interested in this topic because it was interesting, contemporary and often underestimated by managers. Market risk and capital structure are deeply connected. The author was fascinated by the theme because the market risk can impact capital structure and capital structure in turn makes an impact on the market risk. If the capital structure is too much biased in favor of debt, the debt to equity ratio is very high, there can be more market risk. The company becomes riskier because the managers have to return more cash to debtholders. The key theoretical underpinning to use is the Capital Asset Pricing Model. The author was interested to test the theory on modern data represented by 50 Finnish companies’ stocks listed on the stock exchange. The research horizon was from 2012 to 2018. Secondary numerical data was examined. The research data was collected from annual reports of the companies and NASDAQ. The researcher wanted to explore, what factors influence market risk, capital structure, and their interconnection. To formulate research questions the author has thoroughly read the classical and modern theory of finance and also the latest research in this area. The author analyzed data with the help of statistics and statistical tool SPSS. Further she analyzed results and made conclusions based on knowledge received during research and also her study at JAMK. Based on the literature review the researcher chose independent and dependent variables. With the help of these variables, the researcher created the models to test hypotheses. The author analyzed descriptive statistics output, applied correlational and regression analysis to find answers to the research questions, and tested hypotheses. The researcher found out, that there was no interconnection between leverage and systematic risk, leverage, and earnings volatility, that firm-level performance variable did not affect systematic risk, independence of the board did not affect the capital structure and systematic risk
Soobščenie o mirnom dogovore so Šveciej v carskich gramotach Petra I (1721) i Elizavety I (1743) i tradicija diplomatičeskoj perepiski s venecianskim adresatom
Information on the Peace Treaty with Sweden in the Letters of Emperor Peter the Great (1721) and Empress Elizabeth I of Russia (1743) and traditions of the diplomatic correspondence with the Venetian addressee
The report addresses diplomatic letters of Peter the Great (September 14, 1721) and his daughter, Empress Elizabeth, (September 10, 1743) to the Doge of Venice informing on the recently concluded Peace Treaties with Sweden (the Treaty of Nystad (the first letter) and the Treaty of Abo (the second letter)). Both letters are discussed in the context of diplomatic, military and epistolary relations between Russia and Venice in the second half of the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. The author analyses the structure of the letters’ speech composition of its formulas in order to detect evolution, which is typical for the diplomatic language and epistolary etiquette of the Tzar’s letters at the times of Peter the Great and his successors
Structural and dynamic basis for the cAMP-mediated allosteric control of the catabolite activator protein (CAP):
The E.coli catabolite activator protein (CAP) is a universal transcriptional activator that regulates more than half of the cell’s transcription units by responding to fluctuations of the cellular concentration of cAMP. Cyclic 3’-5’-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) binding to CAP elicits an allosteric transition that switches CAP from the “off” state, which binds DNA weakly and nonspecifically, to the “on” state that binds DNA strongly and specifically. In the cAMP-bound state CAP binds to DNA sites located at or close to promoter sites and enhances RNA polymerase binding to the promoter by a simple recruitment mechanism thereby activating transcription.
The solution structure of CAP in the absence of cAMP (apo-CAP) was determined by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Multidimensional heteronuclear NMR experiments in combination with a series of specifically labeled samples were used to accomplish structure determination.
The structure of the 50-kDa apo-CAP provides atomic details of the allosteric transition that leads to activation of CAP for DNA binding. cAMP elicits a coil-to-helix transition that stabilizes a suboptimal coiled coil, which is extensively unwound in apo-CAP. Coiled-coil winding causes the DNA-binding domain to undergo a large rigid-body translation and rotation that poise the recognition helices for specific DNA binding. The results highlight the unique structural mechanisms that underlie activation of this prototypic transcription factor and provide an example of how effector-mediated structural changes can control the activity of regulatory proteins. In addition, we have also characterized a number of CAP* mutants in order to further understand the mechanism underlying the activation of CAP.
NMR spectroscopy in combination with isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) was used to delineate the structural and dynamic features of distinct conformational states in cAMP binding to CAP. The intrinsically cooperative binding of cAMP to CAP was characterized using the isolated effector binding domain CAPN (residues 1-138) in three conformational states: in the absence of cAMP (apo-CAPN), in singly liganded state (intermediate, cAMP1-CAPN), and in the doubly liganded state (cAMP2-CAPN). We have shown that allosteric interactions can be mediated exclusively by transmitted changes in protein motions. Thus, the observed protein allostery is exclusively dynamically driven.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical references (p. 147-163)by Nataliya Popovyc

Model systems with the use of CeO2 for bioapplication
Title: Model systems with the use of CeO2 for bioapplication Author: Sofiia Bercha Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor: Ing. Nataliya Tsud Ph.D., Department of Surface and Plasma Science Abstract: This thesis is focused on the investigation of model systems for bioapplications. Interfaces between biomolecules and inorganic materials were studied by means of advanced surface science techniques with emphasis on the molecular electronic structure and bonding geometry as a function of material morphology and/or molecular deposition method. For the histidine/cerium oxide system it is demonstrated that the morphology of the oxide determines the mechanism of the molecular adsorption. The presence of an aqueous medium does not alter the histidine interaction with the nanostructured cerium oxide. For the adenine/cerium oxide system we have shown that the adenine molecule chemisorbs on CeO2 intact via nitrogen atoms, independent of the oxide morphology and deposition technique. The adenine molecule was found to decompose on a reduced surface of the cerium oxide. Combining experimental and theoretical methods two distinct phases of adenine on CeO2 were found. Abstract
Background. The dramatic events of the Russian-Ukrainian war around the Chornobyl’ nuclear power plant (NPP) once again opened up the healed wound inflicted by radionuclides on the human body not only in Ukraine, but also in Belarus and the border regions of Russia. The drama of the situation was further intensified by the events surrounding the Zaporizhzhia NPP. This prompted us to turn to the archive of the Truskavetsian Scientific School of Balneology and process the results of research that, due to certain technical and ethical circumstances, remained unanalyzed. Material and methods. The cohort of observation in 1997 were 19 men and 3 women who were exposed to pathogenic factors of the accident at the Chоrnobylian nuclear power plant during the liquidation of its consequences in 1986. The subject of the study was EEG and HRV parameters. The survey was conducted twice - on admission and after two weeks of rehabilitation at the Truskavets’ Spa. Results. Screening of the registered parameters revealed a pronounced sympathotonic shift of the autonomic balance, as well as a statistically significant deviation from the norm of 18 EEG parameters (increase in 8 and decrease in 10). Under the influence of two-week balneotherapy, 5 increased and 5 decreased EEG parameters normalized, but the remaining abnormal EEG and HRV parameters were resistant to the influence of balneofactors. Conclusion. Neurophysiological disorders, detected even 11 years after the effects of the factors of the Chornobyl’ disaster, differ both in severity and sensitivity to the sanogenic effect of the adaptogenic factors of the Truskavets’ Spa.

Abstract
Background. Earlier we studied the neural and endocrine accompaniments of quantitative-qualitative blood pressure (BP) clusters of profile patients of Truskavets’ spa. The purpose of this study is to clarify the metabolic accompaniment in the same contingent. Materials and methods. Under an observations were 44 patients with chronic pyelonephritis and cholecystitis in the phase of remission. Testing was performed twice - on admission and after 7-10 days of standard balneotherapy. The main object of the study was BP (tonometer “Omron M4-I”, Netherlands). The plasma levels of lipids, glucose, nitrogenous metabolites and electrolytes as well as urinary excretion of last two were determined. In addition, electrokinetics and cholecystokinetics indexes were determined. Results. The forward stepwise program identified 21 parameters as characteristic of quantitative-qualitative blood pressure clusters. In addition to BP parameters by default, the most informative among them are sodium and uric acid daily excretion as well as plasma phosphate and magnesium, whose levels are maximal in patients with hypertension, while minimal in patients with low norm BP, on the one hand, and electrokinetics index, the level of which are polar, on the other hand. The accuracy of patient classification is 97,7%. Conclusion. The quantitative-qualitative blood pressure clusters have a characteristic metabolic accompaniment.
