Full text linkAlhamdulillah, the fourth edition of ebook under SIG of e-Learning@CS has been successfully published. Representing the editorial board, I want to express my appreciation to all authors for their participation in this e-book edition. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Madam Norazah Umar, the Program Coordinator for the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (JSKM) who has given words of encouragement in making this publication a reality. Starting from 2022, the committee of SIG e-Learning@CS has decided to publish this eBook twice a year. This e-book will be published in April and October each year following the evaluation period of MyATP 2.0 system. The fourth edition of the e-book focuses on innovation in teaching. The authors are encouraged to share experiences and ideas that have been applied and implemented since the Open Distance Learning (ODL) approach was introduced during Movement Controls Orders (MCO). A total of 16 papers have been submitted by JSKM lecturers and varieties of teaching innovations have been elaborated and well explained by the author

Comparison of Tooth Size Discrepancy of Three Main Ethnics in Malaysia with Bolton's Ratio
Full text linkThe objective of this study was to investigate the applicability of Bolton's ratios in orthodontic population of Malaysian main ethnics; Malay, Chinese and Indians. Ninety convenient samples consisting of 30 pre-orthodontic study casts from each ethnic that fits the inclusion criteria were selected. The greatest mesiodistal widths of each tooth from six to six for overall ratio and three to three for anterior ratio were measured using a digital callipers linked to Hamilton Arch Tooth System software to the nearest 0.01mm. Means of the ratios were calculated using Bolton analysis. One sample t-test statistic analysis was carried out to compare the means with Bolton values of anterior ratio and overall ratio and one-way ANOVA was used to analyze comparison between ethnic groups of the anterior ratio and the overall ratio with the level of statistical significance set at p < 0.05. However, there were no significant differences when comparing Bolton values with Chinese and Indian anterior and overall ratios. The Bolton standards could be applied to Malaysian Chinese, Indians and Malay's female. Ao início, acrescentamos uma breve apresentação da autora e do conto, além de comentários sobre decisões tradutórias referentes a características que criam a atmosfera de suspense e estranhamento.This article consists of a translation, from Arabic to Portuguese, of the short story Naḍra lahā ’aṣābi‘ (“The fingers of the gaze”) by Kuwaiti author Leila Othman. At the beginning, a brief presentation of both the author and the short story was added, as well as comments on translational decisions regarding characteristics which create the atmosphere of suspense and strangeness

No full textRetinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a major cause of childhood blindness in developing countries. As childhood and neonatal mortality in Egypt has shown tremendous improvement over the past two decades, it is expected to encounter an increasing number of cases of blindness from ROP in surviving infants unless strict guidelines and cooperation between different involved departments are explicitly set. In this review article, the author highlights the studies conducted and published risk factors, recommends protocols for early diagnosis, and describes management strategies to lessen or prevent blindness related to ROP

No full textBryobia alveolata sp. nov. Auger & Flechtmann (Figures 1–13) Type-specimens. Holotype (female), 4 female paratypes on 5 microscopic preparations from Atriplex sp., (Chenopodiaceae), M'Rha Lahouara, Gouvernorat de Tozeur, Tunisia, 05/06/ 2005, coll. P. Auger. Holotype and 3 female paratypes deposited in the collection of the Centre de Biologie et de Gestion des Populations (CBGP), 34988 Montferrier-sur-Lez, France. One female paratype deposited in the type collection of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN). Diagnosis. This species is distinctive from other members of the genus by the presence on its opisthosoma of seven more or less large oval-shaped depressions or dimples with rounded reticulations. Description. Female : Holotype 654 µm long (excluding gnathosoma) gnathosoma 196 µm long (measured to the tip of palps), width 396 µm. Four paratypes measured, 552–622 µm long, gnathosoma 185– 208 µm long, width 370–390 µm. Dorsum – Prodorsum with four pairs of setae and with quite well developed lobes. Outer propodosomal lobes less developed than inner lobes and more or less triangular with broad bases. Incision between the outer and anteromedian lobes wide and not deep; incision between median lobes also relatively shallow. A horizontal line joining tip of v 2 setae crosses the bases of v 1 setae. Dorsal body setae palmate, serrate and subequal in length (length of holotype and variations of four paratypes): v 1 24 (22–24); v 2 27 (26–28); sc 1 26 (25– 26); sc 2 23 (20–23); c 1 27 (21–24); c 2 25 (23–24); c 3 23 (23–26); d 1 26 (22–26); d 2 23 (22–26); d 3 22 (19–23); e 1 26 (22–25); e 2 23 (22–25); e 3 21 (21–22); f 1 23 (23–27); f 2 23 (21–23); h 1 21 (21–23). Distance between bases of d 1 and e 1 about two-thirds that between c 1 and d 1. Propodosoma covered with rough elongate reticulate elements medially and more or less rounded elements laterally. Opisthosoma bears folds with a pattern mostly transverse and arched posteriorly to d 1 setae. Seven large oval-shaped dimple-like depressions with rounded reticulations present. With 12 pairs of setae. Gnathosoma – Stylophore rounded, longer than wide. Tibial claw of palpus bidentate. Palptarsus elongate and bears seven setae and a solenidion. Peritreme anastomosed distally in a relatively long and slender enlargement. Venter – Area immediately anterior to genital flap irregularly longitudinal. Sacculus of spermatheca circular. Three anal and two para-anal setae are present. Legs – Length inferior to body length, leg I 553 (486–520) µm long (length of holotype and variations of two paratypes). Leg chaetotaxy as follows: I 2 − 1 −14 − 6 − 13 + (1) − 18 + (6) [(5)] + 2 duplexes; II 1 − 1 − 9 − 5 − 9 − 13 + (4) + 1 duplex; III 1 − 1 − 7 − 6 − 9 − 13 + 1 duplex; IV 1 − 1 − 4 − 7 − 9 − 14 + (1). Tarsus III associated setae serrate and approximate with solenidion, about equal in size; tarsus IV with solenidion well-separated from tactile, proximal, and about half length of tactile seta. True claws uncinate, with one pair of tenent hairs (leg I) or two pairs of tenent hairs (legs II, III, IV). Empodial pads each bears two rows of tenent hairs and almost as long as claws. Male: Unknown FIGURES 1, 2. Bryobia alveolata sp. nov., female. 1, dorsal aspect; 2, dorsal sc 1 seta. Etymology. Full text linkThe Malaysian agricultural sector has been given a weighty emphasis mainly due to its prominent role in maintaining the local food supplies, subsequently guaranteeing the nation's sovereignty. Furthermore, food crops such as rice, vegetables, and fruits are fundamental necessities in daily life, along with fishing and livestock sources as well as industrial crops for export. Samah and Othman (2015) highlighted that the local agricultural sector has undergone significant transformation in recent years. Notably, the sector has shifted from being dominated by smallscale farmers to being dominated by large-scale agribusinesses; a trend that is expected to continue in the future. This transformation is driven by various factors, including the expansion of the palm oil industry, the development of modern technology, and the implementation of government policies to further promote the sector
