Learning from documenta 14: The transmission of informal know-how in central European artistic production across the public sector, the private sector, and the commons in Athens
No full textΗ παρούσα εργασία μελετά την περίπτωση της documenta 14 στην Αθήνα (2017) εστιάζοντας στη διαμόρφωση και διακίνηση του άτυπου εργασιακού know-how που αναπτύχθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια της διοργάνωσης. Αντικείμενο της μελέτης είναι οι επαγγελματίες που εργάστηκαν στην έκθεση και οι τρόποι με τους οποίους η μη-τυπική γνώση που απέκτησαν ενσωματώθηκε στις μετέπειτα επαγγελματικές τους διαδρομές, τόσο στον δημόσιο και ιδιωτικό τομέα όσο και στην ανεξάρτητη καλλιτεχνική σκηνή της Αθήνας.
Η εργασία επιχειρεί να κατανοήσει κατά πόσο η documenta 14 λειτούργησε ως πεδίο μετάδοσης επαγγελματικής κουλτούρας, δεξιοτήτων και γνώσης. Η βιβλιογραφική επισκόπηση περιλαμβάνει θεωρητικά εργαλεία γύρω από τους κόσμους της τέχνης, την άτυπη γνώση, την άυλη εργασία, τις εργασιακές υποκειμενικότητες. Επίσης, εστιάζει σε αναλύσεις της ίδιας της documenta 14 από επιμελητική και θεσμική σκοπιά.
Η μεθοδολογία βασίστηκε στη μελέτη του επίσημα δημοσιευμένου από την documenta υλικού και σε ημι-δομημένες συνεντεύξεις με επαγγελματίες που εργάστηκαν στη διοργάνωση. Σκοπός ήταν να καταγραφούν οι πρακτικές που υιοθετήθηκαν, τα πρότυπα επαγγελματικής συμπεριφοράς που αναδύθηκαν και ο τρόπος με τον οποίο αυτά μεταφέρθηκαν και λειτούργησαν σε νέα πλαίσια. Από τα εμπειρικά δεδομένα προκύπτει ότι το άτυπο know-how της documenta 14 διαμορφώθηκε μέσα από αντιφατικές συνθήκες: υψηλό συμβολικό κεφάλαιο, διεθνές δίκτυο και επαγγελματική κινητικότητα, αλλά και εμπειρίες επισφάλειας, αδιαφάνειας και εξάντλησης. Το know-how αυτό λειτούργησε σε πολλαπλά επίπεδα –τεχνικό, οργανωτικό, επιτελεστικό– και μεταφέρθηκε δυναμικά τόσο στις ανεξάρτητες πρωτοβουλίες όσο και σε μεταθεσμικά περιβάλλοντα. Ωστόσο, η μετάδοση της γνώσης αυτής δεν υπήρξε ουδέτερη: κουβαλούσε τις εντάσεις της θεσμικής κουλτούρας από την οποία προήλθε.
Η εργασία καταλήγει ότι η documenta 14 άφησε πίσω της μια άυλη κληρονομιά, που λειτούργησε συσσωρευτικά και σε συνάρτηση με την εγχώρια σκηνή και τις δυναμικές της. Ο εντοπισμός και η μελέτη αυτής της γνώσης προσφέρουν ένα εργαλείο κατανόησης της εικαστικής σκηνής και αξιοποίησης του ως ένα δυναμικό πεδίο που μπορεί να φέρει καθοριστούς μετασχηματισμούς.This thesis investigates the case of documenta 14 in Athens (2017), focusing on the formation and circulation of tacit professional knowledge developed during the implementation of the exhibition. The study examines the experiences of professionals who worked on the project and explores how the non-explicit, embodied knowledge they acquired was later integrated into their professional paths across the public sector, the private cultural field, and the independent art scene in Athens. The research seeks to understand to what extent documenta 14 functioned as a site for the transmission of professional culture, skills, and ways of working. The literature review draws on theoretical frameworks concerning art worlds, tacit knowledge, immaterial labor, and cultural subjectivities. It also engages with curatorial and institutional analyses of documenta 14. The methodology combines an analysis of officially published materials by the documenta organization with semi-structured interviews with professionals who were employed during the Athens edition. The aim was to trace the practices that were adopted, the professional behaviors that emerged, and how these transferred and adapted to new contexts. Findings suggest that the tacit know-how produced through documenta 14 was shaped under contradictory conditions: high symbolic capital, access to international networks, and professional mobility coexisted with experiences of precarity, opacity, and exhaustion. This knowledge operated across multiple levels — technical, organizational, and performative — and was actively transmitted to both independent initiatives and para-institutional contexts. Yet, its transmission was not neutral, as it carried embedded tensions stemming from the institutional culture that generated it. The study concludes that documenta 14 left behind an immaterial legacy that continues to interact with the dynamics of the local art scene. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
