    M. N. Srinivas, the well known sociologist is widely recognised as architect of modern Indian sociology and social anthropology. His publications have been analysed by year, domain, authorship pattern, channels of communication used. Keywords, etc. The results indicate that the papers published by him are of a nature that qualify him to be a 'role model' for the younger generations to emulate. By the end of 1995, Srinivas had to his credit 144 papers which, included 33 broad papers in sociology and anthropology; 18 papers in social change; 28 papers in village studies; 12 papers on religion; 17 papers on caste and 36 papers of general popular interest. The periods 1958-61 and 1974-77, when Srinivas was 38-41 and 58-61 years old. were his most productive periods with highest publication activity

Use of health tourism as a basis for improving physical condition of primary school age children / G. Butenko, N. Goncharova, V. Saienko, H. Tolchieva // Journal of Physical Education and Sport (JPES). – 2017. – V. 17. - № 6. - P. 34-39.The article is devoted to explanation and elaboration of recreation and health-improving technology embracing health tourism means for the cohort of primary school age children after the school hours aimed at improvement of physical well-being of the primary school pupils. Essential features of this technology is unit principle of classes planning and usage of the health tourism means divided into units "Tourists", "Athletes", "Orienteers", "Local historians" through entertainments, active games, walks, excursions, hikes, contests and competitions. It was found out that the pupils, practicing the described technology based on the health tourism means have higher functional state of organism indices (related to heart-vascular system, physical health level and organism adaptive-reserve capacities), better results in general physical and mental state, activity and temper. The suggested technology benefits to the physical health of primary school age children and has potential for implementation of innovative sports and health methods in the process of physical education

Numerical investigation of localized exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in pipe flow

    No full text
The edge state solution in pipe flow at Re=2200 is calculated numerically. The solution has the form of spatially localized puff-like structure drifting downstream. In the moving frame it is represented by a steady average flow and time-periodic pulsation flow. It is shown, that the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability mechanism is not valid for pulsation generation in the edge state flow

An ionization limit of 789516±24cm1=97.8816±0.0030789516 \pm 24 cm^{-1} = 97.8816 \pm 0.0030 ev. Has been determined from these Ions series for N V.

Physical condition of primary school children in school year dynamics / H. Butenko, N. Goncharova, V. Saienko, H. Tolchieva, I. Vako // Journal of Physical Education and Sport. - 2017. - № 17(2), аrt 82. - P. 543-549.The publication covers the issues of primary school-aged children’s physical condition, the analysis of somatometrical, somatoscopical and physiometric parameters of primary school-aged children’s physical condition during the school year allows for the conclusion that the indices of children’s physical development and its balance are mainly located within average indices. The indices of cardiovascular system functioning in primary school-aged children are as well within average values, which is proved by the results of analyzing the indices of adaptive and potential capacity of children’s bodies. Poor indices of respiratory system functioning, as well as the indicesof physical efficiency and physical fitness in primary school children were revealed. The survey of disease incidence in primary school children indicated that over half of children have non-contagious diseases, with the highest rate of musculoskeletal disorders. Psychoemotional responses to study load of the majority of children are close to negative ones. The data, received as the research result, indicates the necessity to conduct fitness and health recreation activity for the primary school-aged children as a part of physical education, aiming to improve the indices of their physical conditions

Main and Interactive Effects of Diabetes Distress and Stress from Life Events on Overall Psychological Distress

    No full text
This study sought to extend previous research by examining rates of three different types of diabetes distress, and whether stress from life events amplified the association between diabetes distress and overall psychological distress in a community-based sample of 119 middle-aged and older adults with type 2 diabetes. Consistent with past research, individuals experienced a moderate level of diabetes distress. However, only some types of diabetes distress were associated with depressive symptoms, independent of stressful life events, whereas all types of diabetes distress were only related to anxious symptoms when stress from life events was also high. This has not been published yet (just accepted). I do not know if there is an embargo period for this journal.Peer reviewe

    The Author as the Antihero

    No full text
The article correlates the notions of the author and the antihero. With reference to the literary group of the Cursed Poets, the article studies the aesthetic problem of the coexistence of good and evil within one person, the author as a creator and the author as a fallen angel, rebelling against the law set down by the Creator

The construction of Karen Karnak: The multi-author-function

This thesis is situated within the comparatively recent developments of Web 2.0 and the emergence of interactive WikiMedia, and explores the mode of authorship within a Read/Write culture compared to that of a Read/Only tradition. The hypothesis of this study is that the role of the audience has become merged with the author, and as such, represents new functions and attributes, distinct from a more conventional concept of authorship, in which the roles of audience and author are more separate. Read/Write and participatory culture, as defined by this study, is focused on collaboration, and includes the influences of D.I.Y. culture, Open-Source practices and the production of text by multiple authors. Multi-authorship presents a re-thinking of several concepts which support the notion of the individual author, since the focus of multi-authorship is not on attribution and ownership of a finished text, but on the continued malleability of a text. Modes of multi-authorship, demonstrated in the use of the pseudonyms Alan Smithee and Karen Eliot, represent declarative authors whose names signify multiple origins, whilst concurrently indicating a distinct body of work. The function of these names form an important context to this study, since primary research involves the construction of an experimental mode of multi-authorship utilising WikiMedia technology and the interaction of thirty nine participants, who are invited to create a body of work under the collective pseudonym Karen Karnak. The data generated by this experiment is analysed using aspects of Michel Foucault's author-function to identify and determine power structures inherent in the WikiMedia context. The interplay of power structures, including concepts such as identity, ownership and the body of work, affect the resulting mode of authorship and contribute to the construction of Karen Karnak, suggesting further areas of research into the emerging multi-author
