Mobility and threshold voltages comparison of zinc nitride-based thin-film transistor fabricated on Si and glass
No full textThe present work reports the fabrication and characterization of high mobility thin-film transistors, where zinc nitride is used as the active layer (∼100 nm thick). For the TFT, the active layer was deposited at room temperature on different substrates (Si-p type and glass) by RF magnetron sputtering method and annealed at 350 °C post-fabrication and HfO _2 was used as the gate insulation layer (∼50 nm thick). The obtained value of field-effect mobility was greater than 5 cm ^2 Vs ^−1 , with optical bandgap ∼3.07 eV. The two MIS (metal insulator semiconductor) structures were analyzed using I–V and C–V measurements. It is demonstrated that Zinc Nitride is a potential candidate to be used as an active layer in TFT fabrication. The threshold voltages of the device built on Si and glass substrates were obtained as 0.8 volts and 2.6 volts respectively

Room temperature structures beyond 1.5 Å by serial femtosecond crystallography
Get PDFabstract: About 2.5 × 10[superscript 6] snapshots on microcrystals of photoactive yellow protein (PYP) from a recent serial femtosecond crystallographic (SFX) experiment were reanalyzed to maximum resolution. The resolution is pushed to 1.46 Å, and a PYP structural model is refined at that resolution. The result is compared to other PYP models determined at atomic resolution around 1 Å and better at the synchrotron. By comparing subtleties such as individual isotropic temperature factors and hydrogen bond lengths, we were able to assess the quality of the SFX data at that resolution. We also show that the determination of anisotropic temperature factor ellipsoids starts to become feasible with the SFX data at resolutions better than 1.5 Å.The final version of this article, as published in Structural Dynamics, can be viewed online at: http://aca.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/1.491990
Electrochemical evaluations of reduced graphene oxide for efficient counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cell
Get PDFThe design and development of an alternative counter electrode (CE) using graphene-based low-cost material for the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is the major motivation of the current research to replace the traditional platinum counter electrode. Herein, we prepared reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and investigated it for an efficient CE in DSSC. The structural and morphological properties of rGO are analyzed using FESEM, TEM and Raman techniques. The performance of I3- reduction on the CE is characterized by the EIS Nyquist plot, cyclic voltammetry, and the Tafel curve. The measured electrochemical results suggested that rGO CE has a lower charge transfer resistance (Rct), higher cathodic current density (Jrd), and higher Tafel slope as compared to graphene oxide (GO) CE, revealing that rGO CE has good catalytic activity towards the I3- reduction

Abstract
Background and Study Aim
The main aim of the study was to determine the level of optimism and life satisfaction among men of different ages who professionally or recreationally practice judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Material and Methods
The study involved 43 judo athletes, 43 Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes (BJJ) and 42 persons in a control group (homogenously selected in terms of sex and age). The study used the SWLS scale to determine the satisfaction with life and the LOT-R test to determine the level of optimism. Descriptive parametric statistics were presented in order to show the analysed variables. Due to the number of subjects in groups, nonparametric statistics were used in the analysis – to analyse the differences, the Anova Kruskal-Wallis test; to analyse correlations between variables, the agglomerations method using Euclidean distances (single bond in space). In the analysis of the magnitude of the influence of variables on life satisfaction and optimism, parameter β was used – the significance of the parameter (p) was based on Wald's statistics.
Results
Analysis of intergroup differences for the judo, BJJ, and control groups revealed significant differences in education, social status, professional work, and health condition.
The compared psychological variables – quality of life and life orientation in terms of standardised results did not reveal significant differences; however, the dichotomous division of the quality of life allowed indicating the distinctness of the compared groups.
The analysis of multiple comparisons revealed that the differences only concerned the characteristics of the judo and the control groups, while the BJJ and the judo groups significantly differed in the quality and the length of their sports careers. Systems of characteristic features to explain the quality of life and life orientation were also searched for – the agglomerations method allowed indicating the distinctness of the BJJ and the judo groups in terms of the length of their sports careers.
Based on the conducted logistic regression analysis, the likelihood of high or low quality of life and of life orientation and optimism in both groups of athletes has been identified, and differences consistent with previous observations have been indicated.
Conclusions
The subjects involved in combat sports significantly differ from those who do not practice sports in terms of education, social status, work situation and health assessment. The presence of high or low life satisfaction differentiates the compared groups.

The 'D-books' of Daryaganj sunday book market
No full textDaryaganj Sunday Book Market, popularly known as Daryaganj Sunday Patri Kitab Bazaar, is a weekly informal market for used, rare, and pirated books that has been operating on the streets of Old Delhi for the past fifty years. In this essay, I focus on one of the circuits that has been flourishing in this market, that of pirated or ‘duplicate’ or D-books. In order to examine the forms in which piracy thrives in the present-day Patri Kitab Bazaar, and the reasons behind it, I compare two types of pirated books found here: a low-price self-help manual in Hindi and a ‘D’ copy of an English novel by popular Indian author Chetan Bhagat. As I examine the essential role that ‘randomness’ plays in the constitution of pirated texts, I suggest that there is organization to this apparent lack of pattern or unpredictability. Such permutation of order and chaos resonates with the location of the bazaar – a site that thrives on the serendipity of the streets
