    No full text
There have been studies on Vietnamese dishes or Vietnamese restaurants in Finland; however, there is no specific research in Kajaani about Vietnamese cuisine, especially applying Vietnamese dishes into a Finnish restaurant's menu. The choice of topic was based on personal interest in the restaurant business operation and menu creation. The author hopes that the thesis will contribute to the development of the restaurant industry in Kajaani becoming more diverse. During the process, the author used results from previous studies as a resource for this research. The main goal of the thesis was to develop a lunch buffet menu for Sulo by adding Vietnamese food during the timeframe from November 2019 to November 2020. The thesis consists of a theoretical background related to the food culture of Vietnam and Finland, product development, menu planning. Respondents of the survey were 154 customers who visited Sulo restaurant for three days in September 2020. A combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods was used through interviews and surveys among Sulo's staff and customers to collect in-depth information for the idea to design the new menu. As a result of the thesis, many customers expected that Vietnamese food would be served by Sulo restaurant monthly. Also, four suggested menus have been selected by the author, which have to be useful and suitable in accordance with all the rules and regulations of the Sulo restaurant. The research paper has answered the research questions, although there are some limitations. The author wishes to have the opportunity to continue the studies, or an-other student interested in the topic might implement the suggested menu at Sulo to get accurate feedback from customers on Vietnamese food

Käesolevas töös on analüüsitud Ettevõtte X võtmemõõdikute põhjal COVID-19 pandeemia mõju ettevõtte osakonna tööle. Samuti toodi välja muudatuste sisseviimisega seotud probleeme. Ettevõtte X osakonna töö korraldamiseks ja tulevaste võimalike kriisidega paremaks toimetulekuks esitati lõputöö viimases osas järeldused ja ettepanekud, milleks on kasutatavate mõõdikute täpsem põhjendus ja kirjeldus, töörühma moodustamine, materjalide soetamise strateegia jaoks vajalike tootmismaterjalide grupeerimine olulisuse ja koguste/mahu järgi. The before paper is written in Estonian, where the topic of it is: „Managing the impact and changes caused by Covid-19 crisis based on Company X” to which the author examined the nature and impact of COVID- 19, while also exploring the measures taken by leading organizations to control the virus's spread. This paper will focus on a possibility of future integration of nature and biology in the design process of architecture, a field already known as biomimicry, which has been long used in the design field for many different products. As the practice of applying lessons from nature can lead to the invention of healthier, more sustainable strategies and technologies, the research will seek to establish an example of a methodology for designers and architects to integrate biomimicry in the process of architectural design. Janine Benyus, author of the book “Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature”, has defined biomimicry as the “conscious emulation of life’s genius.” The paper will use this view as an intentional reading and application of existing systems and solutions found in nature that are far more advanced and that can tremendously elevate designers ideas and performance. Entering the discussion of a universal design methodology that could be used from the more common to the more extreme environments the research paper will be focused on living beings that exist on a environment that in itself has extreme life conditions, which is the underwater world. Studying how creatures can cope or benefit from these extreme conditions, can bring significant inspiration to design in places inside or outside planet Earth. Exploring just a fraction of the realm could bring many insights on how these organisms and systems can provide solutions for very interesting design elements, including pressure, radiation, material durability, regeneration and more. Using computational design as a tool which can achieve the complexity of living systems and processes, the paper will also conclude on an application of the proposed methodology through an architectural project. The project will demonstrate the methods proposed in the research and try to provide solutions for some of the chosen issues that arise in a chosen location. With the goal of a process that challenges the norms, the project will be imagined as one of the first structures for habitation in the planet Mars, as a possible precedent for other architectural projects in existing extreme conditions on Earth

Published by BMJ.Nutritional support improves clinical outcomes during hospitalisation as well as after discharge. Recently, a systematic review of 27 randomised, controlled trials showed that nutritional support was associated with lower rates of hospital readmissions and improved survival. In the present economic modelling study, we sought to determine whether in-hospital nutritional support would also return economic benefits. The current economic model applied cost estimates to the outcome results from our recent systematic review of hospitalised patients. In the underlying meta-analysis, a total of 27 trials (n=6803 patients) were included. To calculate the economic impact of nutritional support, a Markov model was developed using transitions between relevant health states. Costs were estimated accounting for length of stay in a general hospital ward, hospital-acquired infections, readmissions and nutritional support. Six-month mortality was also considered. The estimated daily per-patient cost for in-hospital nutrition was US6.23.Overallcostsofcarewithinthemodeltimeframeof6monthsaveragedUS6.23. Overall costs of care within the model timeframe of 6 months averaged US63 227 per patient in the intervention group versus US66045inthecontrolgroup,whichcorrespondstoperpatientcostsavingsofUS66 045 in the control group, which corresponds to per patient cost savings of US2818. These cost savings were mainly due to reduced infection rate and shorter lengths of stay. We also calculated the costs to prevent a hospital-acquired infection and a non-elective readmission, that is, US820andUS820 and US733, respectively. The incremental cost per life-day gained was −US$1149 with 2.53 additional days. The sensitivity analyses for cost per quality-adjusted life day provided support for the original findings. For medical inpatients who are malnourished or at nutritional risk, our findings showed that in-hospital nutritional support is a cost-effective way to reduce risk for readmissions, lower the frequency of hospital-associated infections, and improve survival rates.publishersversionpublishe

This study explores the semantic components and expansions of “Kung Tuyo na ang Luha Mo, Aking Bayan,†focusing on the linguistic experiences of the author in the poem, semantic components, semantic expansion, and implications in education. Relational qualitative content analysis was utilized to unpack the poem systematically. The findings highlight significant semantic components and expansion in line/s such as “Lumuha ka, aking bayan; buong lungkot mo iluhaâ€, Personification, depicted as a person crying, symbolizing national grief under colonial oppression, additionally, “Katulad mo ay si Huli, naaliping bayad-utang, katulad mo ay si Sisa, binaliw ng kahirapanâ€, Simile, the nation is compared to Rizal’s tragic characters Juli and Sisa, symbolizing suffering under colonial and systemic oppression. Moreover, with words/phrases like "Lukob ng dayong bandila" or "Covered by a foreign flag", the Philippines is metaphorically overshadowed by foreign domination, symbolizing lost sovereignty. "Sisigaw kang buong giting sa liyab ng libong sulo" or "You will shout courageously in the blaze of a thousand torches.", The phrase signifies unity and revolution, portraying a collective uprising. Therefore, students significantly appreciate literature and how helpful it is in fostering historical and national knowledge as identity. This research provides a foundation to include works like "Kung Tuyo Na ang Luha Mo, Aking Bayan" in the curriculum, encouraging students to interact with texts to drive social change and cultivate a greater appreciation for Philippine literature

V zadnjem delu magistrskega dela predstavi ureditev spremenjenih okoliščin urejeno v vzorčnih Načelih evropskega zavarovalnega pogodbenega prava in jo sistematično primerja s tre-nutno slovensko ureditvijo. The author of this thesis elaborates on issues regarding the doctrine of changed circumstances (clau-sula rebus sic stantibus) specifically in the field of Slovenian insurance contract law with comparative view of Principles of European Insurance Contract Law. Changed circumstances which result in diffi-culties to meet contractual obligations and incompliance with initial contractual purpose are first dealt within the scope of Slovenian general institute which aims to establish initial equilibrium between the obligations of the contractual parties. Established overview of the general institute serves as a base for detailed analysis of mentioned institute within the framework of the insurance contract law. The au-thor examines the questions of what are the relevant circumstances that establish the need for applica-tion of analysed institute and what is its influence on party’s contractual rights and obligations. Fur-thermore, the author explains which circumstances entitle the parties with the right to terminate the contract, when do the changed circumstances result in the right to adjust the initially stipulated con-tract and when is the insurer entitled to withhold the payment of the compensation in the case of in-sured event. At the same time, the analysis establishes the differences in applicability of the general institute and the lex specialis within the Slovenian legal system. Lastly, the author compares the insti-tute of changed circumstances in the insurance contract imposed by Slovenian law with the Principles of European Insurance Contract Law

This paper studies changes in spreads on bank loans to developing countries during 1968-81. It found that a borrower's experience had a significant impact on spreads. Spreads started at high values at low levels of loan experience and decreased as experience increased. Spreads at initial-experience levels were about 30 percent above benchmark, with experience. The impact of experience became negligible with 30 prior loans. The paper also suggests that a greater role for international organizations in collecting and disseminating information about potential borrowers. Indeed, international institutions have been doing more of this fact-finding since the onset of the debt crisis.Financial Intermediation,Economic Theory&Research,Banks&Banking Reform,Economic Adjustment and Lending,Environmental Economics&Policies
