Mappare le competenze argomentative: un'analisi multi fase delle tesi di Laurea Magistrale di Unimore
No full textQuesto studio mappa la competenza argomentativa degli studenti di laurea magistrale iscritti al programma LACOM (Lingue per la Comunicazione nell’Impresa e nelle Organizzazioni Internazionali) dell’Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Unimore), analizzando le sezioni di Revisione della Letteratura (Literature Review, LR) delle tesi scritte in inglese e archiviate nel repository MoReThesis. La ricerca persegue un duplice obiettivo: in primo luogo, indagare come la competenza argomentativa si realizzi in questo contesto EMI (English-Medium Instruction); in secondo luogo, sviluppare un nuovo quadro analitico e pedagogico per la scrittura della tesi, che integri l’English for Academic Purposes (EAP) e la pragma-dialettica. La competenza argomentativa è qui intesa e presentata come operante su tre livelli correlati: il livello macro (struttura del genere), il livello meso (organizzazione dell’argomentazione) e il livello micro (realizzazione linguistica). Sulla base di questa concettualizzazione, è stato progettato un quadro teorico a tre livelli a supporto sia dell’analisi empirica che dell’intervento pedagogico. Tuttavia, l’indagine empirica si è concentrata sui primi due livelli. È stata prima condotta un’analisi basata sulle “mosse” di genere (rhetorical moves) per esaminare come gli studenti strutturino la LR al fine di sostenere l’argomentazione accademica generale; secondariamente, un’analisi pragma-dialettica delle tendenze argomentative ha esplorato come gli studenti costruiscono e organizzano i passaggi argomentativi relativi all’individuazione del gap di ricerca e alla giustificazione dello studio. L’analisi ha rivelato che, sebbene gli studenti dimostrino una solida competenza linguistica, emergono difficoltà generali nel mantenere coesione retorica e focalizzazione argomentativa nelle loro LR. Le analisi hanno evidenziato tendenze ricorrenti alla descrittività, una forte dipendenza argomentativa da fonti esterne e una frammentazione dell’argomentazione. Questi fenomeni sono stati concettualizzati rispettivamente come “forza centrifuga argomentativa” e “dispersione argomentativa,” due pattern che rivelano una mancanza di consapevolezza degli studenti rispetto agli scopi retorici della LR—dimostrare una conoscenza approfondita e utilizzare voci esterne per posizionare e giustificare la propria ricerca—e al ruolo strategico che la costruzione dell’argomentazione riveste in una discussione critica. I risultati evidenziano la necessità di una pedagogia della scrittura di tesi magistrali che affronti esplicitamente la competenza argomentativa su più livelli, offrendo così una base teorica nuova, empiricamente fondata e pedagogicamente utile per ripensare l’insegnamento dell’argomentazione accademica nei contesti EMI, in particolare a Unimore, dove il supporto strutturato e istituzionale alla scrittura della tesi è ancora limitato.This study maps the argumentative competence of MA students enrolled in the LACOM program (Languages for Communication in International Enterprises and Organizations) at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) by analyzing the Literature Review (LR) sections of English-written theses archived in the MoReThesis repository. The research pursues a dual aim: first, to investigate how argumentative competence is realized in this EMI context; and second, to develop a new analytical and pedagogical framework for thesis writing that integrates English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and pragma-dialectics. Argumentative competence is conceptualized as operating across three interrelated levels: the macro level (genre structure), the meso level (argument organization), and the micro level (linguistic realization). Based on this conceptualization, a three-level framework was designed to support both empirical analysis and pedagogical intervention. However, the empirical investigation focused on the first two levels. A genre-based move analysis was conducted to examine how students structure the Literature Review to support the overarching academic argument, and an argumentative trend analysis was carried out to explore how students construct and organize argumentative steps related to research gap establishment and study justification. The analysis revealed that, while students demonstrate strong linguistic proficiency, a general struggle to maintain rhetorical cohesion and argumentative focus in their Literature Reviews was found. The analyses identified recurrent tendencies toward descriptiveness and heavy argumentative reliance on external sources, and a fragmentation of argumentation. These have been conceptualized respectively as argumentative centrifugal force and argumentative dispersion, two patterns that reveal students’ lack of awareness in the rhetorical goals of LR—demonstrating deep knowledge and utilizing external voices to position and justify one’s research—and the strategic role argument construction plays in a critical discussion. These results highlight the need for a pedagogy of MA thesis writing that explicitly addresses argumentative competence at multiple levels, thus offering a theoretically new, empirically-based and practical foundation for rethinking how academic argumentation is taught in EMI contexts, and particularly at Unimore, where structured and institutional thesis writing support remains limited

No full textCon la presente ricerca si è pensato di porre le basi di un percorso di rivalutazione e analisi geostorica degli spazi rurali gravitanti attorno alle Università della Marsica in età moderna, con riguardo particolare – per questo primo tentativo – all’ambito territoriale compreso fra i comuni di Cerchio e Collarmele. Si vuol fare riferimento a quegli insediamenti rurali, dalle entità ecclesiali ai caseggiati rustici, talvolta modestamente fortificati, che furono protagonisti di quel fenomeno di graduale abbandono periferico caratterizzante la genesi delle piccole universitates esaminate, sorte dall’inurbamento dei villaggi circostanti cui fece seguito il loro potenziamento urbano e demografico, ultimato attraverso la spinta ricevuta dal riassetto amministrativo della diocesi dei Marsi immediatamente dopo il Concilio di Trento, che vide impegnati alacremente i vescovi Giovan Battista Milanesi e Matteo Colli nei rispettivi periodi di attività episcopale
Academic socialisation and the thesis genre: Reflections on a pilot study
No full textWith increasing recognition of the challenges posed by academic discourse for both native and non-native English speakers, this chapter explores the integration of academic socialisation into university curricula, focusing on a pilot study of thesis writing at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The course merges English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP) and English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) within an English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) context. The methodological framework adopts a multi-lens approach, utilising student feedback, teacher evaluations, and observational data to assess the course's impact on student preparedness in academic writing. Results indicate significant improvements in students' ability to engage with advanced writing tasks, underscoring the benefits of structured support in thesis writing. The study concludes by proposing ongoing refinements in course design, emphasising practical, data-driven activities and a flexible curriculum to optimise learning outcomes in EMI contexts

L’indagine si concentra in primo luogo sul trasferimento d’azienda, esaminando la normativa e la giurisprudenza europee per passare poi alla disciplina di diritto interno, alle procedure sindacali e a uno specifico focus sul trasferimento delle aziende in crisi.
Successivamente l’autore si sofferma sull’appalto, prendendone in particolare considerazione gli indici di genuinità, i criteri di distinzione dalla somministrazione illecita di manodopera e la tutela delle maestranze in caso di avvicendamento fra imprese.
Da ultimo, la ricerca approfondisce le c.d. “clausole sociali”, sia di prima che di seconda generazione, valutandone la compatibilità con il diritto eurounitario e con la costituzione nonché riflettendo sui possibili rimedi in caso di loro violazione.The author analyzes the labour consequences of the succession between entrepreneurs, starting from a recognition of the various types of outsourcing with the related needs and main critical issues.
The survey focuses primarily on the transfer of businesses, examining European legislation and case-law and then moving on to internal legislation, trade union procedures and a specific focus on the transfer of companies in crisis.
The author then dwells on the contract, taking into account in particular the indications of authenticity, the criteria of distinction from the illicit administration of labour and the protection of workers in the event of turnover between companies.
Finally, the research deepens the "social clauses", both first and second generation, assessing their compatibility with European law and with the constitution and reflecting on possible remedies in case of their violation

technologies in the automotive industry through: the UK Low Carbon Industrial Strategy. The overall objective is to offer big incentives to consumers and support for the development of infrastructure and engineering solutions. This scheme however does not consider how the development of functional and experiential user value might drive consumer demand, contributing to the adoption of low carbon vehicles (LCVs) in the mass market.
With the emergence of the North East of England as the UK’s first specialised region for the development of ultra-low carbon vehicles (ULCVs), ONE North East, as a development agency for the region's economic and business development, and Northumbria University Ideas-lab have supported a project to facilitate innovation through the collaboration of technology, research and development (R&D) and business. The High Value Low Carbon (HVLC) project aims to envisage
new user value made possible by the integration of low carbon vehicle platforms with new process and network technologies. The HVLC consortium represents vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers as well as technology based companies and through an ongoing process of design concept generation the project offers a hub for innovation led enterprise.
Whilst new technological developments in areas such as power generation, nano materials, hydrogen fuel cells, printed electronics and networked communications will all impact on future automotive design, the mass adoption of low carbon technologies represents a paradigm shift for the motorist. This paper aims to describe how the mapping of new parameters will lead to new transport scenarios that will create the space for new collaborative research on user experiences supported by innovative technologies and related services

No full textNel contributo l'autore, dopo aver esaminato i diritti fondamentali del lavoro presenti nelle Costituzioni dei Paesi della Comunità di Stati indipendenti, si sofferma sul diritto del lavoro russo. La trattazione, a carattere diacronico, abbraccia i rami principali del diritto del lavoro: il rapporto individuale, le relazioni collettive, il mercato del lavoro. L'autore rileva una sorprendente continuità nelle linee essenziali del diritto del lavoro russo, pur nel susseguirsi di sistemi socioeconomici completamente diversi. Egli conclude che il diritto del lavoro russo appartiene saldamente alla matrice europea della materia.The contribution of the author starts by examining fundamental labour rights recognised by the Constitutions of the Countries of the Community of Independent States. Then the author focuses upon Russian Labour Law, going through the history of the main branches of the discipline: the individual relationship, industrial relations, the labour market. The article finds a surprising continuity in the essential lines of Russian Labour Law, in spite of the completely different socio-economic systems that were experimented in Russia during the twentieth century. The author concludes that Russian Labour Law clearly belongs to the European matrix of the discipline

No full textAt the end of the second edition of his Storia dell’architettura italiana, Manfredo Tafuri declares that “one book assumes a crucial relevance”1 in finding a way out of the endemic crisis of modern architecture in the 1980s: Il racconto urbanistico. The publication of this work by the Italian urban planner 2 Bernardo Secchi in 1984 constitutes a unique event in recent European architecture—an event that still has not been appropriately described or analyzed. Matteo D’Ambros and Roberto Zancan met with the author to discuss the circumstances of the book’s publication. In a world of short memory, revisiting the possible contribution of literary studies to architecture and urban planning promises to shed light on the contemporary understanding of the disciplines. / Manfredo Tafuri schreibt am Ende der zweiten Auflage seiner Storia dell’architettura italiana, dass bei der Suche nach einem Ausweg aus der endemischen Krise der modernen Architektur in den 1980er Jahren „einem Buch entscheidende Bedeutung zukommt“1: Il racconto urbanistico.
