The Biodiversity Information System of Colombia - SiB, the Alexander von Humboldt Institute (IAvH) and the Colombian Society of Mastozoology (SCMas) joined technical, administrative and financial efforts to add information on mammals to the national biodiversity inventory in the country they occur, through cooperation agreement No. 17 -16-062-022CE. The products of this agreement will be described in this correspondence and cover the updating of the last species reference list (Ramírez-Chaves et al. 2016), the creation of 50 species records and the publication of more than 3500 biological records of mammals on the SiB platform under the Darwin Core standard.

SCMAS: A distributed hierarchical multi-agent architecture for blocking attacks to databases

One of the main attacks on databases is the SQL injection attack which causes severe damage both in the commercial aspect and the confidence of users. This paper presents a novel strategy for detecting and preventing SQL injection attacks consisting of a multi-agent based architecture called SCMAS. The SCMAS architecture is structured in hierarchical layers and incorporates SQLCBR agents with improved learning and adaptation capabilities. The SQLCBR agents presented within this paper have been specifically designed to classify SQL injection attacks and to predict the behaviour of malicious users. These agents incorporate a new technique based on a mixture of neural networks and a technique based on a temporal series. This paper begins with a detailed explanation of the SCMAS architecture and the SQLCBR agents. The results of their application to a case study are then presented and discussed. One of the main attacks on databases is the SQL injection attack which causes severe damage both in the commercial aspect and the confidence of users. In this issue Mammalogy Notes and the Colombian Society of Mammalogy (SCMas) make special recognition of the importance of biological collections to study, understand and promote the knowledge and conservation of mammals. We hope that with this new series of manuscripts we will be able to make visible the main strengths and weaknesses of the biological collections that house mammals in Colombia and that it will be a starting point for the articulation of collections with the SCMas collections committee.

This paper presents an improvement of the SCMAS architecture aimed at securing SQL-run databases. The main goal of such architecture is the detection and prevention of SQL injection attacks. The improvement consists in the incorporation of unsupervised projection models for the visual inspection of SQL traffic. Through the obtained projections, SQL injection queries can be identified and subsequent actions can be taken. The proposed approach has been tested on a real dataset, and the obtained results are shown. This paper presents an improvement of the SCMAS architecture aimed at securing SQL-run databases. Small and medium-sized carnivores (families Mustelidae, Procyonidae, Canidae and Mephitidae) are one of the groups ofLesser known mammals in Colombia, however, represent The Colombian Society of Mastozoology (SCMas) arose from the need to gather, promote and facilitate the research processes of mammals in the country (González-Maya & Mantilla-Meluk 2011). This process, as a natural evolution of the different branches of science in a country, coincides with a long-standing trajectory that initially occurred in some developed countries.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
