    La diffusione e l’affermazione delle comparazioni internazionali svolta ormai da anni dall’OCSE è ormai sotto gli occhi di tutti: ricercatori, policy makers, dirigenti scolastici, docenti, professionisti del mondo dell’ education, mass media e opinione pubblica. L’intervista che apre questo numero di Scuola Democratica è particolarmente interessante perché permette di “vedere dall’interno” le linee di sviluppo delle attività di ricerca ed analisi nell’ambito dell’education svolte dall’OCSE: le linee guida sulle quali si basano il sistema di indicatori (e la loro evoluzione nel tempo), i progetti in corso, i nuovi progetti (e le loro differenze rispetto ad altre indagini). Andreas Schleicher, capo della divisione Indicatori e analisi dell’Ocse e responsabile dell’indagine PISA, illustra, dal suo punto di vista, le risposte e le strategie che i sistemi educativi dovranno dare rispetto alle nuove sfide globali (ma anche locali). Schleicher mostra come sia in atto un passaggio dal mondo del sapere inteso come “stock di conoscenza” ad un mondo del sapere come flusso di conoscenze interconnesse ed in continuo movimento. Nel corso dell’intervista Schleicher ha inoltre evidenziano i punti di forza e di debolezza e le possibili vie di miglioramento dei sistemi e dei metodi di misurazione predisposti dall’OCSE. Nell’intervista è poi emersa la visione strategica dell’OCSE rispetto a cosa è una “buona” istruzione anche in relazione alle differenze tra i sistemi educativi nazionali.The spread and success of international comparisons carried out by the OECD is, in recent years, a reality for everyone working in the field of education: researchers, policy makers, school administrators, teachers, professionals, mass media and public opinion. The interview that opens this issue of Scuola Democratica is particularly interesting because it allows "to see inside the lines" of development of research and analysis conducted by the OECD in the Education field: the guidelines which is based indicator system (and their evolution over time), the ongoing projects, the new projects (and their differences compared to other international surveys and researches). Andreas Schleicher, Head of the Indicators and Analysis Division of the OECD, and Director of the PISA survey, explains, from his point of view, the responses and strategies that education systems will have to give respect to new global (and local) challenges. Schleicher shows how it is implementing a transition from the world of knowledge understood as an immobile "stock of knowledge" to a world where the knowledge is an interconnected flow constantly moving. During the interview Schleicher also highlights the strengths, weaknesses and possible ways of improving systems and methods of measures proposed by the OECD. In the interview it has been found the strategic vision of OECD with respect to what is "good" education in relation to differences between national education systems

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
