Structural-semantic particularities of the names-precedents in the Chinese discourse
The author suggests according to the real working of the names-precedents in the discourse to differentiate the names-precedents-references and the names-precedents-descriptions
STATEMENTS OF DOCTOR TARASENKOV ON THE LAST DAYS OF GOGOL'S LIFE: SCIENTIFIC AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS
In the article, Dr. Tarasenkov's notes on the last days of Gogol's life were critically analyzed. Discrepancies of the published text with draft autographs are revealed. It is established that the most important source of information for the author was the oral stories of Count Tolstoy, reproduced in the text of notes from the first person. The diagnosis of Gogol's death illness, made by Tarasenkov, relied not so much on the results of his medical examination, but rather on the prevalent ideas in society that Gogol had died from exhaustion, that is, simply put, starved himself.</jats:p
Methods of fixing and circulating precedent names in Chinese cultural space
The paper presents some results of the study of precedent names of a Chinese cultural space and describes the main methods of fixing and circulating precedent names (PN) in a modern Chinese discourse. According to the author, the main ways include epithets-invariants of the perception of referents of precedent names in dictionaries and textbooks, and, therefore, in the minds of the Chinese who went to school; special dictionaries and collections with images of PN referents (more often these are historical personalities) and very brief encyclopedic information about them; adapted chapters from precedent texts with headings in the form of precedent names-eventonyms in books for children and teenagers; phraseological units and set expressions of Chinese language of all types which are connected with the precedent phenomena; frame works; precedent names, precedent texts. The author believes that epithets represented by phraseological units, phraseological units as such, name variants and precedent texts can be attributed to primary basic methods. These methods show the specifics of the Chinese cultural space and serve the basis for PN preservation, fixation and translation. Special dictionaries and collections, adapted texts of chapters from classic novels with names in the form of PN eventonyms and frame works are secondary derived methods and tools that demonstrate the great demand of the Chinese linguistic and cultural community for precedent names and are based on language-saved knowledge of PN and other precedent phenomena
THE WINDOW TO THE WORLD OF THE GOSPEL TRUTH: THE POWER OF RUSSIAN FOLK SPEECH IN NIKOLAI GOGOL'S NOVEL "DEAD SOULS"
The article studies the function of Russian folk speech and its evangelical implication in Nikolai Gogol's poetics. Folk proverbs and parables is the key source of national identity in Gogol’s aesthetics, which should inspire all Russian poets. The paper asserts that the proverbial method of generalization is one of the most significant principles of typification in Gogol's novel Dead Souls. The author expresses the essence of this or that phenomenon, a situation or a human type using imaginative pictures and traits of characters. The more generalized form they take, the more they resemble the traditional folk and poetic formulas. The article also reveals the hidden message of a Russian proverb Russians are good at thinking in hindsight (“Russkiy chelovek zadnim umom krepok”). This characteristic of the Russian mind is the one with which Gogol connects the great destiny of Russia. At the end of his first volume the author resorts to the allegorical form of a parable that plays a key role in the perception of the novel. Transforming into the generalized symbol, its characters accumulate the most significant generic features and qualities of Dead Souls’ characters. The grotesque images of Kifa Mokiyevich and Mokiy Kifovich help to look at the characters of the novel from every possible side, not from one side only that shows them as small-minded and worthles people. Gogol’s characters do not possess definitely disgusting and ugly qualities, which should be eliminated for the sake of people's improvement. Sobakevich's powerful physique and pragmatism, Plushkin's thrift, Manilov's meditativeness and cordiality, as well as Nozdryov's valor and energy are not bad qualities at all and do not deserve condemnation. However, all of them as Gogol used to say are carried to extremes and take perverse and exaggerated forms
Raman spectra of the Markovka chondrite (H4)
Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy methods were used to study the fragment of the Markovka (H4 chondrite) meteorite. A characteristic set of silicate minerals (olivine and pyroxene), oxides and hydroxides (maghemite and goethite), troilite, and carbonates (aragonite) was determined. The structural features revealed by Raman spectroscopy allow us to draw important conclusions on thermal history of the parent body including both the temperature experienced by the rock on the parent body and their cooling rate as well as the constraints on the size of the parent body and the Mg composition of the assumed fluid

Caspian sea-level changes during the last millennium: Historical and geological evidence from the south Caspian Sea
This article is made available through the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund. Copyright @ Author(s) 2013. This work is distributed
under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License.Historical literature may constitute a valuable
source of information to reconstruct sea-level changes. Here,
historical documents and geological records have been combined
to reconstruct Caspian sea-level (CSL) changes during
the last millennium. In addition to a comprehensive literature
review, new data from two short sediment cores were
obtained from the south-eastern Caspian coast to identify
coastal change driven by water-level changes and to compare
the results with other geological and historical findings.
The overall results indicate a high-stand during the Little Ice
Age, up to −21m (and extra rises due to manmade river
avulsion), with a −28m low-stand during the Medieval Climate
Anomaly, while presently the CSL stands at −26.5 m.
A comparison of the CSL curve with other lake systems and
proxy records suggests that the main sea-level oscillations
are essentially paced by solar irradiance. Although the major
controller of the long-term CSL changes is driven by climatological
factors, the seismicity of the basin creates local
changes in base level. These local base-level changes should be considered in any CSL reconstruction
