Preparation of Arjunāriṣṭa- Using Microbes Isolated from Woodfordia fruticosa Flowers (Dhayati)
Objective: To verify the utility of isolated fermentative microbes from Woodfordia fruticosa flowers for preparation of Arjunāriṣṭa formulation and its comparative evaluation with the same formulation prepared by traditional method. Methodology: In the present technique, isolated colonies of microorganisms from Woodfordia fruticosa(Dhātakī) flowers on Saubroad dextrose media were separated and suspended in sterile water. This suspension was aseptically added in previously sterilized mixtures containing all intended ingredients for Arjunāriṣṭa which was thereafter incubated for 20 days at 37×C to achieve optimal fermentation. The formulation thus obtained was further subjected to various evaluation tests. Result: Arjunāriṣṭa was prepared using a new approach, and in that, isolated microorganisms from the flowers of Woodfordia fruticosa (Dhātakī) were used. It was found that the new approach was successful in generating approximately same quantities of alcohol content in comparison with traditional methods which have shown varying concentration of alcoholic content. Moreover, the new process prevents the growth of unwanted microbes thus, optimizing standards for purity and safety of the formulation. Conclusion: The formulation prepared by a new procedure showed marked uniformity for different parameters such as alcohol production, total phenol content, total solid content as compared to that prepared by the traditional method. Similarly, the results of thin layer chromatography, high performance thin layer chromatography showed marked uniformity related to quality, safety, efficacy, and reproducibility of the new method as compared to the traditional one. Thus, the modern technique was found to show reproducibility and facilitate easier quality assessment
Synergistic effects of neem (Azadirachta indica L.) leaves extract with conventional antibiotic against gram positive and negative microorganism
Background: Neem has been known to possess several complex phytoconstituent(s) and exhibits wide array of medicinal and household uses that are attributed to its active isolate(s) that possesses an ability to cure many chronic disease(s) and disorder(s). The current investigation aimed to study the combined antimicrobial effect of crude Neem extract and selected antibiotics namely Ciprofloxacin, Cefixime, Chloramphenicol, Ampicillin, Sulfamethoxazole, Tetracycline and Ofloxacin on selected Gram’s positive and negative micro organism. Crude alcoholic Neem leaf extract was used for the study.
Method: Solution A containing Neem extract 5 mg mL-1 alone, Solution B comprising of Standard antibiotics alone 5 mg mL-1 and Solution C containing combination of 2.5 mg mL-1 of Neem extract and selected standard antibiotic at a concentration of 2.5 mg mL-1 were tested for their antibacterial potential against selected strain of micro-organisms namely Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcous aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli and Bacillus subtilis using agar plate technique.
Results: The obtained results indicated the synergistic activity of the Neem extract and the selected antibiotics. It was observed that half concentration of antibiotic was sufficient to exert the antimicrobial effect when they were combined with Neem extract. Thus, the dose of standard antibiotics may be marginally reduced to almost half in concentration when combined with the Neem extract without compromising the efficacy. The zones of inhibition indicated that the combination of Neem extract and antibiotic exerted a synergistic effect which will facilitate to achieve reduction of the dose of standard antibiotics.
Conclusions: It can be concluded from the research that Neem extract when combined with the conventional antibiotic(s) can be used as a novel antimicrobial agent which exhibits a synergistic effect and also helpful to achieve a dose reduction of conventional antibiotic(s).</jats:p

In text mining most techniques depends on statistical analysis of terms. Statistical analysis trances important terms within document only. However this concept based mining model analyses terms in sentence, document and corpus level. This mining model consist of sentence based concept analysis, document based and corpus based concept analysis and concept based similarity measure. Experimental result enhances text clustering quality by using sentence, document, corpus and combined approach of concept analysis
Tuning of regimes during two-phase flow through a cross-junction
We investigate the dynamics of two immiscible fluids in a cross-junction via three-dimensional numerical simulations using the volume of fluid approach to track the dispersed phase's evolution. Different regimes, namely the dripping, squeezing, and jetting dynamics, have been observed for different dimensionless parameters, and we unveil a transition in regimes due to the concomitant interplay of capillarity, viscosity, and wettability. Our results reveal that hydrophobic channel surfaces favor a transition from squeezing to dripping behavior at a lower value of the capillary number. Moreover, higher viscosity ratios advance the process of squeezing, necking, and breakage on hydrophobic surfaces. A wettability-capillarity regime map is also presented that will have significant implications regarding the choice of substrate wettability, fluid properties, and flow rate in droplet dispensing devices. © 2021 Author(s)
Inequalities in institutional delivery uptake and maternal mortality reduction in the context of cash incentive program, Janani Suraksha Yojana : Results from nine states in India
Proportion of women giving birth in health institutions has increased sharply in India since the introduction of cash incentive program, Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) in 2005. JSY was intended to benefit disadvantaged population who had poor access to institutional care for childbirth and who bore the brunt of maternal deaths. Increase in institutional deliveries following the implementation of JSY needs to be analysed from an equity perspective. We analysed data from nine Indian states to examine the change in socioeconomic inequality in institutional deliveries five years after the implementation of JSY using the concentration curve and concentration index (CI). The CI was then decomposed in order to understand pathways through which observed inequalities occurred. Disparities in access to emergency obstetric care (EmOC) and in maternal mortality reduction among different socioeconomic groups were also assessed. Slope and relative index of inequality were used to estimate absolute and relative inequalities in maternal mortality ratio (MMR). Results shows that although inequality in access to institutional delivery care persists, it has reduced since the introduction of JSY. Nearly 70% of the present inequality was explained by differences in male literacy, EmOC availability in public facilities and poverty. EmOC in public facilities was grossly unavailable. Compared to richest division in nine states, poorest division has 135 more maternal deaths per 100,000 live births in 2010. While MMR has decreased in all areas since JSY, it has declined four times faster in richest areas compared to the poorest, resulting in increased inequalities. These findings suggest that in order for the cash incentive to succeed in reducing the inequalities in maternal health outcomes, it needs to be supported by the provision of quality health care services including EmOC. Improved targeting of disadvantaged populations for the cash incentive program could be considered
Hypoglycemic effects of Lagenaria siceraria, Cynodon dactylon and Stevia rebaudiana extracts
Introduction: The aim of the current analysis was to judge the hypoglycemic action of the phyto-extracts of Lagenaria siceraria, Cynodon dactylon and Stevia rebaudiana using suitable in vitro approaches.
Methods: The hypoglycemic activity of the phyto-material extracts was evaluated by employing various in-vitro methods namely glucose diffusion, amylolysis kinetics and glucose adsorption capacity.
Results: The extracts of L. siceraria, C. dactylon and S. rebaudiana exhibited glucose dialysis retardation indices (GDRI) of 48.14%, 37.03% and 29.62%, respectively at 60 minutes which were reduced to 15.78%, 10.52% and 18.42%, respectively at 120 minutes. All the plant extracts used in the study adsorbed glucose and their adsorptions markedly enhanced with increase in sugar concentration.
Conclusion: From the outcome of the assay it can be concluded that the extracts of L. siceraria, C. dactylon and S. rebaudiana have hypoglycemic activity as observed in various in-vitro assays. However, the beneficial actions require to be verified by adopting various in vivo techniques along with clinical trials for their efficient use as potential remedial moiety
