Machine Learning Methods in Detecting Distributed Denial of Service: A Systematic Literature Review

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) is a malicious attempt to disrupt access to information, systems, networks, etc., by overwhelming systems and networks with traffics. Many methods for mitigating DDoS attacks have been proposed. In this paper, we present a systematic literature review of the application of machine learning methods in detecting a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. We have reviewed many research papers based on the methods that provided the best performance and evidence in machine learning technique applications. Our aim is to analyse, summarise and evaluate various machine learning methods for detecting DDoS attacks. We have evaluated five types of machine learning algorithms: Multi-Linear Regression, Deep Neural Network (DNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) method, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with Autoencoder, and LSTM with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). We outline several open research questions, research techniques, parameters, and metrics. Also reviewed and contrasted were summaries of analyses and gaps in deploying a predictable machine learning model. Thus, the paper is expected to benefit academicians and researchers in developing an efficient solution for the machine learning mentioned above in detecting DDoS attacks

Identifying healing elements in a cancer treatment centre and positive psychological effects on its patients / Rusyaidi Sahnawi

Integrative cancer care is the treatment of cancer patients with effective conventional treatments in a healing atmosphere, under medical treatment, based on findings from dietary, biochemistry, exercise, and psycho-oncology research. The principles of optimum healing settings are closely aligned with the aspects of integrative cancer care. Thus, expectations of well-being are reproduced; transformative self-care strategies are common therapeutic tools; the development of healing presence among staff and therapeutic alliances with patients is focused; health-promoting behavioural patterns instruction is standard; and collaborative integration of complementary and alternative medicine into the practise is common. This research aim is to study healing elements in a cancer treatment centre and positive psychological effects on its patients in Malaysia. This research is based on data obtained from the online survey questionnaire that polled patients, accompany or family members that often using facilities of particular cancer treatment centre involved. The data was analysed to evaluate and determine the healing element attributes and its level of satisfaction that influence the strategic approach to the positive psychological effects for users. The research also aim to determine the issues that medical treatment facilities and type of healing medium used before it can be use by patient that fulfill the requirements of all categories of cancer. The results of the study suggested an ideal healing medium and interaction design approach that highlight on sustainability is needed for the healthcare authority to successfully managing the treatment centre. It is hope that the study can contribute to the improvement of healing elements in a cancer treatment centre and positive psychological effects on its patients in Malaysia

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The relationship between impact of education and health on income per capita in Malaysia / Ammar Rusyaidi Ahmad Shobry

Education and health level is the most important factors that measure the standard of living in one country. Moreover, this variable can affect the per capita income. This can be explained by the relationship between these variables. The purpose of this paper is to investigate and identify the relationship between impact of education and health on per capita income in Malaysia. The result of this study will indicate the effect and consequences of these variables and estimated whether there is strong relationship between them. The data used in this study was taken from World Bank Data and World Institute of Development Economics Research Database. Unit root (ADF), Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and diagnostic check is the methods used to test the data

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
