Episode 21: Matt Eicheldinger: Educator Turned Author
Matt Eicheldinger, B.A. \u2709, M.A. \u2712 is an educator who used stories from his life to motivate his middle school students. When he found that not only were these stories effective, when written down, they inspired even the most reluctant of readers. This put Matt down a path of becoming a published author. In 2021, he launched a Kickstarter campaign to self-publish Matt Sprouts and The Curse of Ten Broken Toes. When the book became a hit, he was able to sign with an agent who quickly sold Matt Sprouts to a publisher. Matt shares how he became interested in being an educator, how he navigated the process of becoming a published author, and his future plans for more books

Book of the Month: Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library
Author: Nick Kelson-Packer Weber State University Our book of the month recommendation is Matt Haig’s novel The Midnight Library. Cultural Placemaking Through the Arts - Matt Wolf
Matt Wolf is a poet who is originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Wolf also works at the Bethlehem Public Library. In this interview, Wolf talks about his own creative journey as he has developed his poetry. He describes leaving the area for a period of time to move to San Francisco, California, and about the role that his writing played as he transitioned back to Bethlehem. Wolf describes the value of art on a personal, community, and societal level. He discusses the importance of exposing children, particularly from poor urban communities, to art, and other changes he would like to see in the local arts community. Wolf describes the artistic community in the Lehigh Valley at length, and about the values of support, collaboration, and inclusion that he sees defining that community. This interview is part of a series of interviews conducted by Lehigh University in collaboration with area artists Doug Roysdon (Mock Turtle Marionette Theater), Anna Russell, and Avi Setton. These interviews were supported in part by the Lehigh University Mellon Digital Humanities Initiative. An oral history interview is an act of memory and hence both highly selective and highly subjective. While it accurately reflects what a narrator remembers (or chooses to tell) of his or her experience and viewpoints, it may not accurately represent what actually transpired or what another person may have experienced. As such users should subject interviews to the same degree of critical scrutiny they would any other historical source

An investigation into the suitability of insulated core transformer technology for an ultra high voltage power supply
A growing area of interest is HVDC supplies. This paper represents an initial study into possible designs of HVDC transformers that could provide 2 A at 1 MV, with the added specification that any proposed technology should be scalable to 5 A at 5 MV. Insulated core transformers (ICTs) have been initially selected as a potentially suitable technology. Careful design of the ICT magnetic core is required to ensure that flux loss is limited so that higher voltages are achievable. Simulation studies have shown that the voltage produced in an ICT does not scale linearly, meaning that there is an effective limit to the voltage that they can produce. In addition to this, a technique is proposed to increase the available current output of an ICT. The full analysis is presented in this paper
