À cette époque, elle constituait une des premières tentatives d'étude géographique globale de la ville de Beyrouth. Dans un style qui n'est parfois pas sans rappeler celui des récits de voyage du xixe siècle, l'auteur privilégie dans sa démarche une enquête de terrain, un arpentage des rues et des arrières-cours de la capitale libanaise de la fin des années 1960, qu'il présente comme une sorte de point-limite entre Moyen-Orient et Occident. Après une mise au point sur l'histoire du développement urbain de la ville, Ruppert décrit les quartiers beyrouthins, dont il analyse avec précision l’organisation sociale. L’ouvrage passe également Beyrouth à travers le prisme de la géographie économique en réfléchissant à la structuration fonctionnelle de l’espace urbain. Grâce enfin aux nombreuses cartes et photographies qui y sont présentées, Beyrouth, une ville d’Orient marquée par l’Occident, n’est pas seulement un livre de référence pour le chercheur. Il offre un témoignage précieux et passionnant pour quiconque souhaite découvrir ou redécouvrir le visage déjà multiple qu’était celui de la métropole levantine avant la guerre civile

No full textThe article presents the figure of Helmut E. Luck, well-known scientist in the world of historians of psychology. Helmut E. Luck also is well-known in Poland, as the author or the scientific editor of several books in the field of history of psychology. In the first part of the article the short presentation of his scientific career and his scientific achievements are demonstrated. The second part comprises the analysis of his opinions in the scope of social psychology. Helmut E. Luck was the one of pioneers in psychology, who paid attention to social positive phenomena or social positive behaviors. In the field of history of psychology, H.E.Luck made the contribution to methodological analysis of psychological ideas in history, preferring the model which underlines connection of psychology with culture and at the same time creates the opportunity to analysis of biographical plots. The article also shows unquestionable and unusually merits of Luck’s in popularization of knowledge about history of psychology.The article presents the figure of Helmut E.
