Zweiter Band der ersten Fassung der "Römischen Octavia". Cf. zur vollständigen Publikationsgeschichte: Octavia römische Geschichte, [vol. 1] (Nürnberg: J. Hoffmann, 1677). Enthält mehrere teils wahrscheinlich, teils sicher autorfremde Gedichte. Zwei davon stammen von Christian Hofmann von Hofmannswaldau (vgl. HKA I, pp. CLXXIVf., Anm. 195).

    No full text

Stories from the Lapidarium: legio IIII Flavia Felix in Dalmatia

    No full text
The author discusses the fragment of a single-section funerary stele kept in the Lapidarium of the Archaeological Museum Zadar. Although it does not contain any special features – even its inscription is not fully preserved – a detail of the inscription reveals an interesting fact that can be seen as solid evidence that legio IIII Flavia Felix was actually a reconstituted legio IIII Macedonica that had occupied the vacated encampment on the River Krka. The known facts about the founding of IIII Flavia Felix Legion and its deployment in Dalmatia are also discussed. An overview of the inscriptions containing the legion’s members from Dalmatian soil is also provided

Multivariate factorial analysis to design a robust batch leaching test to assess the volcanic ash geochemical hazard

    No full text
A method to obtain robust information on short term leaching behaviour of volcanic ashes has been developed independently on the sample age. A mixed factorial design (MFD) was employed as a multivariate strategy for the evaluation of the effects of selected control factors and their interactions (amount of sample (A), contact time (B), and liquid to solid ratio or L/S (C)) on the leaching process of selected metals (Na, K, Mg, Ca, Si, Al, V, Mn, Fe, and Co) and anions (Cl - and SO 4 2-). Box plots of the data acquired were used to evaluate the reproducibility achieved at different experimental conditions. Both the amount of sample (A) and leaching time (B) had a significant effect on the element stripping whereas the L/S ratio influenced only few elements. The lowest dispersion values have been observed when 1.0g was leached with an L/S ratio equal to 10, shaking during 4h. The entire method is completed within few hours, and it is simple, feasible and reliable in laboratory conditions.Fil: Ruggieri Flavia. Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas. From food-to-human microplastics and nanoplastics exposure and health effects: A review on food, animal and human monitoring data

    No full text
This review figures out the overall status on the presence of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) in food and their bioaccumulation in animal and human tissues, providing critical insights into possible human health impacts. Data are discussed on both in-vivo and ex-vivo animal and human studies, and the role of physicochemical properties in determining the biological fate and toxicological effects of MPs and NPs. Particular attention is given to dietary exposure assessments, specifically evaluating daily intake through the consumption of contaminated food items. The current limitations in the body of knowledge and some considerations for future assessments are also reported. Overall, there is a pressing need to establish more robust biomarker research and develop standardized methodologies, for a better understanding of MPs and NPs fate and associated effects in more realistic scenarios for their safe consumption. The review underscores the importance of integrating the human biomonitoring into monitoring programs and interdisciplinary research to ultimately inform on MPs and NPs real burden in the human body

Early post-cooling brain magnetic resonance for the prediction of neurodevelopmental outcome in newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

    No full text
Aim and objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive role of early post-cooling brain magnetic resonance for developmental outcome in newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Materials and methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed on 29 consecutive patients through magnetic resonance evaluation (visual analysis of the images and scoring of the detected lesions; mean diffusivity of semioval centre and lenticular nuclei; and area under the curve of basal ganglia N-acetylaspartate at proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging) and Griffiths Mental Development Scales-third edition at 12 and 24 months. Results: Brain magnetic resonance was performed at a mean age of 5.7 ± 3.7 days. Newborns with no/minor magnetic resonance abnormalities had a better developmental outcome than patients with moderate or severe lesions. Structural and spectroscopic abnormalities in basal ganglia resulted in the most significant predictors for an unfavorable outcome. Conclusion: Normal magnetic resonance in early post-cooling phases is strongly associated with a favorable developmental outcome

    Do-It-Yourself Opinion-Poll Sampling Experiments

    No full text
This article, created by Flavia R. Jolliffee of Brunel University, describes a sampling experiments based on opinion-poll type data as an alternative to coin-tossing experiments for social science students. Jolliffe includes interesting data sets within this basic lesson plan. It seems that the author is attempting to provide a more riveting experience for students, at least in comparison to a coin-tossing example. The author provides references for those looking for further information on this topic

Il Boccaccio di Baldassar Castiglione: la duplice immagine del Certaldese nelle pagine del "Cortegiano"

    No full text
Giovanni Boccaccio is quoted several times in Castiglione’s "Cortegiano", but all these mentions are inserted in two specific contexts: on the one hand, the debate on literary language, developed in the letter of dedication to don Michel De Silva and in the first book; on the other hand, the definition of the joke in book II. Starting from these premises, this essay analyses the meanings of Boccaccio’s presence in the "Cortegiano". It shows that Castiglione’s treatise provides two different and concurrent representations of the author of the "Decameron": a positive one, connected to the ‘questione della lingua’, that offers Boccaccio as a promoter of the usage (‘uso’); a critical one, deriving from the theory of the ‘facezia’, that makes Boccaccio a challenging and challenged model
