Abdul Azim Islahi discusses various ways in which Muslim ideas reached the European West, influencing scholars and helping to form the foundations of modern economic ideas and theories. Early chapters outline the foundations of Islamic economic thought and describe three distinct phases of its development over time. The author then identifies key theories and tenets of modern economics - including value; market and pricing; production and distribution; money and interest; and the economic role of the state - and explores the influence of Muslim scholarly thought on each. A study of parking problems in Muar town. Case study: street on Muar town (Jalan Salleh) / Abdul Azim Abdul Malek
No full textParking facility can be considered as part of planning requirement that can affect development scheme as a whole. The increases of population, paralel with the increasing of road users lead to parking concerns, especialy in Muar Johor. Insuffiecient car park and congested traffic occured in that area, and the study keen to conduct a research to identify the factors that contribute to the problem. The scope of parking problem is narrowed to Jalan Salleh as the main road in Muar town. The author will investigate the parking management system at Muar town from planning, organising and controlling point of view. The demand for property in Muar is increasing, but with problems of lack of parking space and congested area can change property buyers decision. There are several factors that contribute to parking problem in Muar area, and public behavior and the poor management at Majlis Perbandaran Muar are two major concerns that the study will focus on. Based on structured interviews, survey and observation, it is hope that this study can come out with a good solution to help fix the situation before it become worst in the future
Exploring perceptions of pre-clerkship students about workplace learning in the clinical learning environment at Gulf Medical University, UAE
No full textAbstract Background Medical students view clinical workplace placements as an inspiring and motivating learning environment where active student participation is pivotal to development of students’ identity. The progress from pre-clerkship to clerkship education harbors many challenges which consist of experiential learning, adjusting to the clinical environment, and understanding roles & responsibilities. Workplace learning is underpinned by various adult learning theories including social theories,constructivism, supported participation and legitimate peripheral participation. Workplace learning course was recently initiated for pre-clerkship students at a medical university in UAE, which will enable their smooth entry into the clerkship phase of the curriculum. Objectives The research aims to explore students’ perceptions of various domains of their clinical learning environment (CLE), highlight the challenges they face, and extract valuable feedback to improve their environment. Methods This study was conducted qualitatively by using focus groups method in order to explore students’ perceptions of the clinical learning environment. Two focus group discussions were conducted (n = 8 +/-10) to determine the common challenges of workplace learning and its potential solutions. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The approach used to carry out this study was phenomenology, as it helps to understand the learning and behavior of these students who are undergoing this pre-clerkship training in order to transition smoothly to the clerkship phase. Result The focus groups helped to deeply explore the perceptions of students about their clinical learning environment. It helped to reveal the challenges encountered by the students including the significance of proper orientation of staff and students, language barrier, availability of learning opportunities, and supervision quality. The focus groups provided worthwhile suggestions to improve the learning opportunities in the clinical learning environment which include orientation of the staff and students what to expect, improved supervision, mentoring and providing learning opportunities to encourage participation. Conclusion This study attempted to identify the pre-clerkship students’ perception of their clinical learning environment and the challenges they face over there. Possible suggestions by the students included a formal orientation for the staff and students to be carried out at the beginning. Efforts should be made by clerkship directors to provide students with learning opportunities by increasing patient exposure, encouraging participation, and providing high-quality supervision
Model prediction of Al Azim changing water level and power relative due to climatic changes
No full textTo evaluate expectation models related to environmental change and anthropogenic intercessions, impact change in water level and force in Iraq's Al-Adhaim bowl (AARB), multi-relapse, hydrologic affectability, and hydrologic model reproductions were applied. The Al Azim River is the essential wellspring of new water for Kirkuk City, probably Iraq's biggest city. Ongoing investigations have uncovered that the bowl water has been showing expanding inconstancy, conceivably adding to more serious dry seasons and floods because of environmental change. To acquire a superior comprehension of the impacts of environmental change on water assets in the review region in the close and far off future, the Pettitt, precipitation-overflow twofold aggregate bend (PR-DCC), and Mann–Kendall techniques were utilized. The results show that the three techniques delivered steady mean yearly streamflow changes. Moreover, environment inconstancy was the essential driver of streamflow decrease, with commitments going from 66 to 97 percent somewhere in the range of 2003 and 2013, while anthropogenic intercessions brought about decreases going from 4 to 34 percent.
