Pleiotropic effects of GLP1-agonists
GLP-1 agonisti su lijekovi koji pripadaju skupini inkretinomimetika što znači da svoj osnovni hipoglikemijski mehanizam ostvaruju aktivacijom inkretinskog sustava koji omogućuje sekreciju inzulina ovisno o glukozi. Dijele se na kratkodjelujuće i dugodjelujuće te ovisno o aktivnosti i strukturi pokazuju različite farmakokinetske i farmakodinamske karakteristike. Veoma su dobro prihvaćeni kao terapija ŠBT2, no zahvaljujući sposobnosti smanjenja tjelesne mase neki se od njih registriraju i za liječenje pretilosti. Njihovi dodatni potencijali se godinama neiscrpno istražuju te pokazuju brojne pleiotropne učinke. Djelomično zahvaljujući činjenici da su GLP-1 receptori prisutni u brojnim tkivima jer putem njih ostvaruju svoje učinke, GLP-1 agonisti pokazali su kardioprotektivne, renoprotektivne, hepatoprotektivne i neuroprotektivne učinke, a brojne studije i dalje pokušavaju razlučiti njihove mehanizme kako bi se ovi lijekovi istaknuli kao nove moguće opcije u liječenju ne samo ŠBT2 i pretilosti, već i brojnih komorbiditeta koji prate ova stanja, a uključuju poremećaje vezane uz srce, bubrege, jetru i živčani sustav.GLP-1 agonists are a group of incretin mimetic drugs, therefore they activate the incretin system as their primary goal which allows glucose-dependent insulin secretion. They can be divided into short-acting or long-acting agents depending on their activity and structure by which they differ in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles. They are widely accepted as T2DM therapy, yet some of them are used for managing obesity due to their ability to promote weight loss. Their additional potentials are being investigated with continuing efforts and have revealed multiple pleiotropic effects. Owing to the fact that GLP-1 receptors are present in multiple organ tissues, GLP-1 agonists have shown cardioprotective, renoprotective, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective effects, while numerous studies are trying to elucidate their specific mechanisms for them to become potential novel therapy, not only for T2DM and obesity but also for numerous comorbidities that accompany these conditions and include heart, kidney, liver, and nervous system disorders

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The application of spices in the production technology of Croatian traditional meat products
U ovom radu prikazana je primjena začina te njihovo djelovanje na senzorska svojstva, sigurnost te kvalitetu hrvatskih tradicionalnih mesnih proizvoda. Zbog zemljopisnog položaja i klimatskih uvjeta te duge tradicije i bogate kulture Hrvatska posjeduje velik broj autohtonih prehrambenih proizvoda, posebice proizvoda proizvedenih od mesa uz primjenu začina kao što su različite vrste trajnih fermentiranih kobasica i pršuta. Hrvatski tradiconalni proizvodi štite se, kao intelektualno vlasništvo, oznakom zemljopisnog podrijetla i oznakom izvornosti. Ministarstvo poljoprivrede nadležno je za izdavanje oznaka (NN br. 65/15). Oznake doprinose gospodarskom razvoju, naročito ruralnim područjima te očuvanju specifične, tradicionalne proizvodnje mesnih proizvoda. Najčešće korišteni začini su papar, začinska mljevena paprika i češnjak. Doprinose organoleptičkim svojstvima proizvoda, dodaju se zbog mirisa i okusa. Osnovna uloga začina je što imaju konzervirajuće djelovanje i time sprječavaju nepoželjan razvoj mikroorganizama i bolesti.This paper presents the application of spices and their effect on sensory properties, safety and quality of Croatian traditional meat products. Because of its geographic position and climate conditions, its long tradition and rich culture, Croatia has a large number of autochthonous food products, in particular meat products with the use of spices such as various types of permanent fermented sausages and prosciutto. Traditional Croatian products are protected as intellectual property by the designation of geographical origin and the designation of origin. The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for using the mark (Official Gazette 65/15). Labels contribute to economic development, particularly rural areas, and the preservation of specific traditional meat product production. The most commonly used spices are pepper, seasoned ground pepper and garlic. Contributions to the organoleptic properties of the product are added due to the smell and the taste. The basic role of spices is that they have conservative effects and thus prevent unwanted development of microorganisms and diseases
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
