Self-energy effects on nuclear magnetic resonance parameters within quantum electrodynamics perturbation theory
A theory for the calculation of self-energy corrections to the nuclear magnetic parameters is given in this paper. It is based on the S-matrix formulation of bound-state quantum electrodynamics (QED). Explicit expressions for the various terms of the S-matrix are given. The interpretation of the self-energy, one- and two vertex terms and some perspective for possible future developments are discussedFil: Romero, Rodolfo Horacio. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. Binding energy of an off-center shallow donor D- in a spherical quantum dot
The binding energy of a negatively charged hydrogenic impurity with on- and off-center positions in a spherical Gaussian quantum dot was calculated with the configuration interaction method. Our calculations show that Eb is always positive for on-center impurities with a maximum near to the radius for one-electron stability of the potential well Rc. For off-center positions the binding energy can assume negative values within a range of the quantum dot radius, thus indicating the instability of the system.Fil: Gomez, Sergio Santiago. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Quantum interference through gated single-molecule junctions
We discuss the general form of the transmission spectrum through a molecular junction in terms of the Green function of the isolated molecule. By introducing a tight binding method, we are able to translate the Green function properties into practical graphical rules for assessing beforehand the possible existence of antiresonances in an energy range for a given choice of connecting sites. The analysis is exemplified with a benzene molecule under a hypothetical local gate, which allows one to continuously tune the on-site energy of single atoms, for various connection topologies and gate positions.Fil: Lovey, Daniel Adrián. Conductance and electronic structure of conjugated organic molecules
We study the origin of the resonances and antiresonances in the transmission spectrum of molecular systems. The general form of the spectrum, for an arbitrary connection of a given molecule and, particularly, the existence and position of antiresonances, are explained in terms of a set of rules derived from the properties of the Green functions. These rules are afterwords, graphically interpreted, thus allowing one to determine the transmission function of a molecule from direct inspection of the isosurface plot of its molecular orbitals.Fil: Lovey, Daniel Adrián. Few-electron semiconductor quantum dots with Gaussian confinement
We have performed Hartree-Fock calculations of the electronic structure of N ≤ 10 electrons in a quantum dot modeled with a confining Gaussian potential well. We discuss the conditions for the stability of N bound electrons in the system. We show that the most relevant parameter determining the number of bound electrons is V 0 R 2. Such a feature arises from widely valid scaling properties of the confining potential. Gaussian Quantum dots having N = 2, 5, and 8 electrons are particularly stable in agreement with the Hund rule. The shell structure becomes less and less noticeable as the well radius increases.Fil: Gomez, Sergio Santiago. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas.
