Proceedings of the LREC 2020 workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP 2020)

This volume documents the Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP), held online on 12 May 2020 as part of the LREC 2020 conference (International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation). The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars working on author profiling and automatic detection of abusive language on the Web, e.g., cyberbullying or hate speech, with a twofold objective: improving the existing LRs, e.g., datasets, corpora, lexicons, and sharing ideas on stylometry techniques and features needed for profile information extraction and classification. ResT-UP targeted Profiling scholars and research groups, experts in Statistic and Stylistic Analysis of texts as well as computational linguists who investigate author profile and personality both in short texts (social media posts, blog texts and email) and in long texts (such as pamphlets, (fake) news and political documents). ReST-UP represented an opportunity to share profiling experiments with the scientific community and to show automatic detection techniques of abusive language on the Web. Despite the cancellation of LREC 2020 due to the COVID-19 international emergency, ResT-UP was organized online on Microsoft Teams on May 12th 2020 and the programme included three oral presentations and featured an invited talk by Paolo Rosso. ResT-UP was attended by about fifty representatives of academic and industrial organisations

The book's title already contains its first thesis: Hannah Arendt's work contains a pedagogy.. As an example, the author analyses Arendt's concepts of natality, power of judgement and (dis-)belonging, which are important for pedagogy and take it further. With these pedagogical elements, current developments in teacher training can be criticised and at the same time Arendt's concepts can be used to demonstrate meaningful educational theory alternatives

Psicofisiologia dell'esperienza poetica nello Ione platonico

    No full text
This paper deals with Plato’s elaboration of the topos of the inspired poet in the Ion. After briefly discussing Plato’s inquiry into the notion of techne, the author explores the nature and function of poetic inspiration in the context of the rhapsode’s performance. The author claims that inspiration consists in an imaginative process of emotional absorption and is grounded on specific modes of psychophysical stimulation, from which aesthetic pleasure stems. The author also claims that the emphasis Plato puts on the somatosensory dimension of poetic experience contributes to an understanding of emotions as psychophysical experiences and represents Plato’s main argument for radicalizing the antithesis between techne and enthousiasmòs

Molecular cloning and characterization of the AVR-Pia locus from a Japanese field isolate of Magnaporthe oryzae.

In order to clone and analyse the avirulence gene AVR-Pia from Japanese field isolates of Magnaporthe oryzae, a mutant of the M. oryzae strain Ina168 was isolated. This mutant, which was named Ina168m95-1, gained virulence towards the rice cultivar Aichi-asahi, which contains the resistance gene Pia. A DNA fragment (named PM01) that was deleted in the mutant and that co-segregated with avirulence towards Aichi-asahi was isolated. Three cosmid clones that included the regions that flanked PM01 were isolated from a genomic DNA library. One of these clones (46F3) complemented the mutant phenotype, which indicated clearly that this clone contained the avirulence gene AVR-Pia. Clone 46F3 contained insertions of transposable elements. The 46F3 insert was divided into fragments I-VI, and these were cloned individually into a hygromycin-resistant vector for the transformation of the mutant Ina168m95-1. An inoculation assay of the transformants revealed that fragment V (3.5 kb) contained AVR-Pia. By deletion analysis of fragment V, AVR-Pia was localized to an 1199-bp DNA fragment, which included a 255-bp open reading frame with weak homology to a bacterial cytochrome-c-like protein. Restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of this region revealed that this DNA sequence co-segregated with the AVR-Pia locus in a genetic map that was constructed using Chinese isolates

Irregular feelings: mimēsis, poikilia, and the emotions in Plato’s Republic

This paper deals with the psychology of poetic mimēsis in Plato’s Republic and its consequences on artists and audiences in terms of emotional arousal. Focusing on the conceptual bonds between μίμησις and ποικιλία and on the effects they exert on emotions, the author discusses Plato’s ethical concerns about μίμησις from a vantage point that emphasises the role it plays in structuring human cognition. In doing so, the author aims at showing the way aesthetic experience and the emotional engagement it calls forth jeopardize the unity and justice of Plato’s well-structured city and its citizens’ harmonious souls by having a uniquely powerful effect on human learning competences

Analysis of the Cost of Production of Pia in the Context of Determining the Selling Price: Analisis Harga Pokok Produksi Pia dalam Rangka Penentuan Harga Jual

The research uses descriptive qualitative methods using interview techniques, then observation and documentation as a data collection tool related to the total cost of production costs. The results showed that the company Mami Pia & Cookies has a cost of production which is in accordance with the existing theory, namely the full costing method. Based on these conclusions, the author advises the leadership of Mami Pia & Cookies to carry out calculations using search withAction Based Costing aligned in the application of the theory of accounting. This will make it easier for Mami Pia & cookies to decide the amount of the cost of production and product selling prices, especially in the calculation of factory overhead. By adopting the right approach, companies can make policies that are more accurate and effective in determining the selling price of Mami Pia & Cookies products
