No full textThe present essay proposes a reading of the work Mulher ao Mar Brasil (2021) by Margarida Vale de Gato, highlighting the feminist and revisionist approach the author takes toward the Western literary tradition. Gato reinscribes the space of the sea, traditionally associated with the masculine, and in a contemporary female voice, explores themes such as desire and eroticism intertwined with writing and female freedom. To support our analysis, we draw on theoretical-critical voices such as Octavio Paz, Georges Bataille, Michelle Perrot, and Tamara Kamenszain.O presente ensaio propõe uma leitura da obra Mulher ao Mar Brasil (2021), de Margarida Vale de Gato, destacando a abordagem feminista e revisionista que a autora faz da tradição literária ocidental. No full textCompreendo a obra de Margarida Cardoso como parte de um movimento global da arte portuguesa contemporânea que visa refletir sobre o presente à luz de um passado recente. Defendo que a investigação da autora parte da necessidade de ultrapassar um evento silencioso e silenciado que marcou a sociedade portuguesa desde os anos 1970 até à década de 1990 e situo a sua perspetiva partindo das ideias de branquitude e de fragilidade branca. Proponho uma reflexão discursiva e crítica em torno de A Costa dos Murmúrios (2006) e Yvone Kane (2015) que visa problematizar a forma como Margarida Cardoso organiza a sua subjetividade feminina, branca e burguesa por forma a construir uma memória insustentável sobre as mulheres brancas, em África, que as desculpabiliza de toda a violência colonial e que as coloca numa posição de fragilidade relativamente às mulheres negras, colonizadas e pobres.I understand Margarida Cardoso’s work as part of a global movement of contemporary Portuguese art that aims to reflect on the present in the light of a recent past. I argue that the author’s research starts from the need to overcome a silent event that marked Portuguese society from the 1970s until the 1990s and I place her perspective based on the ideas of whiteness and white fragility. I propose a discursive and critical reflection around A Costa dos Murmúrios (2006) and Yvone Kane (2015) by Margarida Cardoso, which aims to problematize how the author, starting from a white and bourgeois female subjectivity, builds an unsustainable memory about Portuguese white women, in Africa, that excuses them from all colonial violence and that puts them in a position of fragility in concerning, colonized and poor women
A personagem feminina em Margarida La Rocque: a ilha dos demônios, de Dinah Silveira de Queiroz
No full textThis work has as main objective to analyze the main character of the novel Margarida La Rocque: a ilha dos demônios (1949), by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz. The author produced wide and diversified work – which transited from historical novel to scientific fiction. The narratives of the writer, in general, are centered in female characters, and, in Margarida, this character shows herself a woman who seeks new possible paths for herself. This way, the novel is among those ones belonging to a transition phase in which the asymmetries of gender relations were beginning to be put under discussion. Thus, the theoretical foundation of this research consists largely of feminist theory and criticism; for this, Brazilian scholars such as Rita Schmidt, Constância Lima Duarte, Ruth Silviano Brandão have been privileged, among others. But authors such as Simone de Beauvoir, Elaine Showalter, were also used, besides the study of Joanne Frye about the female narrator-character.Este trabalho tem como objetivo central analisar a protagonista do romance Margarida La Rocque: a ilha dos demônios (1949), de Dinah Silveira de Queiroz. A autora produziu uma vasta e diversificada obra - que transitou do romance histórico à ficção científica. As narrativas da escritora, em geral, são centradas em personagens femininas e, em Margarida, essa personagem mostra- se uma mulher que busca novos caminhos possíveis para si. Dessa forma, o romance coloca-se dentre aqueles pertencentes a uma fase de transição em que começavam a ser postas em discussão as assimetrias das relações de gênero. Sendo assim, a fundamentação teórica desta pesquisa consiste em grande parte na teoria e na crítica feminista; para tal, foram privilegiadas estudiosas brasileiras como Rita Schmidt, Constância Lima Duarte, Ruth Silviano Brandão, dentre outras. No full textO relatório aqui desenvolvido foca-se nos seis meses de estágio curricular realizado no Hospital Veterinário do Porto em clínica e cirurgia de animais de companhia. Este teve início a 1 de Agosto de 2014 e terminou a 31 de Janeiro de 2015, tendo-se realizado sob a orientação da Dra. Margarida Fragoso Costa e do Professor Dr Luís Lima Lobo, diretor clínico da instituição.
O mesmo encontra-se dividido em duas partes, tendo a primeira a finalidade de descrever as atividades acompanhadas no hospital através de uma descrição estatística dos casos acompanhados pela autora. This report focuses on the six months of curricular internship that took place at Hospital Veterinário do Porto in general clinic duties and pet surgery. It began at August 1st 2014 and ended at January 31st 2015, under the guidance of Dr. Margarida Fragoso Costa as well as Dr. Luís Lima Lobo, the institution’s clinical director. The aforementioned is divided in two parts, having the first the objective of describing the activities accompanied by the author. The second part covers a bibliographical review on the theme "feline transfusional medicine" and the exposure and discussion of two clinical cases, related to the subject, which were observed during the internship

No full textDissertação de Mestrado em Ensino de Matemática no 3.º ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Secundário apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e TecnologiaEste Relatório de Estágio foi elaborado no âmbito da unidade curricular "Estágio e Relatório", que integra o Mestrado em Ensino de Matemática no 3.º ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Secundário, do Departamento de Matemática da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias da Universidade de Coimbra, sob a orientação científica da Professora Doutora Joana Teles e a orientação pedagógica da Professora Margarida Cid. O Núcleo de Estágio de Matemática do ano letivo 2021/2022, da Escola Secundária de Jaime Cortesão, foi constituído pela Orientadora Cooperante Professora Margarida Cid e por três Professores Estagiários, a autora deste relatório, Diogo Oliveira e João Marcelino. Durante o presente ano letivo, a estagiária assistiu a todas as aulas da Orientadora Cooperante, colaborando sempre que necessário, e lecionou as suas aulas assistidas numa turma de 10.º ano, na disciplina de Matemática A. Para além da prática letiva, foram desenvolvidas várias atividades, tanto em cada uma das turmas, como, também, envolvendo a comunidade escolar. Este relatório está estruturado em cinco capítulos. No primeiro é feito um enquadramento do estágio curricular, no segundo é abordada a prática pedagógica e no terceiro são descritas as estruturas de orientação pedagógica e educativa. No quarto são apresentadas as atividades desenvolvidas ao longo do ano e no quinto as formações e webinars, em que a estagiária participou. Por fim, é feita uma reflexão crítica acerca do ano de estágio e da experiência vivenciada pela estagiária.This Internship Report was elaborated in the scope of the curricular unit "Estágio e Relatório" of the Master in Mathematics Teaching in the 3rd Cycle of Basic and Secondary Education, of the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, under the scientific guidance of Professor Joana Teles PhD and the supervision of Teacher Margarida Cid. The Math Internship Team of the academic year of 2021/2022, in the school Escola Secundária de Jaime Cortesão, was composed by the supervising Teacher Margarida Cid and three interns, this report’s author, Diogo Oliveira and João Marcelino. During the current academic year, the author attended every class given by Teacher Margarida Cid, of Matemática A and Matemática Aplicada às Ciências Sociais (MACS), assisting whenever necessary, and taught in supervised classes in a 10.º grade class, the subject of Matemática A. Besides teaching, several activities were developed in all the internship classes and with the school community. This report is structured in five chapters. In the first one the internship context is adressed. The second chapter details the educational practice used. The third chapter details the structures of educational and pedagogic guidance framework. The forth chapter enumerates the activities developed throughout the school year. Finally, the fifth chapter features the workshops and webinars, in which the author engaged. As a conclusion, a critical reflection about the academic year is presented

No full textThe bicentenary of Edgar Allan Poe’s birth in 2009 generated a renewed enthusiasm in the American writer and his work. International conferences and monographical studies re-examined the importance of Poe and his influence on twenty-first-century national literatures. Among the most recent studies, Cantalupo’s "Poe and the Visual Arts" (2014) puts in context Poe’s oeuvre and the artwork to which he was exposed in the 1830s and 1840s. In the same vein, Emron Esplin and Margarida Vale de Gato’s edited volume "Translated Poe" deals with translations and translators of Poe in an attempt to demonstrate “how Poe’s translations constitute multiple contextual interpretations, testifying to how this prolific author continues to help us read ourselves and the world(s) we live in” (2014: xix). This is a review of this ground-breaking volume, which echoes Lois Davis Vines' "Poe Abroad", a landmark in Poe studies published to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the writer’s death

No full textThe text is an attribute to the 40th anniversary of the first master's thesis in Music in Brazil, The Non Legato in the work of Johann Sebastian Bach for keyboard, and its author, Margarida Maria Furtado-Weinberger. After a brief comment on the pioneering role of the UFRJ School of Music in the musical academic scene, we present the dissertation, with reflections about the development of research in performance. We conclude by pointing out relevant aspects of the research model carried out at the time, highlighting the contribution that this pioneering dissertation represents for Brazil.El texto honra el 40º aniversario de la primera tesis de maestría en Música en Brasil, O Non Legato en la obra de Johann Sebastian Bach para teclado, y su autora, Margarida Maria Furtado-Weinberger. Inferring pathways leading to organic-sulfur mineralization in the Bacillales

The process is often missing in published sulfur cycle models. Studies on microbial sulfur cycling have been mostly centered on transformations of inorganic sulfur, mainly on sulfate-reducing and inorganic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. Nevertheless, organic sulfur constitutes most sulfur in soils. Recent reports demonstrate that the mobilization of organic-bound-sulfur as sulfate in terrestrial environments occurs preferentially under high temperatures and thermophilic Firmicutes bacteria play a major role in the process, carrying out dissimilative organic-sulfur oxidation. So far, the determinant metabolic reactions of such activity have not been evaluated. Here, in silico analysis was performed on the genomes of sulfate-producing thermophilic genera and mesophilic low-sulfate producers, revealing that highest sulfate production is related to the simultaneous presence of metabolic pathways leading to sulfite synthesis, similar to the ones found in mammalian cells. Those pathways include reverse transsulfuration reactions (tightly associated with methionine cycling), and the presence of aspartate aminotransferases with the potential of 3-sulfinoalanine aminotransferase and cysteine aminotransferase activity, which ultimately leads to sulfite production. Sulfite is oxidized to sulfate by sulfite oxidase, this enzyme is determinant in sulfate synthesis, and it is absent in many mesophiles.The corresponding author, Margarida Santana, was supported by the program “Ciência 2008” from “Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia”.
