Ivan Žuvela Šabo and His Etnographic Record from 1892
This text reveals the identity of the hitherto unknown author one of the oldest known ethnographic record from the island of Korčula. The manuscript titled “Narodne pjesme junačke i žetelačke” (Folk Songs of Heroes and Harvesters) dates back to 1892 and is preserved in the Archive of the Ethnology Division at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb. Although the author of the manuscript is signed as “Ivan Žuvela, legal scholar,” his precise identification has remained elusive, with incorrect assumptions and even speculation about a possible pseudonym. Through research of available sources and newspaper records, it has now been conclusively determined that the author is indeed Ivan Žuvela from Vela Luka, a member of the Šabo family, and a law student who passed away at the age of 23, just a year after creating this manuscript. In addition to introducing the author, this text provides a detailed exploration of the manuscript and its exceptional significance for studying the everyday life of the past, particularly the harvesting customs on the western part of the island of Korčula

Semi-empirical models of X-ray AGN in galaxy clusters
The realisation that all galaxies host a supermassive black hole (SMBH) at their centres had a profound impact on our current understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. These SMBH grow through the accretion of surrounding material that makes them shine as active galactic nuclei (AGN). Different mechanisms have been proposed to ignite such accretion events, however, which of them is the dominant is still debated. In particular, the environment is expected to play a crucial role as it does in galaxy evolution, e.g., galaxy properties depend on which structures of the cosmic web they inhabit. In this thesis, we use a semi-empirical (SEM) data-driven approach to study the effects of the environment on AGN triggering. The advantage of this approach is the use of state-of-the-art observations to construct realistic mock catalogues instead of using physically motivated recipes that need to be calibrated. Hence, SEM is well-suited for hypothesis testing with a reduced parameter space compared to other modelling strategies. The explicit assumption of our model is that SMBH growth is independent of the halo mass. We compare model predictions against the latest observations on the incidence of AGN in massive galaxy clusters at different cosmic times. We find that AGN activity at low redshift is suppressed in clusters with respect to low-dense regions, however, at high redshift this trend is reversed with AGN being promoted in high-density regions. Enhancement of AGN activity likely happens during infall, before galaxies lose their cold gas. We test claims of preferential activation of AGN in the outskirts of massive galaxy clusters at redshift z ∼ 1. We find that the observed projected overdensities of AGN in the outskirts of high redshift clusters could be explained by cosmic variance, but we cannot reject a physical interpretation. Processes such as ram pressure or increased interaction rates due to lower velocity dispersion could promote AGN activity in the outskirts. Future work includes comparing our results with physically motivated models (e.g., hydrodynamical simulations) and analysing AGN activity in a new cluster sample spanning 0.2 < z < 1 to refine our understanding of environmental impacts on AGN activity
Towards an Augmented Reality Game for Learning about Ivan Vazov's Literary Works
This paper presents a concept for a serious game based on an augmented reality representation of a mural artwork located in the National Library
“Ivan Vazov” in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The mural features the renowned Bulgarian author Ivan Vazov in the center, surrounded by characters from his literary works.
By using a head-mounted display in front of the mural, the players would see movement of the characters and will be able to interact with them in a gamified augmented reality environment. The serious game proposed in this paper offers a solution to the engagement of players with literature and textual heritage within a broader cultural context

New data about Novgorod resident Ivan Shusherin the author of the biography of Patriarch Nikon
The article deals with the biography of Ivan Shusherin, the author of the “Life” of Patriarch Nikon. Based on new archival data, it was established the previously unknown circumstances of Ivan Shusherin’s ten-year stay in exile in Novgorod and his own letters, written in extremely beautiful handwriting are discovered. Analysis of the text of the “Life” allowed the author to clarify the dating of the “Life” and the intent of this work – the most important source on the history of the Russian church in the second half of the 17th century
Yoga for Sleep, Pain, Mood, and Executive Functioning in Persons With Traumatic Brain Injury
Abstract
Date Presented 4/1/2017
We used a mixed-methods design to demonstrate the benefit of a group yoga intervention for persons with chronic traumatic brain injury (TBI). Aligned with the holistic principle of occupational therapy, a yoga-based intervention combining mind and body in practice might be an ideal alternative for clients with chronic TBI.

Ivan Mažuranić and his Contribution to Croatian Literature: For the 170th Anniversary of the Epic Poem The Death of Smail-Age Čengić
The author presents an overview of the work of Ivan Mažuranić (1814-1890) the prominent Croatian writer and politician born in Novi Vinodolski and famous as ban-commoner due to his non-aristocratic origin. The article was written upon the occasion of the recent anniversaries connected to his life, 125 years since his death (1890) and 170 years from the creation of his most important literally work, the epic poem ‘The Death of Smail-Age Čengić’ (1845).He was an exceptional person in whom patriotism, a talented poet and political wisdom were all combined. He successfully completed the final parts of Gundulić’s work ‘Osman’ and in doing so revived Gundulić’s authentic poetic style. He dealt intensively with poetry for a decade, from 1835 to 1845 when the epic poem ‘The Death of Smail-Age Čengić’ was created. He wrote about human violence and arrogance, and in literally and political activities the fight of the Illyrians for the introduction of Croatian to be the official language in the Croatian parliament in 1847 inspired him
