A set membership approach to oxygen transport modeling with unmodeled dynamics
Dissolved oxygen concentration in a cultivation broth is an important variable for bioprocesses operation. The oxygen transfer from air to liquid is determined by the oxygen transfer coefficient, usually regulated by the air flow rate and agitation speed. However, many microscopic phenomena are involved in the oxygen transfer. In this paper, a deterministic estimation method for the oxygen transfer coefficient of a bioreactor is proposed. The inclusion of probe dynamics and assumptions of deterministic undermodeling errors improve estimation results when compared to classic least squares methods. The approach is based on Set Membership techniques, it allows the user to fix hard bounds on the effect of unmodeled dynamics and provides feasible coefficient intervals by means of convex optimization problems. Results from a laboratory-scale bioreactor show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme and its advantages over a least-squares solution

This research article deals with an analysis of the effectiveness and relevance of the criminal measure of life imprisonment against sexual violence against boys and girls. For this reason, the concepts of effectiveness and relevance of the sentence are examined in the light of the theory of criminal law, finding that the effectiveness in this matter depends on the materialization of the purposes of the sentence, that is, resocialization, prevention general and special, and that relevance is subordinated to the adequacy of the measure with respect to the legal system. Based on the above, a view of the measure is introduced from a guarantee criminological approach, that is, taking into account the limits of criminal law and the guarantee of human dignity. Finally, the legal and doctrinal dogma of sexual violence against boys and girls is specified through its normative, jurisprudential and theoretical references.

Abstract: This document initiates with a general review of the renewable energy resources policies in referenced countries as well as in Colombia, there is identified a gap between the geographies with high penetration of the renewable energies in the generation mix and high level of maturity in policy with respect to Colombia and the region. After that, the proposed methodology based on competitive intelligence is presented. A study case for wind power is analyzed to validate the methodology. A criterion for competitive intelligence needs survey and key intelligence topics identification are given, also information sources and database are object of recommendation. All of this intended to identify tendencies and issues that facilitate the incorporation of criteria, factors and variables to anticipate the deployment of renewable energy for electricity generation with the use of sustainable resources. Finally a context analysis is presented, where is identified the dominance of traditional big generation companies, the dependence of economic growth and incomes of the country by the extractive industry which has a contrast with the objective of zero emission power industry. Also is issued a weakness in aspects like benefit transfer for communities, information to the end user, priority in attention of unsatisfied basic needs and lack of criteria to measure the real effectiveness in accomplishment the sustainable development goals.Maestrí
Gain-Scheduled Oxygen Concentration Control System for a Bioreactor
This article presents a multi-variable control strategy for the regulation of Dissolved Oxygen Concentration in a stirred laboratory-scale bioreactor. The controller manipulates the airflow and agitation speed in the reactor. Departing from a mechanistic model that relates the manipulated variables and the oxygen transfer coefficient, linearized local models of the process are obtained. It is observed that there is high variability in the process behavior with the operating point. Then, a Gain-Scheduled controller is proposed. The strategy varies the agitation speed employing a PI control law and varies the air flow according to a switching law that detects saturations in the manipulated variables. The proposed strategy is evaluated in simulation and implemented in a real bioreactor. Results show that the strategy is able to regulate the oxygen concentration in a wide range of operating conditions
