Kanamori requested to certify that Yoshiro Okubo was a welfare commissioner of Yokohama City Naka Ward Bojyo-kai Fifth District in 1958 and Nakao Ito, Mayor of Yokohama City Naka Ward, certified it on July 21, 1958. English translation of the certificate is found in item: csudh_tsu_0013; and another certificate form submitted by Tsugitada Kanamori with a witness's signature, Ayako Shirai, on July 18, 1958 to Yoshio Okubo, Welfare Commissioner. Kanamori requested Okubo to certify that Tsugitada Kanamori had been unemployed since April 1951 to present due to his illness. Reclaiming Identity: Miné Okubo\u27s Self-Portraiture and Authorship in Citizen 13660
No full textIn this thesis, I argue that Miné Okubo\u27s repeated self-portraiture in Citizen 13660 asserts her authority of the soul author of the text, forcing her reader to acknowledge the perspective in which the story is being told. Through the images of herself, she makes clear the fact that the story is filtered through her personal experience, rather than the widely accepted understanding that the novel is a universal story. While the written account strives for a sense of objectivity, the images of Okubo, especially when analyzed through the context of her contemporaries, including comics and photographers, shows how her work focuses on a creation of self and the centrality of authorial voice. Working within some of the traditions of other artists, her intentional subversion of others clearly states her intentions, particularly through her use of direct eye contact within the images. This allows her to confront her viewer, proving a counter narrative to the other depictions of the incarceration while making herself the central figure of each scene. Her work is not only a historical document, but a collection of personal and group portraiture to remind her reader of the individual lives affected by the Japanese American Incarceration. The hybrid text offers a nuanced understanding of how her individual experience impacts the way that she told her story and in turn the way that the audience understands her role as an author and artist
Multifractal Droplet Dynamics in Two-Dimensional, binary-fluid turbulence
No full textWe present the most extensive direct numerical simulations, attempted so far, of statistically steady, homogeneous, isotropic turbulence in two-dimensional, binary-fluid mixtures with air-drag-induced friction. We model this mixture by using the Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes equations and choose parameters, e.g., the surface tension, such that we have a droplet of the minority phase moving inside a turbulent background of the majority phase. Our study reveals that a single droplet, whose mean radius lies in the inertial range of scales, (a) enhances the the forward-cascade part of the energy spectrum of two-dimensional turbulence and (b) stretches the tails of the PDF of the Okubo-Weiss parameter . We show that the dynamics of the droplet is affected significantly by the turbulence in the fluid. In particular, the PDFs of the components of the acceleration shows wide, non-Guassian tails. We characterize the time dependence of the deformation of the droplet and show that it exhibits multifractality

No full textPurpose: Several questionnaires have been used for functional evaluation. They must be translated and adapted transculturally, these instruments need to be valid, reliable, and sensitive according to the population. This review identified the questionnaires which were adapted transculturally in Brazilian Portuguese, to verify the methodological quality. Methods: A search was performed in the PubMed, BIREME, SportDiscus, SciELO, Scopus, Science Direct, and Web of Science. The methodological quality was evaluated by the COnsensus-based Standards for Health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) Risk of Bias checklist. For cross-cultural translation and adaptation studies, the properties of measurement of structural validity, internal consistency (IC), cross-cultural validity, reliability, measurement error, and criterion validity were analyzed. Results: A total of 4564 articles were found; 10 fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The psychometrics properties verified were IC; criterion validity; reproducibility; floor/ceiling effect and responsiveness. Criterion validity was the best criterion evaluated. The main failures were related to sample size, and the most deficient properties were IC, reliability, and error of measure. Conclusions: The studies verified presented "inadequate" final score using COSMIN. Although specific questionnaires for ankle evaluation have been cross culturally validated in Brazilian Portuguese, their methodological quality was generally low, as verified through the analysis of their psychometric properties. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION The questionnaires which were cross culturally adapted to Brazilian Portuguese were shown to be of low methodological quality. In using them careful consideration needs to be given to the psychometrics of each measure. Caution should be exercised in making clinical decisions drawn from the results
