Rodrigo Rubio: vida y obra literaria
Full text linkRodrigo Rubio es un escritor al que la mayoría de los críticos lo sitúan dentro del denominado realismo social y, más concretamente, dentro de un realismo existencial de fuertes raíces cristianas. Además, su literatura posee un alto contenido autobiográfico -desde el principio hasta el final de la misma-,con una fuerte reflexión individual y unas motivaciones psicológicas bastante profundas.
El propio rubio siempre se manifestó como un firme defensor de la literatura comprometida, marcada por una fuerte vocación realista y por un irrenunciable carácter testimonial. De ahí su permanente defensa de la literatura como testimonio de la vida del ser humano y de su lucha diaria, muchas veces infructuosa, por encontrar la felicidad. Porque, para Rodrigo Rubio, literatura y vida son inseparables, tal y como siempre mostró a lo largo de su obra y como se ha pretendido poner de manifiesto incluso con el mismo título de esta Tesis Doctoral.
Abstract:
Rodrigo Rubio is a writer whom most critics have placed within the so-called social realism, and more precisely within an existential realism, with strong christian roots.
Furthermore, his literature, has, from beginning to end, a high autobiographical content, together with a strong individual reflection and deep psychological motivations.
Rubio himself always stood for committed literature with a strong realistic vocation and testimonial character. Hence, his permanent defence of literature as a testimony of the life of human beings and their daily, and so often fruitless, struggle for happiness. Because, for Rodrigo Rubio, literature an life cannot be separated, as he has showed all throughout his works, and the title of this Tesis Doctoral has intended to state

Intertextualidad e hibridación narrativa en El gramófono de Rodrigo Rubio
No full textLa obra de Rodrigo Rubio se considera bien vinculada al realismo social. En verdad, empieza a escribir en un momento histórico en el que, en las letras españolas, la literatura de denuncia estaba a punto de perder su monopolio para dejarle el paso a un más o menos acentuado experimentalismo. En sus novelas no faltan tratos característicos de esa corriente, ya que largos y sinuosos párrafos, monólogos interiores y sendos procesos de introspección abundan en muchas de sus novelas. Así que ambiente y temas de la novela social se mezclan con aquellas formas nuevas de novelar que marcaron la etapa de cambio de la narrativa franquista en la época de Franco. El objetivo de este artículo es esclarecer las razones y las características de esa hibridación, haciendo hincapié en una novela publicada en 1974 con el título de El gramófono. También se intentará establecer un puente entre esta y otra novela muy importante de la época, El disputado voto del sr. Cayo de Miguel Delibes. Mismo tema, autores ambos consagrados a la defensa del mundo rural pero resultados narrativos muy diferentes. Una intertextualidad que muestra las dos caras de una misma moneda, la del desarrollo económico, político y social de España en los años del cambio.L’opera di Rodrigo Rubio è stata letta all’interno del paradigma narrativo del realismo sociale. In realtà, inizia a scrivere in un periodo storico nel quale il monopolio della narrativa di denuncia sociale sta segnando il passo a favore di un accentuato sperimentalismo. Nei suoi romanzi se ne palesano alcuni dei tratti caratteristici, dai lunghi e sinuosi paragrafi ai monologhi interiori che dimostrano la spiccata introspezione dei suoi personaggi. Il realismo sociale si mescola così ad alcune delle nuove strategie narrative che si imposero nel secondo franchismo. L’obiettivo di questo articolo è quello di chiarire le ragioni e le caratteristiche di questa ibridazione, soffermandosi in particolare sul romanzo El gramófono pubblicato nel 1974. Si cercherà inoltre di far dialogare questa opera con un altro romanzo significativo pubblicato nello stesso periodo, El disputado voto del sr. Cayo di Miguel Delibes. Stesso tema, autori entrambi consacrati alla difesa del mondo contadino, ma risultati narrativi molto diversi. Una intertestualità che mostra le due facce di una stessa medaglia, quella dello sviluppo economico, politico e sociale della Spagna negli anni del cambiamento

Full text linkRodrigo Rubio fue un escritor autodidacta como consecuencia de una grave enfermedad reumática aparecida durante su infancia. Ello hizo que dedicara mucho tiempo a leer a los más importantes escritores españoles y extranjeros y que llegara a elaborar una abundante obra literaria, buena parte de la cual se enmarca dentro de la denominada novela social. Es autor de 25 novelas, 3 libros de relatos (además de otros muchos cuentos publicados de forma independiente) y 11 ensayos, y obtuvo cerca de 20 premios literarios.En el presente trabajo realizamos un primer acercamiento a los posibles paralelismos existentes entre algunos de los rasgos característicos de su obra y estilo y los de uno de sus escritores más admirados, el norteamericano William Faulkner

Full text linkLa sotana, a novel by Rodrigo Rubio published in 1968 reflects the torment experienced by a part of the Spanish clergy in the Franco era and in the years following the Second Vatican Council. The purpose of this article is to deepen the topic by analyzing the acctitude and reflections of the different characters that animate its pages. Furthermore, we want to highlight the deep relationship between the text of the Albacete writer and the novel by George Bernanos Diario de un cura rural, published in France in 1936 and spread in Spain since the early sixties. Finally, we want to underline the presence in La Sotana of several elementsof formal renewal. Despite being a realistic novel, it presents some narrative techniques so popular in Spain since the publication of Tiempo de Silencio in 1962.La sotana, novela de Rodrigo Rubio publicada en 1968, refleja el tormento vivido `por una parte del del clero español en la época franquista y más en los años posteriores al Concilio Vaticano II. Este artículo intenta profundizar en el tema analizando la actitud y las reflexiones de los diferentes personajes que animan sus páginas. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
