Nivel de conocimiento sobre electrocardiografía básica en estudiantes internos del Municipio Santa Clara
Get PDFA cross-sectional study was conducted in 46 of Cuban interns from the polyclinic project in the municipality of Santa Clara in order to determine the level of knowledge on basic electrocardiography in Cuban interns. The sample was formed by 46 students; 86% of them consider the basic knowledge on EKG very important for the General Comprehensive Practitioner, and 65.3% of them say they have a poor knowledge on basic electrocardiography; 76% do not know the order that must be followed to properly read an EKG, 73.9% do not know to determine when there is sinus rhythm, 76% do not know to determine the electrical axis of heart, 69% do not know the normal value in milliseconds of the QRS complex; 93% can not identify a left side infarction. In other pathological aspects, the incorrect responses were over 70%. Most of the students consider the knowledge on the electrocardiogram as very important, but have little knowledge of it and do not know basic normal electrocardiography. Most students do not know the criteria of basic pathological electrocardiography.Con el objetivo de determinar el estado de conocimiento sobre electrocardiografía básica en internos cubanos se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en 46 internos cubanos del Proyecto Policlínico pertenecientes al Municipio de Santa Clara; la muestra quedó constituida por 46 estudiantes. El 86% de ellos considera muy importante el conocimiento del electrocardiograma básico para el Médico General Integral, así como el 65,3% considera que conoce poco de electrocardiografía básica. El 76% no conoce el orden que debe seguirse para leer un electrocardiograma correctamente, el 73,9% no sabe determinar cuándo hay ritmo sinusal, el 76% no sabe establecer el eje eléctrico del corazón, el 69% no conoce el valor normal en milisegundos del complejo QRS y el 93% no sabe identificar un infarto lateral izquierdo; en los demás aspectos patológicos las respuestas incorrectas se mantuvieron sobre el 70%. La gran mayoría de los estudiantes considera el conocimiento del electrocardiograma como muy importante pero conocen poco sobre él y no conocen la electrocardiografía normal básica ni los criterios de electrocardiografía patológica básica

The new elements that characterize the focus on its pathogenesis attribute the genetic pattern to determine the host response to bacterial attack. The susceptibility to certain periodontal pathogens due to the inability to generate protective antibody titers against them by the host it is considered may be under genetic control. It is presented an update on genetic risk factor in the different forms of periodontitis ranging from different genetic polymorphisms in chronic and aggressive forms, to the various syndromes among its oral manifestations, having the deep chronic inflammatory periodontal disease.La periodontitis es una enfermedad multifactorial que resulta de la interacción de bacterias periodontopatógenas con los mecanismos de respuesta inmune del huésped. Los nuevos elementos que caracterizan el enfoque sobre su patogénesis atribuyen al patrón genético la determinación de la respuesta del hospedero ante la agresión bacteriana. La susceptibilidad a determinados patógenos periodontales debido a la incapacidad de generar titulaciones de anticuerpos protectores contra ellos por parte del huésped se considera puede hallarse bajo regulación genética. Get PDFCarcinogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma is complex and many etiological studies are being carried out to determine the role of genes and viruses in cancer development. However, even when androgen receptors have been found in laryngeal tumor tissue and cases of laryngeal cancer in women, with debut during the first pregnancy and relapse in each of the following pregnancies have been described, as well as some environmental, occupational and dietary factors that play a role in the carcinogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma, the high consumption of tobacco and alcohol are generally considered the main risk factors for laryngeal cancer. A review based on documents published by the National Cancer Control is conducted in order to evaluate the performance of this condition, specifically laryngeal cancer, as well as the factors involved in its onset and prognosis.La carcinogénesis del carcinoma de laringe es compleja y hoy día se llevan a cabo múltiples estudios etiológicos para determinar el papel de los genes y virus en el desarrollo del cáncer; sin embargo, aun cuando se han encontrado receptores androgénicos en el tejido tumoral laríngeo y se han descrito casos de cáncer de laringe en la mujer, que debutan durante el primer embarazo y con recidivas en cada una de las siguientes gestaciones, así como algunos factores medioambientales, ocupacionales y dietéticos que juegan un papel en la carcinogénesis del carcinoma laríngeo, el alto consumo de tabaco y alcohol generalmente se consideran los principales factores de riesgo del cáncer de laringe. Get PDFChordoma is a rare bone tumor, malignant by definition. It is limited to the axial skeleton because it arises from the notochord. It is of slow growing, so their development is delayed and insidious. It is more common in men and the highest incidence of this condition is between 40 and 60. The case of a mixed-race 69-year-old male patient is presented. The patient was seen in consultation by nosebleed. Physical examination detected tumor mass occupying the left nostril. Sample was taken for biopsy and it was reported the presence of a chordoma of nasopharyngeal location. The complementary tests are made and the appropriate treatment is indicated.El cordoma es un tumor óseo raro, maligno por definición, que está limitado al esqueleto axial porque nace de la notocorda. Es de crecimiento lento, de modo que su evolución es tardía e insidiosa, es más frecuente en varones y la mayor incidencia de esta lesión se encuentra entre los 40 y los 60 años. Se presenta el caso de un paciente, mestizo, masculino, de 69 años de edad, que asistió a la consulta por sangramiento nasal; al examen físico se detecta masa tumoral que ocupa la fosa nasal izquierda. Se toma muestra para biopsia y se informa la presencia de un cordoma de localización nasofaríngea; se realizan complementarios correspondientes y se indica terapéutica oportuna

A case of white female 79-year-old patient, who presents a swelling in the lateral neck region showing a tumor mass, is reported. She underwent a computed tomography angiography and a filling lesion was observed in the left lateral neck region in relation to the glomus tumor of the jugular. It is suggested to correlate with a clinic approach and other complementary tests.Los tumores glómicos, quemodectomas o paragangliomas no cromafines se levantan de los cuerpos de glomus que son estructuras diminutas barorreceptoras localizadas en el oído medio, el hueso temporal y en otras regiones vecinas o dentro de la vena yugular que dan cuenta o ayudan a regular la presión del oxígeno en el oído medio y la mastoides. Se presenta el caso de una paciente femenina de la raza blanca, de 79 años, que acude por un aumento en la región lateral del cuello, donde se observa una masa tumoral. Se realizó una angiografía por tomografía computadorizada en la que se observó una lesión ocupativa en la región lateral izquierda del cuello en relación con tumor del glomus de la yugular; se sugiere correlacionar con la clínica y otros complementarios

The current trend in the literature reviewed is to use the term malignant external otitis instead of malignant external otitis in diabetics. In the formation of the present generation of doctors, it is needed to constantly renew knowledge, and in light of the changes and development of science, the specialty of Otolaryngology is not exempt. The general aspects of this condition, and the behavior and actions as a community physician, are described.Se realizó una revisión de la literatura relacionada con la Especialidad de Otorrinolaringología para actualizar los conceptos actuales sobre la otitis externa maligna con el fin de mejorar la calidad científica y asistencial que se brinda en este centro, así como mejorar los aspectos docentes del pregrado y el posgrado. La tendencia actual en la literatura revisada es manejar el término de otitis externa maligna en lugar de otitis externa maligna del diabético. En la formación de la presente generación de médicos se necesita el renovar constante del conocimiento pues, a la luz de los cambios y el desarrollo de la ciencia, la Especialidad de Otorrinolaringología no queda exenta. counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
