Who is the author of the 1876 Stefano manuscript?
No full textFor over one hundred years the Stefano manuscript was a private document in the possession of the Baccich family and descendants. It told a story of the 1875 Stefano shipwreck as narrated by the shipwreck survivor and the founding family patriarch Miho Baccich. In these circumstances the question of authorship of the manuscript was immaterial and did not arise as an issue. However, with the publication of the manuscript the author‟s name, or names, need to be formally attributed to it. It turns out that this is not such a clear-cut matter.
As we shall see, all informed sources attributed the authorship, and the ownership, of the manuscript to Miho Baccich. But the manuscript itself was written by Canon Stjepan Skurla – a priest from Miho‟s hometown of Dubrovnik. The question then arises: should Skurla also be considered as an author of the manuscript, or, even as the sole author (as some would have it)

Stefano Colonna giudica positivamente il libro, pubblicato da Leo Olschki, limitandosi a sottolineare che alcune opere, inserite come autografe dall’autore, presentino differenti qualità.

Understanding the Impact of High-Pressure Treatment on Physico-Chemical, Microstructural, and Microbiological Aspects of Pumpkin Cubes
No full textIn this study color, texture, starch–pectin, total antioxidant capacity, microbial count, and microstructure of HPP-treated Violina pumpkin cubes were evaluated. Samples were treated at six different pressures (100 to 600 MPa–HPP100 to HPP600) for 3 min. Moisture, total soluble solids, and pH showed no significant differences between untreated (UNTR) and treated samples. Pumpkin tissue showed great structural modifications as changes in cell size and shape, cell wall damage, increased cell wall thickness, cell detachment and dehydration, and calcium ions deposition mainly from HPP300 to 600. UNTR samples showed the highest value of maximum and minimum cell elongation, perimeter segment, and a more regular cell wall thickness whereas HPP600 showed the lowest values for all these parameters. A noticeable difference was observed in HPP600 samples, with a difference in terms of color (ΔE 11.3 ± 1.9) and hardness (87.4 ± 27.8 N) compared to the UNTR ones (194.9 ± 37.9 N) whereas treatments at other pressures changed less markedly the color and texture. HPP200 could ensure a higher amount of starch and pectin availability while HPP200 and HPP400 showed the highest total antioxidants capacity. High-pressure treatment from HPP400 to 600 gave the highest destruction of microorganisms but negatively influenced the structural quality as well as texture and microstructure

He has been responsible for overseeing AAA operations, including the development and commercialization of the current portfolio of diagnostic and therapeutic molecular nuclear medicine products, and listing AAA on Nasdaq (stock symbol: AAAP). Prior to founding the company in 2002, he worked as a physicist at the Centre for Advanced Studies, Research and Development, or CRS4, in Italy. During his 6-year tenure with CRS4, he headed a team of engineers working on different international research projects in the field of energy production and nuclear waste transmutation. Before working at CRS4, and alongside his appointment at CRS4, he worked with Physics Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia at The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the world’s largest research laboratory for particle physics, in Geneva, Switzerland. He actively participated in the development of CERN’s Adiabatic Resonance Crossing (ARC) method. He is the author of numerous scientific papers. A Sentence Structure-based Approach to Unsupervised Author Identification
No full textAssessing whether two documents were written by the same author is a crucial task, especially in the Internet age, with possible applications to philology and forensics.
The problem has been tackled in the literature by exploiting frequency-based approaches, numeric techniques or writing style analysis. Focusing on this last perspective, this paper proposes a novel technique that takes into account the structure of sentences, assuming that it is strictly related to the author's writing style. Specifically, a (collection of) text(s) in natural language written by a given author is translated into a set of First-Order Logic descriptions, and a model of the author's writing habits is obtained as the result of clustering these descriptions. Then, if an overlapping exists between the models of a known author and of an unknown one, the conclusion can be drawn that they are the same person. Among the advantages of this approach, it does not need a training phase, and performs well also on short texts and/or small collections

Specifically are examined the problems related to the organization of municipal bodies, the evolution of the local Parliament, the interference and usurpations of the barons and the consequent lawsuits filed in Neaples, the state of the finances and space of autonomy of the peripheral organisms compared to the power of the offices in Neaples
