Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Tanijau organic fertilizer is a fertilizer derived from organic materials, trimming plant leaves, crop residues, manure and other compostable organic waste that is very useful to repair soil damage, maintain ecosystems and soil fertility, and improve plant cell network so that plants can grow well and develop.This research was conducted in Agricultural Polytechnic Agricultural Sector of Agricultural Samarinda. The time used in this study is for 3 months starting from February 5, 2017 to May 5, 2017, the purpose of this study is to measure the height of coffee seedlings fertilized using organic fertilizer Tanijau brand and to determine the appropriate dose for the growth of coffee seedlings, this research is 3 treatment as follows: K0 : without fertilizer (control), K1 : Tanijau fertilizer with a dose of 0.5 kg, K2 : Tanijau fertilizer with dose of 1 kg, Furthermore, each treatment on coffee seedlings was repeated 10 times. So the number of plants is 30 plants.The results showed that plant height on treatment of K2 (1 kg / polybag) gave better effect, the largest and most can be seen at week 3, week 6, week 9: 6,56 cm, 15,98 cm and 13.5 cm. Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang sikap siswa terhadap matematika sesudah menggunakan pembejaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw; (2) untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang hasil belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan pembejaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw; (3) untuk mendapatkan informasi pengaruh hasil belajar siswa setelah menggunakan pembejaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw; (4) untuk mengetahui skor rata-rata hasil belajar siswa setelah menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw; (5) untuk mengetahui skor rata-rata sikap siswa setelah menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw. Penelitian ini adalah pemelitian Pre Eksperimen yang dilaksanakan di SMKN 5 Pinrang. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas X TPHP semester genap tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah random sampling dan rancangan penelitian one group only pre test-post test design. Data hasil belajar siswa digunakan tes hasil belajar dan sikap siswa dengan menggunakan angket sikap sedangkan untuk mengetahui keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan lembar observasi selama proses pembelajaran. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar siswa dan sikap siswa dan untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian dengan menggunakan uji-t satu sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) keterlaksanaan pembelajaran berada pada kategori terlaksana dengan baik, (2) setelah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw mencapai ketuntasan klasikal, (3) sikap siswa setelah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berada pada kategori tinggi. Demikian juga pada analisis statistik inferensial menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara skor pretest dan posttest dalam pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw untuk materi matriks serta sikap siswa minimal kategori sedang, sehingga dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw memengaruhi hasil belajar dan sikap siswa terhadap matematika

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
