Inequality Aversion, Self-Interest and Social Connectedness
This data accompanies the paper Robson, M., (2021), "Inequality Aversion, Self-Interest and Social Connectedness", Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. The paper runs an incentivised lab-in-the-field experiment in order to study giving behaviour where the social connectedness to recipients varies. Data and code are provided to allow for the replication of the experiment and results of the paper. Data sets include the observed behaviour, demographics and design parameters from the experiment, alongside estimated preference parameters. z-Tree code is provided so others can run the experiment and statistical code in MATLAB, R and Stata are provided to allow others to undertake data reshaping, econometric analysis, preference parameter estimation and graphical analysis. A detailed summary is included in the Documentation.pdf, and should be read first. Please email with any queries and do let me know if you intend to use the data or methods, I would be excited to hear of your research
Aversion to Health Inequality – Pure, Income-Related and Income-Caused
This data accompanies the paper Robson, O'Donnell and Van Ourti (2023), "Aversion to Health Inequality – Pure, Income-Related and Income-Caused". In the paper, we design and run an online experiment, with a representative sample of the UK population, to identify aversion to pure health inequality separately from aversion to income-related and income-caused health inequality. Here, we provide data and code. The Policy Evaluation folder contains: 1) a RData file, which includes the estimated preference parameters; and 2) an R script file, which includes a function that allows others to use our estimated preference parameters to conduct evaluate health policy. Further data and code will be uploaded on publication of our paper. Please contact us if you have any questions

How accurate is an LCD screen version of the Pelli–Robson test?
Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of a computer-generated Pelli–Robson test displayed on liquid crystal display (LCD) systems compared to a standard Pelli–Robson chart. Methods: Two different randomized crossover experiments were carried out for two different LCD systems for 32 subjects: 6 females and 10 males (40.5 ± 13.0 years) and 9 females and 7 males (27.8 ± 12.2 years), respectively, in the first and second experiment. Two repeated measurements were taken with the printed Pelli–Robson test and with the LCDs at 1 and 3 m. To test LCD reliability, measurements were repeated after 1 week. Results: In Experiment 1, contrast sensitivity (CS) measured with LCD1 resulted significantly higher than Pelli–Robson both at 1 and at 3 m of about 0.20 log 1/C in both eyes (p < 0.01). Bland–Altman plots showed a proportional bias for LCD1 measures. LCD1 measurements showed reasonable repeatability: ICC was 0.83 and 0.65 at 1 and 3 m, respectively. In Experiment 2, CS measured with LCD2 resulted significantly lower than Pelli–Robson both at 1 and at 3 m of about 0.10 log 1/C in both eyes (p < 0.01). Bland–Altman plots did not show any proportional bias for LCD2 measures. LCD2 measurements showed sufficient repeatability: ICC resulted 0.51 and 0.65 at 1 and 3 m, respectively. Conclusions: Computer-generated versions of Pelli–Robson test, displayed on LCD systems, do not provide accurate results compared to classic Pelli–Robson printed version. Clinicians should consider that Pelli–Robson computer-generated versions could be non-interchangeable to the printed version
My aim is to retrace the most significant passages of the volume that Brooke dedicated to Early Franciscan Government in 1959. It was a pioneering research, mainly based on sources - hagiographic and chronicle - written by Friars Minor, thanks to which Brooke offered a very persuasive framework of interpretation of the developments of the Order until the death of Francis. The largest section of the book is dedicated to the generalate of Friar Elias of Cortona, certainly the most significant for the subsequent development of the Order of Friars Minor and the best documented. Brooke examines the sources with extreme care, in a new way and unrelated to the internal alignments of the Order, which had often conditioned the reading, and draws an original picture. The following generalates are on the whole less documented and less decisive for the history of the Order.Only with Bonaventure there is a definitive passage from the institutional point of view. Therefore, the causes that have impeded - at least in Italian historiography - an adequate valorization of Brooke's work are examined
