The quantity theory v. the income expenditures theory using Robert Eisner's adjusted federal budget deficit
This thesis examines the work of Robert Eisner of Northwestern University concerning the appropriate measure of the federal government budget deficit. Eisner proposes specific adjustments to be incorporated into the calculation of the federal budget deficit in order to account for the effects of inflation. These adjustments effect the federal budget deficit via the effect of inflation on the level of federal debt outstanding and the interaction between this debt and the deficit.
The focus of this study is a comparison of the Quantity theory and the Income-Expenditure theory of national income determination (in the tradition of Friedman and Meiselman, 1963) using Eisner’s adjusted measure of the deficit for the period 1955 - 1984. This comparison is made between adjusted and unadjusted deficits as measured by the National Income and Product Accounts and as measured by the Cyclically Adjusted (or High Employment) budget.Master of Art

Estimates for solutions of a parameter-elliptic multi-order system of differential equations
This paper is concerned with a boundary value problem defined over a bounded region of Euclidean space, and in particular it is devoted to the establishment of a priori estimates for solutions of a parameter-elliptic multi-order system of differential equations under limited smoothness assumptions. In this endeavour we extend the results of Agranovich, Denk, and Faierman pertaining to a priori estimates for solutions associated with a parameter-elliptic scalar problem, as well as the results of various other authors who have extended the results of Agranovich et. al. from the scalar case to parameter-elliptic systems of operators which are either of homogeneous type or have the property that the diagonal operators are all of the same order. In addition, we extend some results of Kozhevnikov and Denk and Volevich who have also dealt with sytems of the kind under consideration here, in that one of the works of Kozhevnikov deals only with 2x2 systems, while the other, as well as the work of the last two authors, do not cover Dirichlet boundary conditions.publishe
Jahrhundert
The author of the first German-language history of Catalan literature, Otto Denk (pseud. Otto von Schaching, 1845–1918), has remained an unknown figure in German Catalan studies despite his pioneering historiographical work. The Iberian Peninsula is only one of the many aspects of the Bavarian polygraph’s large oeuvre. His literary and historiographical texts relating to Spain and Catalonia are briefly reviewed in this miscellany on the history of Catalan studies and the main features of his 1893 history of Catalan literature are presented. The author of the first German-language history of Catalan literature, Otto Denk (pseud. analysis of a lithium-ion battery model
We discuss two models which describe the charging and discharging of a lithium-ion battery and especially the hysteretical behaviour therein. We give an overview on the modelling process for a discrete many particle model and a continuous many particle model. The former results in an axiomatic description of macroscopic quantities while the latter gives a nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation. The nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation is analysed with respect to existence and uniqueness of solutions as well as qualitative behaviour of solutions. The nonlinearity in this partial differential equation stems from a coefficient which depends on the solution first non-local and second in a higher order. We use interpolation spaces and semigroups generated from sectorial operators to show the existence and uniqueness of solutions locally in time. The global existence in time relies on estimates for the dissipation of an energy. The suitable energy is related to the L-log-L norm and so a Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality is needed to connect this back to L^2 estimates. It turns out that the conditions for global in time existence of solutions are physical reasonable. One needs that the loading state of the battery shall stay between totally empty and totally full. In numerical experiments we investigate the qualitative behaviour of solutions to the nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation. We are able to show convergence of the numerical solutions to the exact solution. We observe that solutions tend to concentrate at certain points. Supported by results from formal asymptotic expansions, we document the limiting behaviour in a certain scaling of the appearing parameters, which is the formation of Dirac measures. The evolution of the global quantities, which we observe in numerical simulations, is the same as what results from the discrete many particle model and one observes hysteretic behaviour in macroscopic quantities

2016.This essay seeks to analyze and discuss ideas about economy and market using
as basis the book Freedom’s Right from author Axel Honneth. After a quick review
about his general idea about social freedom and market, it tries to propose a
one-way out to market Honneth´ pessimism. The hypothesis is that crowdfunding
could be seen as a one-way out to market logic and funding of typical market. As
so, it seeks to get closer that idea of social freedom proposed by Honneth through
collaborative funding, trying to find a transition from market economy of our days
An elliptic boundary problem for a system involving a discontinuous weight
In a recent paper, Agranovich, Denk and Faierman dealt with a priori estimates, completeness, Abel-Lidskii summability, and eigenvalue asymptotics for scalar elliptic boundary eigenvalue problems involving discontinuous weights. Here we extend these results to the matrix valued case with a diagonal discontinuous weight matrix. The given region is subdivided into subregions on which the weights are continuous. Whereas in the scalar case the usual ellipticity conditions suffice to obtain a priori estimates, a counterexample shows that here transmission conditions at the boundaries of the subregions are also needed.publishe
